this is so fucking hot! warby i really dig this map. i think you did a great job and showed people how you can get supreme looking maps with the source engine without using normalmaps on every model. this map will blast the community like no map did before!!

Core 2 duo is better for another reason compared to AMD. The processor need less power. I thought ive read that the difference can be around 50-60 Euro per year if u use the PC each day.

that's why apple switched from intel core duo to core 2 duo

    1. the Ghz of a CPU dont give any information on its speed! all you know is: its getting faster hot as another CPU. the higher the frequence the faster the overheating.

    2. multi core cpu: you have 2 cpu's in a single 'box'. this means you have to use software that supports multithreading! many games do not. thats why dual cpu systems were for servers or rendering only a long time. atm game developers try to get their engines up running with this technology. i would recommend you a dual core system. i ordered an intel mac with a intel core 2 duo. it must be pretty kick ass.

    3. graphic cards in sli mode are really expensive and i would go so far to call it useless. i never saw a computer with SLI graphics in action. i remeber old Voodoo 2's with this option but it was not a that big performance plus, because it is the same problem as with CPUs: you have to use a software that supports dividing calculation the process in multiple threads without fucking up the system. (for example accessing values that will be calculated by the other PU later -> memory access violations such as nullpointer)

    resume:

get your self a multicore CPU! it will get into game buisness. that is sure.

get a good single graphic card. dont invest in a sli system. it will be expensive and wont bring you a that big performance boost. better stick to a good single card like the NVIDIA 7800GT etc.

get 2 GB of RAM. more than this will be waste (as we all know windows cant adress more than 4 GB, but you can actually only activate like 3GB of it for use.)

i hope this did help you a bit.

i dont know what to say. good or bad.

i like toon style characters but i don't like the sub style you did pick. it looks kind of random.

maybe you should take a look at several anime drawing tutorials to get basics on cartoon drawing. this would help you to dig into drawing.

this is not ment to make you frustraded, but copieing stuff might be a much easier start than trieing to get something on your own right at the beginning.

It is like sending a letter to the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Everyone knows where/what it is and most importantly: There is no mailbox anyway.

    that's exactly my point!

will there be interviews with famous mapp0rs?

if you want, you can have one (-> 1 <-) tutorial of mine while refering to my website to get your mag started.

I don't want to loose my audience at my website. Its not that much anyway, but getting kind of "ripped off" is something i really hate. I am a really big fan of links!

And i have to agree to fletch. you magazine needs more than tutorials. special features and stories about artists and projects should be the focus of such a magazine. (collect and search stuff from the web so that noone has to dig for it if he reads your magazine)

    so good luck you guys.

    onoz weapons on mapcore!

uhm, well its a weapon, we can all see. i am wondering why your poly balance is so crappy. you have like 1000000 polies in the handgrip and like 5 on the top, where the player might be watching the most of his time....

and btw, i think nobody wants to see untextured weapons, because there are like millions on the net already. you have to come up with something new.
