None of Lightmaps needed recalulating i guess Stalker weather settings are pretty flexible and you can modify all this stuff with variables. Nights in Clear Sky are almost as dark as those from the mod you mentioned and they last longer (full 24h cycle).

It seems that 3DA has even disabled mipmappings there

It's an interesting step, but I'm very sceptical it'll outclass Firefox and Opera in the long run. Firefox and Opera pretty much define web browser innovation IMO, between them being responsible for most progress in web browsers during the last decade and beyond.A lot of people are getting starry-eyed about Chrome because, you know, it's Google. But when you think about it, Firefox and Opera really know what they're doing when it comes to browsers. They both deliver superb browsing experiences, and as of their latest versions they both have really attractive new designs too (Opera has the edge in this department I reckon).

Plus let's not forget that the web browser market is crazily competitive, so any nice features Chrome has will almost certainly be pilfered by the other big players. And with the other browsers having such strong install bases and legions of fans, they've got a big challenge when it comes to gaining market share. Google may find themselves unable to compete — as strange as it sounds for such a big company — because they usually go into markets that have less if any strong competitors.

One thing I am happy about is that Chrome's using WebKit for rendering HTML (as seen in Apple's Safari), which as a web designer means I don't have yet another browser's issues to cater for.

Morrowind was awesome for its time, especially its environment and level of detail.Oblivion looked good tech wise, but it was so horribly bland and boring. Super standard green trees and the most standard medieval houses one can come up with, where was the art styling? Morrowind on the other hand, had some pretty nice styling.

Fallout doesnt only seem to lack color, but the lighting and geometry in general is not so nice. Lighting usually only seem to come from 1 source (ambient or sun), and things like that supermarket are just a big cubic space with shelves in. If you are going to make a supermarket, give it two stories, highlight some areas (car on display for example), fountain, glass elevators, etc.

Of course all of their games are really huge in size, so it isnt so easy for them to spend a lot of time on just 1 area, but still, I feel with a few relatively easy changes it can look more inspired.

Well i was trying to point this one since day 1. It doesnt really look like good Fallout follow-up, where everything was nice and detailed

I just spent the last four hours fucking with the Clear Sky E3 demo's settings. For some reason it will ONLY run at 1280x1024 with 4x anti-aliasing- on any different res or any different amount of AA, the main menu is black, and the game is scrambled, just like STALKER behaved for me. With 1280x1024 and 4xAA, it runs at 0.5 FPS. Literally one frame every two seconds. With out either setting, it's smooth as anything, in those rare random moments where I can see the game world through the fuzz (normally looking at the sky- I could tell it was running smoothly because a buzzard was circling overhead). :/ This is pretty goddamn perplexing.

The e3 demo is from early 2007 and its basiclly very same build as stalker did i'm not sure what you did expected

Apparently Clear Sky has been delayed because the publisher forgot to stick CD keys in the cases before shipping them out. It's not gonna make the Sept. 5th release date. In other news from Russia from angry diatribes posted on the internet by angry Russian gamers it appears that Clear Sky is actually BUGGIER than STALKER's initial release. How this is even fucking possible, I don't know.

I hope they take the CD key related delay as an opportunity to patch the game a bit before release.

The cd-key delay is the one from 29th august to 5th september not further.

The whiney russians are kids that expected CS to be something that is literally impossible to create so

Its not buggier than SHOC in any way, russia had'nt had the same build as the WW/US release. The russian version was released on 20th august and had a patch release along with it that removed most of the issues (minor issues tbh). The release that interest you is completely up to date and you should not worry about any bugs, even so the patch will be released on the day of release and steam version will be updated as well.

    So no worries.

I really dislike the monotone-plastic artstyle they got there I could bother about it if it wasnt named Fallout 3. For some reason i do belive that this VATS or whatever gives player unfair advantage and is really a unballanced thing.
