Sorry guys, I forgot to add something, this was in the latest PCG UK:

SHODAN will see the light of space again with System Shock 3, now under development at EA Redwood shores. Having renewed their trademark protection as recently as January (and with orignator's Irrational Games now Take 2's property), EA put the team responsible for The Godfather onto SS3. Wether this is a good thing or not depends on your point of view.

Then again, this is EA

EA Presents System Shock? (UPDATED) [01]151 Comments - Chris Remo

UPDATE: Shacknews has received word from a very reputable source, who requested to remain anonymous, that EA is in fact working on a project referred to as System Shock 3. EA has yet to give an official response to Shacknews' inquiries regarding the original story, but more information will be posted as it becomes available.

UPDATE 2: EA responded to Shacknews' inquiries, stating that it is EA's policy to regularly maintain its trademarks. As far as System Shock 3 itself, it comes as no surprise that the official response is, "We don't comment on rumors."

As Take-Two announced its acquisition of System Shock 2 developer Irrational Games, various news sources have reported on an intriguing trademark issued last month to Electronic Arts by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It registers the System Shock name as a trademark for use in a computer game, prompting some to wonder if EA plans to revive the franchise. Currently, Irrational is working on a "spiritual successor" to its acclaimed System Shock 2, which has achieved something of a legendary status among PC gamers in the more than five years since its release.

Registered December 15, 2005, the language used in the patent specifies "a computer game that may be accessed network-wide by network users" and/or "an online computer game accessed and played via mobile and cellular phones and other wireless devices." That second one is rather surprising. Perhaps it's just there to cover all possible bases, but somebody who wants to travel out on a limb might speculate that it suggests an "alternate reality game." After all, EA did publish the well-intentioned but flawed Majestic, a game that begins on the PC but expands out to players' cell phones and email inboxes. While Majestic wasn't exactly a success, it was created and championed by EA's Neil Young, an outspoken and high-up executive at the commpany. Young has continued to speak in support of the concept behind Majestic even if it wasn't a commercial blockbuster. And System Shock, with its plot centered around a self-aware AI, does seem like an ideal universe for such a setting.

Of course, that is all rampant speculation. EA might be working on some kind of sequel to the series, but more likely it's simply a renewal of the trademark to keep tabs on the intellectual property. There's also the appealing notion of a simple reprint of the past games.

I've used plenty of textures from other games as bases to help form new ones, by the time I'm done with them they look completely different. Same goes for skins, sometimes it's not possible to create everything from scratch and shortcuts have to be made.

I've mixed and matched sounds from loads of different games before too, I know there's a lot of free maps/mods out there that use plenty of sounds from commercial games (ie Poke 646 uses a lot of Kingpin sounds). I think so long as you're not directly ripping off content (ie cloning it for the same design purpose) you're ok and of course if the developers don't come knocking on your door

I found the gameplay boring because it was the same old monsters, I wouldn't care if it was just 'another generic D3 level ' but it wasn't because you've obviously proceeded with something original- so it was annoying. If you maybe reskin the enemies and give them new sounds (easily done without any new code), it would be excellent, something to think about next time.

You know if you decide to do another D3 project I'd be more than happy to help you out a bit, like with texturing, skins and audio...

[edit]I retried that 'drop' part and there still wasn't a death trigger, I don't get it

Well I just got done with it.

In terms of general design and looks, it was fantastic, nice to see something that doesn't look like every other D3 level out there. However gameplay wise I found it really boring, same old Doom 3 monsters, audio files etc just ruined the atmosphere of it being something non-D3 imho, the battle with Sarge made me sigh, been there.. done that! I also found it pretty hard at times, but that might just of been me sucking ass

I found a few things that I thought you should see:

    [Blocked Image: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/deathcrush/lf01.jpg]

I think you spelt 'Recycling' wrong

    [Blocked Image: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/deathcrush/lf02.jpg]

Just a small thing, easily fixed though.

    [Blocked Image: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/deathcrush/lf03.jpg]

I jumped down there to see if I can any hidden pickups and then down to the ground expecting to die but I didn't, best put a death trigger in there...

    [Blocked Image: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/deathcrush/lf04.jpg]

The door at the beginning of the first map needs locking so it doesn't open into nothing

The outside area was really well done, but I agree with everyone else about the fog, it really doesn't blend with the sky very well.

[edit]Oh the caution signs in the outside area on the fences are transparent which looks odd, I forgot to take a screenshot of this so I hope you know what I mean
