not to defend anything here, but here are some thaughts:
- games are WAY too expensive. 65$ for a game is just insane. the status of a legit, regular gamer nowadays is something that only a working class person can maintain. thats not fair. i ger more hours of fun reading a 10$ book then playing a 65$ game. but maybe im a slow reader.
- there's ALOT of money going on in the gamebusyness. induvidual game artists dont get their honest share. why should induvidual gamedevs defend overpayed managers and producers salaries?
- he that is without sin castet the first stone, am i right?
- the standards atm around pirating games are not equal to stealing. maybe it should be brought back to this, but on the other hand, arent corporates stealing from the consumer with idiotic high pricing?
- if you want to know the source of the reason people pirate games, dont create a taboo around it, create dialog.

be gentle? how can someone possibly say this is crap?
i love it

oh man i always love Hessi's comments
and i must say Koko did a superb job!! i have no tips though

i agree with Frie but unfortunatly i dont have much time. i ran through it for a few moments and i think the map is very true to the original. thats good, but it could suffer a little more detail imo. maybe litterbins, candypapers, vouchers etc. also, i dont think the way some of the models are hanged dont make much sense. i mean, two threads for an enormous whale? and 1 for that flying dinothingy? but then again, im not really bothered with it (it would be fun if they were prop_physics_multiplayers but that depends on your vision on network overhead).
furthermore, some of the lighting could be a little more atmospheric. the outdoor strikes me as too bright. and maybe you could add flying particles of dust near the ceiling and in some of the lightbeams comming through the windows (and maybe even in the vents?). last but not least, make the lightmapscale smaller at the brushes where you have lightspots and light falling in at the windows. but id thaught you maybe wanted to do that later with compiletimes in mind.
thats my 2 cents. i really think its amazing what youre doing and i hope you have lots of fun doing this!! GJ!

misunderstood? you were just being an asshole to someone who has taken the effort to create something that we can enjoy. for free. not to mention the hypocritical crap about being insulting and nonconstructive.
oh, and:
i am not going to continue this discussion so please do not respond to this post. thank you.

holy shit this is epic. this brings back good childhood memories!

thanks for your efforts mate

ps: i KNOW its still a beta, but i still want to point out that those hl2 trees should be replaced with custom ones. for the obvious reason that theyre but_ugly.

Sentura obviously hasn't worked as MOD dev before.
-
it bums me out that i actually should not play games but instead be busy with college so i cant test it atm but the changes sound promissing! looking forward to giving it another shot.

-
allthough i cant test it i must say that looks VERY hot.

good job man!

i wouldnt come as far as laying 2 pieces of that puzzle without ending up on that soft yellow pillow with my gf though.

1 - Where do I begin?
here.
2 - How much programming experience is necessary?
none.
3 - What kinds of map editors do professional game designers use? Are these the same tools I would use?
i think mostly hammer or unreal editor. possibly. but this depends per game engine.
4 - What is a good game/engine to design a map for? (Consider that I am starting off)
HL2. its very moddable and has a relatively low learning curve + lots of tutorials = win.
-
looks great guys! keep up this good work!

-
hamster wins the thread. period.

D3ads, how long do you think this project will take?
