those textures look pretty much right from a photo. is it for natural selection?

Hi there,
I recently bought a domain and some webspace to have my own website. Though I have done this before, I never had the time to learn some decent coding for it. Before, I just used simple HTML. As long as it served it's purpose, right?
But whatever, who doesn't want a site that's more or less good to the eye? Well, since I don't really have the time to get to read books other then for studying purposes, I was wondering if any of you know some tricks to get a fine website, relatively easy to maintain (with a program maybe?) and that doesn't cost me too much money (wich I also do not have)?
I heard of PHP-Nuke. Is this good stuff? Does any of you have experience with this?
Well, all help, suggestions and useful links are (of course) very much appreciated!
