lol.. yellow nazis. I like the idea of an alternative future where WWII went on longer than it did, Iron Storm is the only other game I can think of that tried this and it was shit, someone needs to do the idea justice!

I have never heard of any of that lot, recommended?Quote from ErraticI'm interested in this one but the reviews I saw were all poor and I don't know if it'd even run on my ancient machine...

system shock 2 underrated ?! i thought its being held in "universal acclaim" by just about everybody critics and consumers alike ?!
Quote from MazyOh and D3, System Shock 2 and NOLF? Underrated? What the hell are you talking about. Both those games sold quite well for the time, and they got amazing reviews. Everybody that's played them will probably hold them up as some of the best games of all time. In fact they're games, especially SS2, that are still influencing the industry to this date.

Well it might not be as underrated as some titles but it didn't recieve the sales it deserved and there's loads of people today who have never heard of it. I mean if you mention Looking Glass studios to anyone they're more likely to think Thief than SS2.
Of course I could say SS1 is massively underrated like many people do, but I've never played it so I can't comment.
As for NOLF, when people think Monolith these days they think of F.E.A.R., compared to that title NOLF had nowhere near as much influence on gamers, you and I and a fair few here might hold it with high regard, but there's plenty out there that have never heard of NOLF.
Quote from HourencesId love to still get a chance to give requiem a shot. I played the demo a whole lot when it came out but eventually bought AVP instead with the little money I had then

Great game, being able to cast spells is the best thing about it, since the weapons are pretty crappy. It's awesome being able to turn an enemy into salt and watch them disentegrate before you, or summon a swarm of locusts that surround them or boil their blood so much they explode into a gibbed mess. Most awesome powers are definately the possess ones where you can either trick an enemy into being a ally and attacking other enemies or possess them directly so you can either go stealth or mow them down before they know what's hit them, especially great for the dreadnought class

Oh fuck.. Kingpin, how could I forget that one??! I love that game.

Rofl.. low settings, 800x600 and still only 25fps. I just wanted to see if I liked the gameplay and to be honest it's too complicated for me to get into it, still maybe I'll give it a bit more attention at a later time.

Which games do we feel have been largely underrated upon and since release?
No One Lives Forever
[Blocked Image: http://lonely-george.de/scans/no_one_lives_forever_1_3.jpg]
Classic title, for some reason NOLF1 got a lot of poor reviews when it was released because it was too linear and easy but I don't agree with that. It's also a very long game, took me more than a week first time playing it through.
Another Monolith classic, highly underrated;
BLOOD
[Blocked Image: http://www.oldgames.sk/images/oldgames/3d_action/Blood/Covers/Blood-box-2.jpg]
This game is still fantastic even now, the best Build engine game made, Duke Nukem's got nothing on Blood as far as I'm concerned.
"You're not gonna look so good with your face ripped off.."
System Shock 2
[Blocked Image: http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2005/205/reviews/185706_20050726_screen001.jpg]
Those of you that have played it know why this is one of if not THE scariest game ever and that's a fair of you here. Shodan still gives me the creeps even now, utterly fantastic title.
Requiem: Avenging Angel
[Blocked Image: http://img.gamespot.com/gamespot/images/screenshots/0/130710/requiem_screen004.jpg]
Ever wanted to play an angel fighting the forces of Hell? Well, you wont find that here.. instead it's an angel fighting the corrupt forces of Heaven. As Malachi, you must stop the creation of an interstellar starship known as Leviathan and prevent the apocalypse.
Project IGI
[Blocked Image: http://www.sg.hu/kep/2001_02/project_igi_im_going_in_bemutato_01.jpg]
Ultra tough tactical FPS, sees you stepping into the boots of a Welsh special agent, who must stop a notorious Russian terrorist faction from arming a nuclear warhead. When I say this was tough, it was really tough. You had to infiltrate bases in various locations, without being seen by cctv or guards, how you did this was largely upto you as there were multiple routes through an area. It only took a few bullets to kill you and if the alarm was raised, you would quickly be surrounded by special forces soldiers hell bent on your demise. If you died, you had to start the level again, there was no saving except at the end of a level, even if you died at the very end, you would start all the way at the beginning. Very frustrating but still massively brilliant title.
Ahhh... nostalgia.

Finally the Gametrailers review is here!

Apparently you can run it on a single core machine on low settings so I might try the demo out

":2r38bhnl]the mixture of those two shouldve never became a reality in the first place, not in the movies at least.
I agree kinda, everyone wet themselves after the end of Predator 2 and it's been in the pipeline ever since. If they did a decent job of it, it could be an excellent film, like if they followed the graphic novel more because the storyline there works perfectly, there's a nod towards it towards the end of the first AVP film but it's rushed and lacks chemistry between the cardboard "heroine" and the predator.
I'm more interested in Cameron's Alien prequel which may or may not be in the works, supposedly giving us more of an insight into who the "Space Jockeys" are and the origins of the bugs themselves.
-
It has both Predators as well as all the Aliens and AVP films

I actually watched AVP last night and it's not as bad as I remember, in fact it's so much better than Requiem which I enjoyed more in the cinema but when I watched it again I found it to be completely pointless drivel. How can such a strong franchise with lots of background story get fucked up so bad? Waiting to see how bad AVP3 turns out

They should just make a film out of the AVP graphic novel...

Excellent film and the only good film WS Anderson made! On a sonewhat related note, I got this today:

I bought the first Aliens films earlier in this thread but I didn't know this existed and I was looking to get all the Aliens/Predator and AVP:Requiem on DVD and when I saw this it was instant buy, sure it has a couple of stinkers (ie Alien 3 and AVP1) but for £15 I wont grumble and some of the DVDs have extra features too

-
Wow I love this, so atmospheric, great custom content too!

Looks fantastic, like a mix of Mirror's Edge and some of the Japanese sections from Devastation, artistic style and attention to detail is breathtaking!

The reviews for Arma 2 seem to be few and far between, the game's been out for weeks now and yet IGN and Gamespot haven't got anything, nor Gametrailers..
