I wish someone would phone me

Someone call me, here's my number:
0746938534
Ok so that's not my number but it would be funny to ring it up and shout 'weetabix down the line, my friends did that a few times

Great texture, very Max Payne, but bricks should never ever be bump-mapped imho...
-
There's not much being said on the forums either so most are just assuming that it's dead, I can always see if I can get any sense from Professional Victim when I'm next on IRC...

I am useless at tech stuff, which is annoying because I need some Doom3-esque looking walls and stuff for part of a level set set in an underground lab, you can't photosource the bastard things if they don't exist in the first place

Looks real nice Dark, to be honest I have no problems with anyone using MP as a infuluence for design, I myself have used a lot of the areas from mp1 and 2 for my own project, but it isn't the same, you'll see what I mean eventually.

they should've just focused on releasing a hl1 version and not a hl2 in my opinion.
So they have actually gone to source properly now? Such crap, it'll never see the light of day now for sure, like you said it should be a HL1 project.
I notice you lot are on about reinstalling HL1, it's never left my computer, it's HL2 that went out of the window because Steam is bollocks.

Omg you stole my words D3!Multiplayer looks fun but the vehicles don't do much for me.
/me sues D3
Haha, I didn't know you were on here like. I just copied the post because it made sense and I was feeling lazy

I'm still looking forward to Q4, but it does have more than a few gaps in atmosphere to Q2, to me it doesn't look like Stroggos, but hey it's not done yet so we'll wait and see. I think the vehicle stuff is quite cool though...

1up.com have released 2 new Quake 4 movies featuring both multiplayer and vehicular action.
You can grab them here, they're also now on Fileplanet.
There are also some screenshots on there I've not seen before...

Brushes don't look half as good in the skybox. Reason: a skin looks much more unique and detailed then repeating textures applied on a brush.
Ahh but you can do the same with textures, just make them bigger and with more detail so that they don't need to be tiled if that makes sense...
-
That's fair enough mate.
Bloody glad you can use brushes, I can't model for shit

-
I'm sure there's loads of those type of buildings in HL2, couldn't you have just reskinned one of them?

Looks good but I agree on what Jynx said though. On this subject, do you have to use models for the skybox or can you use some brushes as well? Just curious..

It's looking a lot better, is this meant to be London? I'm guessing so from the PC vehicle and the signs, which look awesome btw. It's still a bit too clean overall however...

You have to tell us about it if anyone's going to be interested...

Like UE said if the HD is dead (ie it refuses to boot and makes weird clicking noises) then all the data is lost. This happened to me back when I had an 8gig HD, it was almost full and I lost all my old map files and textures etc.
The lesson to learn here is ALWAYS backup your data, no matter how small it is. For instance I backup my mod files onto a re-writable CD everyday and keep adding onto that whenever I have new data to add or write over old data. I suggest you do this with everything that you've done in future, afterall these are your own workings and the last thing you want is to lose a good year's + worth of hard-work.

I thought this was HL maps only now?

Quake 2 was the first game to get me into editing, although I never released anything, it was Half-Life that set the ball rolling properly
Worldcraft 2.0 *shudders*
