I was too busy stalking Thrik to notice.

  • Source lighting, your best tips?

I found this site via CGTextures, but it also has a nice little lighting tutorial. Check it out; http://%7boption%7d

i have not tried the single player for me its all about the tools

The only reason I'd probably get UTIII as well. The case can be a nice paper weight, the disc a nice frisbie and the manual (or lack of?) would make a nice campfire while I mess with the tools.

  • XSI Mod Tool Character Rigging?

They look like what I'm looking for. I'll try to give them a go.

    Thanks.

  • XSI Mod Tool Character Rigging?

I'm probably not looking hard enough, but I'm wondering if anyone here knows a decent character rigging tutorial for XSI Mod Tool? Pretty please?

I already found a decent animation tutorial which is a lot more friendlier than Blender (from expierence) and I've got the hang of that. However each of the pieces is a seperate object in that one, while characters are usually one mesh (as far as I make them atleast) I'm probably looking for a tutorial on how to assign "groups of verticies" to a bone so I can get the hang of character animation, as well as for weapons (which would use both techniques).

    Many thanks.

Don't know if you're serious or not, but either way. Even if EA did buy out Take Two, they will have nothing over DNF. Ever. And niether does Take Two. This matter has been cleared up over at the 3DR thread here.

That's it... UE3 and CryE2 are deffinitely my next engines of choice when I get round to it. I'll probably still mess with Source, but those other two have a lot of stuff I've always wanted to work with.

The video with the UE improvements, seriously. Maybe I should just abandoned learning Source and get stuck in UE3 instead... not sure.

It's quickly moving out of the realm of a hobby, very soon the only people who do this sort of thing will be people trying to get into the industry.

So damn true. I'm still working with the Build Engine because working on my maps and mods for the thing, is actually enjoyable and feels like a hobby. Although I'm learning the aspects of Source, I find it too much of a chore than a hobby. Lots to learn and improve, so little time. By the time I get any good with Source, it'll be just as old as Build is now.

Planning on adding custom content to this map? Or will you stick to the defaults for now and use custom resources for another project?

":22cigqpg]All you need to use is a specific plug-in for 3dsmax, and just import the converted file and texture to the editor It's as easy as that. (The editor has a really good Material Editor, where you can import you'r own maps and tweak the shaders on-the-fly.)

This is a enough of an explanation for what I wanted to know Sounds a little similar to working with Morrowind's Editor as well. Might consider this engine at some point, but still messing around with Source. Thanks for the reply.

What's the model format for Crysis and how is the importing process of the models done? Fairly straight forward stuff? (hl2) Just a bit of interest. As for the level itself, deffinitely coming along well.

I loved Stalker through to the end, the enviroments, the immersion and especially the action. I loved getting into firefights and they're weren't particulary too difficult to handle until a little later. Enemies only took a few, if not, one good shot to the head to take them down. I'm looking forward to Clear Sky but I don't think I'll be able to play it with these recent problems - probably need more RAM though.

I hear you're supposed to pay off the military blockade but everytime I approach them, they just shoot me so I duck and dive through the electricity tunnel instead.

You should have climbed up the right side of the hill to get through onto the tracks and onto the other side, probably would have been less hassle. Then again I never bothered entering that tunnel, looked too dangerous for my tastes.

After completing this, I was hoping to give it a replay after a small upgrade (GFX/PSU) on a harder difficult, but all it does is crash now.

Looks amazing in every single way. Possibly the greatest design created with the engine yet.

Indeed, I have to agree. Good job there BJA, but have you tried giving the trunks a bit of a green moss to brake a bit from the brown?
