Don't forget Environment-Textures.com, nobody else got texture resolution that high (12Mpix). This site is paid, but what's 10$ for 35 000 photos

Alternative way would be to use a texture library. Although make sure that the texture reference in it is not tillable or “game ready”, otherwise your textures will look like a lot of textures in the games that used the same library.

Not really true, it doesn't matter if You use tileable texture or normal photo from public/paid library, if you won't edit it at all it will look like a texture from some other game where it has been done the same way, but if you edit it, it won't (just as you say here "...but modify it to suit your needs and personalize it.")

TIP: You can find some great texture reference on CGTexture.com.

Typo cgtextures, you could mention imageafter, mayang, env-tex in there too, these are good sources as well.

    Overally, Good work.

  • HDD Crash

    • Buddy
    • May 28, 2007 at 7:01 PM

You have to run it for some time, it needs to archive changes of all these s.m.a.r.t. values and using these information, it can tell when one of the values will drop to 0 or other minimum (crash). If you run it for one hour and if it will record a value drop -1 after one minute it can think that each next minute it will drop another -1 and finally reach 0, so it's normal it says something might crash on June 14 if you use it for short period of time Try it for few days and then the prediction will be more accurate.

    New map...

hessi, I highly recommend that You use hddhealth or speedfan, they will tell You an ETA for any hdd crash that might occure, really usefull applications.

BTW, some time ago I bought second seagate 7200.10 320gb especially for my final projects and textures/references also to prevent crash

You can paint using poly-paint even before UVing your model, then import/tweak uvs and render the polypaint onto the texture with one click. So then, yes, it's possible.
