reminds me of the residentevil 1 piano for some reason
Pretty much based on it. Since it's a mansion, I decided to add in a few RE1 gags and little things here and there for fun.
QuoteI'm just curious, what about it took time? How did the modelling go about?
Because it's not a model.
Made up of several sprites, had to turn off grid lock to make the edge around that curve look good. -

Yes, it took ages to make...

Simple chandelier, 8bit classic style - Took a little while to make the graphics from a source and animated the candle fire.

Outlaws! You can modify that game?

Not the Build engine, but I think it's an enhanced, Jedi Game Engine that was first used in Dark Forces?

Reviewed it at my site, here

I love how the edited textures with lighting effects add more atmosphere to this corridor. Still a few details to add in too, and I might make that ceiling light a little more fitting. But this is how it looks so far;

I don't have a phone, never really needed one either. Even If I had one, it'd just collect dust on the shelf like one I had previously (Which was a gift)
I'm rather anti-social anyway, but I might get one in several years time since I might just need one then.

Red Faction ~ Quite a bit further after beating Capek
Shadow of the Colossus ~ Beat 13, so that's 3 more to go.

Still working on that Mansion level for Duke3D. Almost lost the vital art file for it though, since it has all the textures I modified from defaults and don't feel like recreating them. I had a backup on my external drive, lucky.
Shot, from stairs looking down. The other side now has windows, I didn't like the hole in the ceiling much so I removed it and will be filled hopefully with something else. Oh and some spritework round tables at the start of the stairs.

I have recently been thinking about this idea for a little while. However, I still have a year to go which I can use to practise and improve on doing what I wish to do. I am currently in Year 12 doing 6th Form / A Levels (which ever you prefer to call it) and one subject I'm taking is Media Studies.
However, if we survive long enough (so much homework to do) until Year 13, one of our coursework is our choice, however I'm not sure on the details. You can film, animate or other means and my idea was to use a game engine and create a short movie in that, also to be a little original from everyone else in the class. I'm deciding to do this now as I mention above to get better with what I want to do.
The reason I create this topic is, I can't decide out of the two engines/games to use, it's either Far Cry or Half Life 2. The editor for the former looks fairly easy to get used to, and the tropical enviroment can look pretty good to make a short movie on. However, with HL2 I can have a lot more freedom of what I make but will take more time. And the fact I am more used to it.
My question is which game should I go for instead? Ofcourse I'll need to learn/improve and any good machinima (?) tutorial links would be great. Voice acting will not be a problem though so the only concern is this, or should I not bother and go for some actual filming instead? It's good to think about now as well since I can also prepare for it and learn new skills even if I dont use them. Any help or ideas would be great.
(I wasn't sure which section to put this in, as it could fit both here or Offtopic)

That game is so damn old....Dont know, it just seems like a waste of time to me, thats all.
The community still lives on, the port is still constantly updated, projects are being worked on, both classic and 32 Bit ones. The game is so easy to mod for, it's deffinatly not a waste of time.
QuoteDid anybody play that "The Shining" mod for Duke3d? O-m-g, best ever.
This? http://%7boption%7d

More Duke3D stuff from me, some mansion type of map Im working on - No, not a Resident Evil mod. Custom textures are made by mix and matching the originals and tweaking or changing them. Quite fun to work on.

Looks a lot more alive than the previous shots of the tunnel. Not much else to say but good work.

A very modified (by them) Unreal Engine 2 if I remember correctly.
For those who missed my reply above. But you said Duke Nukem, not DNF, so do you mean DN1? DN2? DN3D?

3D Realms has already moved on to another one I believe.

Wait for the official word from 3DRealms for the release date, ignore those types of sites. Im sure it's still got quite a while to go, maybe 2007. You never know.
