Well, technically it would be illegal for you to lose your job for making a workplace safety complaint(that is what this is - excessive overtime is OSHA/health code violation). Is there anything in your contracts that states you will be required to work overtime? Did you go through safety training for fatigue management (If in the US and working an overtime job, pretty sure it's an OSHA rule to take the fatigue training). As part of my job, I'm required to do 12 hours shifts indefinitely during our "crunch times" - but I'm in the nuclear power industry. Time is everything, we have a fixed time schedule to do our work(~1 to 2 weeks). But I get paid for the 12 hours shifts, not 150% or anything, but I at least get paid. Not getting paid and working long shifts/7 days a week, that is bullshit. Unless you guys working those shifts are getting well over $100k/yr, that is bullshit.
Of everything, the one thing that truly puts the fear into employers is OSHA. they wield some big fuckin' sticks. Someone who is fed up with this shit/is going to quit anyways.. fuckin call up OSHA. Can't hurt.

I think the cracks on the main body of it are good, as far as layout and spacing and such. I think they're too deep and bright though, they look very clean.
The handles and base have a much higher density of cracks, and makes it look weird. Reduce the number of cracks on those/increase spacing, and darken up the crack color and I think you've got it nailed. Especially the base, there are lots of cracks around the midsection of it but no cracks at all on the rim - the most likely place to be cracked. Looks off.

I could post hundreds of abandoned engineering designs... but I won't, because that's boring and sad

Indeed. Just keep your "scat-board" away from me.

We'd all need a MIB style memory wipe to achieve that

I just finished it... epic.

And on the topic of the source engine.. I think the industry broke the immersibility/believability barrier in the early/mid 2000s. I've never played a source engine game which required a significant leap of faith to believe what is going on. I replay HL2/ep1/ep2 every so often, and I'm never struggling to cope with outdated graphics like I do playing HL1 or anything of that generation, and HL2 is going on 7 years old. Granted, it pales in comparison graphically to the Crysis games or Uncharted or etc, but for me, those enhancements are "sugar on top" - source graphics are good enough for me to be able to fully appreciate the story and gameplay aspects without being distracted by fractures in graphical immersion.
Valve continues to tweak Source to bring a little bit more to the table, and combined with their superb level designers and environmental artists, can still drop my jaw from time to time. Parts of Portal 2 had me gaping, and nothing in between had me yearning for more.

I appreciate the feedback, I have to make this as easy as possible to use and understand! I think the XYZ planes will help with the perspective.
I just got CEGUI working. It is way overkill for what I'm doing, which unfortunately means it's way more complex than necessary (for me). But I've got my GUI designed, I just need to finish transferring it from photoshop concept to GUI reality... and then integrate it with the 3D rendering. Tomorrow is going to be a long day
Hopefully I'll have some shots of the GUI with the rendering and the XYZ planes soon for more critiques
