Cool, love the look of the Monk-zombie, looks like something out of Painkiller or Blood. Really looking forward to it

QFT, also you earned extra respect points for mentioning Blood

Anyway I'm not that impressed with this, it looks ok but nothing all that special

Oh yeah, check out this site:

    http://www.marlinstudios.com/products/products.htm

Look at the 'Some of our noteworthy users are . . .' list and you'll see that a certain company uses assets from here complete with normal maps, so perhaps the HL2 stuff was bought from here anyway and so did GSC?

It doesn't justify the Doom 3 content of course...

Don't forget that ID do sometimes use other people's assets, for instance all of the Quake 2 sound effects were created by Soundelux Media Labs (credits in the game manual), so ID don't always make everything.

That's not to say that Stalker haven't 'borrowed' these assets, as Thrik has pointed that having 'imp' in the filename is probably direct proof that they are ID's original (unless imp means something else like 'impact' ? I doubt it though.

As for Half-Life 2 assets I wouldn't be surprised if those are widely used in lots of titles, they're not exactly the most exclusive normal maps...

For fuck's sake guys, if you're going to tell him it looks 'boring' or 'generic' then at least explain why!

It lacks a lot in details, for instance in the first shot you could do with some more decals/trash/boxes/vents etc, the ground just looks too clean for my liking. Similarly in the second shot, the left hand wall looks very bare and would look better if there was some kind of pipe network/drainage system/vents running alongside it.

Custom assets always go along way, so there's something to think about next time. For your second released map, it's not too bad really, look forward to seeing your next release

    Some piccies:

It doesn't take long before you come across your first truly gruesome sight...

    [Blocked Image: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/deathcrush/CoC/004.jpg]

The 'Deep Ones', working as part of the local police force and as fishermen/store owners.

    [Blocked Image: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/deathcrush/CoC/006.jpg]

The attention to detail is sometimes crazy, here you can see a cockroach partially creeping out of the dead woman's mouth, this crawls out and runs around her body before crawling back into her mouth again

    [Blocked Image: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/deathcrush/CoC/003.jpg]

Cutscenes are pretty well scripted and animated.

    [Blocked Image: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/deathcrush/CoC/010.jpg]

At times they are portrayed from the player's view complete with hands, in this example merely picking up a photograph frame.

    [Blocked Image: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/deathcrush/CoC/009.jpg]

This little girl reminds somewhat of the children in 'Prey' and there are slight comparisons there as well "onoes.. spoiler.." *dies*

I was going to wait till I'd finished this before starting a discussion, but I'm so impressed by it so far that I'm going ahead now! I bought this awhile ago after having it recommended to me by several people, it's basically a game inspired by the works of HP Lovecraft. It's a first person game but you don't shoot (you do get a gun later on but rarely get to use it), you're a detective who spends time searching for clues and evidence trying to find out what is going on in a small coastal town. There's an inventory and it sort of works a bit like Silent Hill in the way you manage items.

There's no HUD, instead you get on screen warnings (COD2 style) to show that you've taken damage and there's a sanity meter that gets worse when you see a mutilated corpse or you're trapped in a room or something. If you don't calm your character down- he'll kill himself! The atmosphere in this game is amazing, the sound effects are top notch and I actually get a bit scared sometimes, a game hasn't done that to me since the great Shock 2

It was released on the Xbox awhile ago, so some of you may have played it? I don't remember seeing it mentioned here at all so I wondered if anyone else has played it. It's not the best looking game, because it's another of those titles that's been in development for years it looks a little dated (and it's ported from the aforementioned xbox release) but it's well worth picking up, there's some pretty sick stuff going on in this town.

I will post more info and (non spoiler) screenshots as I play through

I can't get it to run properly I've tried the "safe_texture_manager" in the cam.cfg - that didn't work. The "Fixed EXE" version works but it constantly crashes.

    http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69958

    Hopefully that will help you.

Steppen: I don't like it, it ruins the atmosphere since the models make the drones look like vampires and the midwife just looks like a naked crew member with large breasts and mechanical bodyparts :/ The texture mod isn't all that great either, there's a lot of things that aren't enhanced.

Looking fucking fantastic, good to see Liberty City back again too!

[edit] Actually it looks like New York.. but there's a shop in there called 'Liberty Tree' so I'm kinda confused.
