I thought it was trying to make a point about how hip hop is actually sort of an evolution from the shabby condition of the slaves. Like how it emerged out of bitterness. Could just be my dumb interpretation, but I liked it

I don't even want to see Django after Inglorious Basterds. I honestly think the dude has lost his way. He's become hyper-aware of his own sensibilities and the sensibilities of everyone else that he seems fixated on creating things nobody else but him could ever possibly create, for the sake of it. This sounds fucking stupid typing it but I think it's true.

If I just stop at Jackie Brown goddamn what a perfect triangle of films. Jackie Brown is absolutely his prime, everything in that movie just comes off so perfectly and effortlessly without a fuckin hitch. It's a masterwork. But everything from Kill Bill on has just lost me. I'm sure he's having a fucking blast making this shit, and it shows, but it's clearly a very different part of his legacy at this point. He pretty much pulled a 90 degree turn after Jackie Brown and went way the fuck somewhere else I don't even know where.

But who am I kidding I'm gonna watch that shit cause it's probably still better than most everything else out there anyway.

Bought Shinobi PS2 while failing to find King's Field in the playstation store, guess it's Europe/Japan only or something . It's pretty great.

Also bought Vagrant Story for some reason. Maybe I'll enjoy a JRPG that isn't super mario rpg for once.

The Bourne Legacy is the next best after the first. Heard a lot of negative stuff about it being unnecessary but at least it was entertaining and not a fuckin downer like the last two. Plus this time the protagonist had a personality. End a bit abruptly though.

I'd heard about about some of this stuff going in and it's still no excuse for the game being a mediocre run throughout. And yeah, knowing what the game was chasing before hand probably didn't help but I'm still not really seeing it. Yeah, shooting american soldiers (like 600 of them wtf, did they send an entire regiment to get trapped in Dubai?) is messed up but it's not SHOCKING on any level but a distant intellectual fart. I can appreciate what they were going for but there's really nothing beyond this singular idea of showing a mirror up to the player to really latch onto. There's almost zero logic to the entire scenario, there's no interesting characters but angry shit talking grunts, and the games combat is as stock as they come.

Who sends 3 guys on a rescue mission? Why did the rescue mission suddenly turn into a blood bath after one case of friendly fire? Am I supposed to believe Walker (Me) is just completely insane while he (I) have zero choice in the matter? It's one thing to approach this material and another to approach it in the context of a game. If you're going for the latter, give me some choice, otherwise everything feels like a contrived, in your face setup for the writer to get his rocks off. Which is probably the case. If you're going to be didactic, at least entertain me.

Finished this a few days ago. It's pretty much as stock a shooter as they come. And with every atrocity they show it seems like the next one is just trying to one up the previous. That shit works in moderation, not so much when it's just one after the other. Changing Walkers VO and making the executions more savage as the game progresses was neat. The fight club ending was odd, I don't know if that sent the message home or not, cause it mostly just confused me. All those situations could have played out the way you initially perceive them and nothing would have changed. Or maybe I missed something.

I liked the first level where I could shoot people right away during the stand off instead of having to listen to their dialogue, though. That should have been a recurring aspect through the whole game. Also I tried not to use the white phosphorus and they just up the damage on the enemies so it forces you to use it, boooo.

    XCOM

i fucking love it and it's super addictive, i played like 12 hours straight in my first session. but fuck there's some really annoying missing features that just seem completely overlooked. why can't you pause to the escape menu while it's the aliens' turn? why do autosaves only save arbitrarily dependent on missions instead of in a coherent fashion. drives me fucking nuts.

still, it's good shit. does anyone know to what extent the levels are procedural? their generation algorithm seems almost too good to be true but then again what do i know.

I think there's just a set amount of premade levels. Only thing that's random is the enemy count and type that spawn in, and then even that is based on difficulty. I could be wrong but I've played the same levels quite a bit.

This is what I think of the above movie:

"They can find Sadam in a hole, in Iraq. But you can't tell me who shot 2Pac?" -Chris Rock

Looks like a very Americunt war promoting movie.

To me the whole war thing is retarded. Millions die each year of heartdisease and only a 100 of terrorist attacks or something. Yet they spend way more money on terrorism, trying to surveillance whole america.

Isnt that the whole point? Narrative and emotional progression.

Oh, more specifically when he sort of erupts on brian cranston about fucking up or whatever. Which before, and after, is never really shown again. Felt weird. Like it wasn't earned and didn't progress from there.

Drive was ok. Half way through the movie he actually shows emotion and I don't get that because he's a total mute the rest of the time.

Excuse my ignorance on the subject as I have had to wait for lighting compiles my entire game design life, but there is just one thing I dont understand.

How is it humanly possible to create terrible lighting when the results are right in front of your fucking face??

I mean before that ray traced acceleration software hit Vrad I had to wait 9 hours to compile some reactor maps in Lambda Core only to open it up and see the most minor thing wrong upon which I immediately hated doing anything in source.

    Mostly because:

Though I never really found baking that much of a burden compared to working with a realtime viewport or one that does approximations. Honestly, it's probably the opposite, because you just get even more obsessive and anal about shit that you really shouldn't be thinking that much about in the first place. Baking in Hammer gave me that discipline of not giving a fuck about lighting for days at a time and then doing large incremental updates and tweaks without stopping every 5 seconds. All that gets flushed down the toilet when you start throwing shit around with no delay. I really question whether it helps make things better at all or just satisfies my stupid brain. There's no question it's faster of course...

Lightmaps are great for screenshots where nothings moving around and there's no game to play. Which is all that matters anyway.

I think I'm done. This shit is too fast or I'm getting old. My ass is getting handed to me by SMG's from across the map before I can even bring my assualt rifle up to iron sight. Everything dies way too fucking fast and I had a 2.0 K/D in black ops fuck this shit.
