Primary source reference material.
But I'm cooler cause I play it on my PC and have the kingdom of heaven soundtrack running in the background.

War of the Roses has made me understand why people larp. Nothing else really like it out there.

yeah I know but any opportunity to talk about 1942 I'll take. And air superiority is right along the same lines as those older maps. I dug planes only midway a lot as well in 43.

Also, bad thing number two is the tank superiority mode, it's just boring really. I thought the air superiority on 1943 was a bit of a throwaway mode, fun for about 20 mins and that's just because the planes were ok to fly, tanks though are slow and dull, all you do is constantly spawn, get in a tank, roll slowly over to the opposition base, get blown up by all their tanks and repeat

I dunno, Aberdeen and Battle of Britain are some of the most fun I had with 1942. Battle of Britain especially, goddam it was amazing the first time seeing the germans fly in on a packed server while manning an AA gun. I wish BF3 had gone more with the scenario type levels in the same vein as a few of the later patched in maps. Jeep/Buggie/ATV only maps or something would be cool, they're usually just targets in the stock maps but it would be a blast to just be able to burn around in them without the inevitability of a tank round floating over your head the whole time.

I like the first bourne movie a lot. There other 2 are humorless shit. They're technically alright but something about them just depresses me.

I've got about 4 hours logged on steam for BL2 and 30 for the first game and I'm getting the same vibes I got with that. Not much has changed yet but after about a half hour of playing I realize I haven't really done much and quit out. I know it's a loot game and probably a coop thing that's fun with friends but I can't do coop with people cause it just undermines every aspect of the game. I don't know if it's just there isn't much of a challenge to anything or if it's just, for how fucking bonkers the game comes off, it's actually pretty tame in a lot of respects. The combat still feels pretty pedestrian, none of the encounters feel like much of anything to tackle and feel more like they're just there to farm. Also discovering stuff is a bit of a non event cause basically everything so far, like the first, is marked very carefully with clear, consistent language which is great for a game where you don't want people getting lost or wandering around but that's almost the entire point of the game and I end up never really feeling like I found something myself because it's kind of impossible to do that. Maybe I'm off here but I haven't really felt like I found something that was actually hidden in either game. It's definitely a trait of the loot genre or whatever, but there's a lot of room for more interesting exploration when you have a full 3d landscape that I don't really much of here.
I mostly just wish enemies really threw me for more of a loop cause all the weapon options stuff I imagine could be put to some cool use if the enemies forced me to do more than farm the shit out of them. I'll probably give it a few more goes, though.

"Every weapon in the roster was enjoyable to use and had an impressive level of feedback"
Weapons in Half-Life a high point, now I've heard it all.

I was actually pretty serious, what is that term. I can only see it as either that or some typo.
edit: it appears more than once. Guess I'm just supposed to know what that shit means.

indie dev quotes
genre harping
the word pretentious in quotes
and wtf is a manshooter. is it another derisive in-crowd term like dudebro for games with guns and killing or was I asleep during the 90's?

verhoeven must be spinning in his grave

they also overwrote origin systems from their records by naming their digital distribution sysytem after it.

I dunno if anything I think this just, again, shows how pussified games and shooters in particular have become. Players getting stuck for a few minutes or having to use their resources appropriately are not symptoms of bad design they`re traits of developers not nervously attempting to correct something that totally isnt a problem.`
Also backtracking is pretty much always a good thing unless your game is dull as shit to walk around in.

I would normally make fun of everyone getting stuck in this thread but I just ran around for 5 minutes after the bridge explodes after the cargo elevator with the head crabs dive bombing you. Didn't even notice the giant pipes I had to crawl across, what a dumb ass. And that isn't even an area that changed from the original HL, good lord. Gotta stop playing Dota and play some real games again, I'm losing it.

Yeah it's hard to to see em as anything but a movie star but he doesn't bother me much, he's a watchable dude. And he was probably the best thing about the last Indy movie lol
