Mario Nukem was started quite a while ago which has had it's ups and downs in progress where a few members of the Duke3D community (specifically AMC members) contributed towards it. Just found out about this video recently when it was mentioned on the 3DR boards and thought it would be a nice demostration to what can be done, especially to those who either like Mario, think Build is a horrible engine or both. Below are a few screenshots include, but I'm sure they're outdated.

Nothing special here, just showing I'm still practising with Source. As of current I'm working on getting decent lighting.

Is it by chance possible to prevent lighting (particulary "sunlight") going through door props?

Thought about doing it on that http://hrp.duke4.net/ thingybob?

No because of several reasons; This is made to be an 8bit classic mode mod. Most of the content will be custom. The mod itself has nothing to do with the Duke3D universe. Therefore I won't be using, nor will the mod support the HRP.

Really good map for Portal, nothing too difficult while rather enjoyable and needs some thought. I really liked it - going to give it a review at my site, worth mentioning too. Hope to see some more from you.

    EDIT: Review

I don't think my post will add much to the discussion, but oh well.

Personally, I don't pirate any new games. The only games that I have downloaded are much older ones, mostly because I'm having trouble finding a hard copy of it somewhere, ex. Realms of the Hauntings. As for newer games, I don't since I try to be careful where I'm spending my money. Some games if they're given (or asked) as gifts I can risk for a title I'm not sure about but I tend to wait for titles to either get cheaper or find a second hand copy.

If that doesn't work then I check up on peoples opinions on the said title. I visit the 3DRealms board and the general gaming section is the best place I've been to see such opinions so far. I can't see why people argue that reviews cant be trusted, since there are thousands of unofficial reviews out there. Demos are enough for me to judge a game, if it doesn't run well or I find it boring I wont bother paying out cash for it - but I rarely ever do check out demos yet I constantly see opinions of games I have an eye on.

I don't yet have any work but with the money I do get somehow, I can manage getting the games I want to play and enjoy rather easily. I don't see why others can't, unless you're trying to go for every hyped game out there...

I really like those screenshots, very fresh looking for once in a long time. Nice to see some devs taking on an alternate approach.

Method and BJA really get the best out of the Doom3 engine. Really good stuff there, but I have to agree with Freak on the light.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R (Completed, but wish to replay with harder difficulty)

Team Fortress 2 (Rarely ever play online games, but found this one fun to continue)

Half completed games still installed yet to be picked up again:

    American McGee's Alice

    Clive Barker's Undying

    Thief

I loved one of the players reaction; "No! No gay sprays on the server!" - I laughed hard at that part.

Try putting "-engine ep1" in the launch options for the SDK. Otherwise, you could just load up Steam, then manually go open up Hammer through the Steam folders (bin folders for specific games in sourcesdk).

cool, looks better now, will the board be labeled? if yes rotate it a little bit mor to the left

Yeah, it needs more of a focused angle. Bring the left towards the camera a little more. It's deffinitely better though. The only other quirk I have is the overall lighting of the scene, lacks a bit of mood. I guess it needs a bit more light contrast, try adding in street lamps (not the upside down J ones) along to the left of the path, I think 3 would be plentiful - not sure, worth a try I guess or some tweaks on the overall lighting.

The screenshots that have the moss included really remind me of STALKER, than it does without. That's rather a good thing though since I'm rather fond of the level design in STALKER at the moment.

    The billboard should be a more central piece of the scene, but ofcourse with an offset to the right of the screen away from the menus. It could work at a flat frontal angle. However it would also look a lot better at more of an angle, while the billboard content would be clear to the player. In the distance would then need a more interesting scenery, and possible some contrast. The scene is set at night, so a bright contrasting moon in the sky, top left would look nice - then tree lines and cliffs underneath that. Get rid of that one tree at the back that "stands above" the others. I'm thinking something along the lines of this;

I think one problem Crysis mappers are always going to face is making something that stands out. After all, I look at those screenshots above and have a hard time working out whether or not it's just something from the original game (Though that at least says your quality standard is good!).

I think it'd be interesting to see what people can do with Crysis's engine that isn't a tropical island, or one that doesn't look like everything we've seen already in Far Cry or Crysis (haven't played the latter myself)

I have no complaints, looks just as good - if not better - than your prey map.
