The whole older games being unplayable thing is pretty hollow. Basically after the first 15 minutes visuals are almost meaningless. I'm yet to truly experience this phenomena. If I stop playing an old game it's because I run the fucker through my mind a dozen times and get bored before I even really start.
I can still load up Doom, or Deus Ex, or Thief, or Quake 2, or Yoshi's Island and still have a blast.
All that's really changed is we tolerate thing's less and less as time goes on.

Finished it last night on Veteran. Clocked in around 6 1/2 hours for the campaign. I didn't really speed through it but I didn't take my time either. The encounters towards the end definitely picked up but overall it felt like everything was too exploitable. Stealth can be easily used to take down a good portion of a fight or just simply slip passed and skip it altogether, which I tried not to do too much, but did when it felt appropriate (I pretty much bypassed the whole section on

leading up to

). I'm still not sure if this is a good thing all the time, given how easy it is to do. Fighting the big alien dudes who flip cars made for some cool situations but grenade spamming him ends up being the best solution, ultimately.
Sniping seemed pretty overpowered as well, as you usually have a pretty good overview of an area when you come out to it vs Crysis 1, where trying to snipe an entire camp of guys wasn't always viable, as you were rarely given a complete, uninterrupted view of a whole encounter. Everything was generally more parallaxed, so if you wanted to snipe, you'd have to work at finding that high ground.
I've probably put more time into MP at this point which is pretty fun, spawning aside.

i'm especially curious about the story in crysis 2 after richard morgan shat all over the story writing in a few other FPS's a few months back (which was warranted).
You're in for a treat.

I'd say epics art these days is just playing it safe, not being extreme enough in any direction to upset people (and fans of their IP's) Would be interesting to see epic guys going balls out with art, that bottom screen shot could have allot of color and interesting lighting, instead it's Gray! Uncharted shows you don't have to make ruins just Gray! Green isn't enough to make the scene feel alive with color.
The game you're looking for is Bulletstorm.

Make it paid DLC through the in game store.

I'd be more worried if they weren't showing warehouse environments. The game is probably too much like Deus Ex at this point, really. All they need to do now is not have reload animations and this shit will be perfect.

Playing on Infamous this time around and it's even better. You get like 2 bullets per weapon drop and take twice as much damage as Hardcore, which pretty much means you might as well not fight anyone at all. Swimming 2km's to bypass a couple checkpoints is pretty much the norm, because driving around is for idiots or people playing on easy. At some point a sniper is going to start shooting at you, and if it's at night, goodluck finding out where he is in time before you've wasted half your syrettes on this one asshole on a cliff somewhere. If you're lucky a nearby jeep won't try to run you over during all this, but you probably aren't, so you're likely fucked.
But I hear Bulletstorm gives you points for shooting guys who might fight back sometimes.

I'm playing the one where you're in Africa and you have to be a total bad ass because the game doesn't give a fuck about you so you just have to survive and deal with it.

Replaying FarCry 2. cause it's the best shooter of the last half decade.

I don't think a worse trailer has ever been produced. Everything about it was awful. Felt like a car commercial with really shitty acting. And oh god the dialogue...

and the framerate is capped to 62 FPS.
A tragedy. Take it back to the store.

MP is good so far. Forgot how fucking awesome Warzone is. All about objectives. Not even giving a shit about my K:D at all. Also mechs stomping around in mutli is pretty terrifying.
Quote from DarkOther than the terrible sniper part, pretty good so far. Some of the new locations, action sequences remind me of Shadow of the empire(star wars)
Was ok other than not knowing who's left Rico or whoever was referencing. Why this game wasn't playing as the Helghast though is beyond me. Most interesting aspect of the universe reserved for just cutscenes and being stabbed in the eye.

Heavy Rain but with all the interactions removed. I think they could really be onto a totally new medium if they just pushed it further...

I let those get the better of me. I'm weak.

I hate CG trailers, why pass up the opportunity?
Stuff that serves as purely a marketing tool isn't very interesting. If I can't get anything remotely real out of it it's just not worth investing in it.

It's obviously put together well but it ain't no Dawn of War Blur intro or the recent Deus Ex trailer. It's rare I let CG get the better of me.
