This time around the game is being developed by The Collective, an American development house responsible for the Buffy games and Men In Black (remember how terrible that was?). Having read the interviews and seen the media, I'm a little more assured that it wont be dogshit, the protagonist this time is an American GI (Alex Sheppard... heh, Adrian's brother maybe?
) which is quite different to the usual plain 'jane/joe bloggs' and there is a worry that they'll be more of an emphasis on shooting than anything else. It seems the developers are looking towards the Silent Hill film for inspiration, and the way the paint peels off the walls and metal rusts around in the picture has been implemented into the actual game:http://www.gametrailers.com/player/25643.html
I think the creatures feel very much like anythihg Team Silent could come up with and at least Akira Yamaoka is still working on the sound as well as watching over the project closely. They're trying to rehash the atmosphere of SH2, perhaps they'll bring back Pyramid Head? I'd be in two minds about this, on one hand PH was a manifestation of Jame's guilt and not actually real, on the other, who wouldn't want to fight a heavily detailed multi-mapped PH? It's also well known that PH is just an executioner from Silent Hill many moons ago so it'd be possible that Alex could have some guilty secrets too and therefore could manifest PH again? We'll see.

I have a 3.2GHZ machine with a gig of RAM

12GB of HD space for the game is insane!

Apparently in September, a gameplay video was released along with a few screenshots, all the info can be found here:
I completely missed this and judging from the lack of coverage on here, so did everyone else? Taylor? Did you know anything about this?
There's shedloads of stuff on there, as well as information on Silent Hill Zero which I'm guessing is the new name for Origins...

Having seen that video properly now, I am downloading a high-res version, loved every minute of it, granted a lot of the old F.E.A.R. props and effects but is that such a bad thing? Does everything have to look as good as Crysis? The ending was immense, I really really want to know what happens next and is that ATC you're fighting again? The plot thickens...
[edit]IGN downloads at 30kb/s.. Any other mirrors are appreciated!

I just enjoyed it a lot more, really really loved the combat in F.E.A.R. In HL2, the Combine A.I. is rubbish, they just stand there shooting at you sometimes sidestepping and that's about it, it's almost a step down to the original Half-Life. F.E.A.R.'s clones kick objects over for cover, hide around corners until you come near them and often try to flank you, that said they still seemed to walk casually into mines  Although in essence F.E.A.R. is still fairly linear, HL2 had next to no choice about how you approached some areas, often throwing the player one direction whereas F.E.A.R. gave you a choice in some parts as to how you approached a combat situation, I liked that little touch. I'm not saying Half-Life 2 is shit or anything (far from it, as I've said before several times), I just liked F.E.A.R. especially and imho it is a better game.
As for people moaning that the title is generic, Project Origin is the title for the experiment used to create Alma, Fettel and the pointman so I guess it'll go deeper into that, although I don't see how seeing as the facility was nuked in the original game..

Yeah you know how I like all this dark stuff, HL2 was too bright for me

Looking good

Christ, the 8th screenshot is especially dribble-worthy

Fuck you

In the meantime:
1) F.E.A.R. has the best combat in any FPS ever, excellent AI.
2) F.E.A.R. made me jump several times but didn't actually scare me.
3) F.E.A.R. > Half-Life 2
4) The second F.E.A.R. expansion is called 'The Perseus Mandate' and is being developed by Timegate studios (who made Extraction Point) and will be released as a standalone title apparently... $$$?! Sounds about right..
Quote from MazyIts too bad though, I'd really like to see Monolith doing a new NOLF, that series could definitely use some more games in my opinion.
Blood III... Blood III!!!!
