Yeah i've got an LCD but it still is pretty unreadable for me? I mean I could make out what it said but it took some squinting and guessing at a few letters. TBH the ones that are most easily readable are the ones that are all red, like the S, F, and C.

If they give themselves the right to decide who lives or dies, they give us the right to decide whether they should live or die as well. Thats my opinion.

    ariel atom!

    Front susp:

    Rear:

    [Blocked Image: http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/ariel-atom-5.jpg]

Front suspension is a basic double-wishbone with a cantilevered spring/shock setup. I can give you some details on that if you like.

    [Blocked Image: http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/8362/atomsuspab8.jpg]

Cantilever pivot connects to the frame, cantilever pivots around it.

Cantilever is that little triangular piece that connects to the connecting rod and spring/shock assembly. It basically turns the direction of the connecting rod(in/out as the suspension moves) to the direction of the spring/shock(front/back)

Connecting rod, just connects the spindle(what the wheel attaches to) to the cantilever.

Steering rod, connects rack and pinion to the spindle

Upper Control arm/wishbone, is basically two legs of a triangle made out of round tubing that connects to the spindle and frame, basically half of what holds the wheel to the car.

Lower control arm/wishbone, same thing as the upper but... lower

I had a question about planes. I wanted to attach a plane to the wooden post above, but it would only display the faces on one side. I heard that you needed to change the properties of the plane object and change backface cull. I did that but it didn't display the other side in the render. If anyone has any ideas what in satan's anus I'm doing wrong, I'd be grateful. Thanks.

Very cool stuff oog, I like the cartoony/dementia style you got there.

As for the planes, for HL2, you just add the line $nocull 1 to the .qc file when you compile it. For just rendering it in the editor, usually I just copy the plane and flip the facing. Other than that... I dunno

No groin shots? Damn, without groin shots fallout 1/2 would have been a piece of shit game. It literally made the game. If I didn't shoot someone in the groin every 3-4 minutes, I probably would have died. They should have just called the game Groinshooter.

To be honest, I played through fallout and never shot anyone in the groin. Ever. The thought never even crossed my mind.

One thing I'm unsure about the game is the first person perspective. Thats the only thing that had me goin "mmmmeeeh i dunno!?". Just in general, when I play RPGs I like looking at my character, donning a new piece of armor or whipping out a big gun and watchin him battle. But thats just a nitpick, and they say that you can pull out to 3rd if you'd like.

    Colorful

That gives me an idea... I think for the next contest we could do RTS style characters? Kinda like Warhammer style? Or whatever you want. I think that'd be an interesting contest. ~350 poly model and 256^2 tex. Maybe render like a dozen of them at once from the typical overhead view? dunno just an idea

Wait didn't I hear somewhere that this game was created by some guy and distributed for free, then some other guys ripped it off and sold it to valve/steam whatever?

    http://gridwars.marune.de/

Only reason I heard about it is because the lunix guys were all 'omg it was created and lunix and ported to windoze lollool we win one!'

    hmm peris and i agree

tbqh I thought Fallout's combat was rather shit - granted I first played the game approx 9 years after it was originally released, so standards have changed. But still, I mean at least for the first few hours you play the game, its all just clicking on some stupid ant or gecko or scorpion and missing 75% of the time. It wouldn't be such an exercise in futility if it didn't take so long. When you think about it, all the Action Point thing did was determine rate of fire - if you have a small gun, you could crank off 3 shots in the same time it took your enemy with a huge gun to fire once. The only difference is your action points didn't 'roll over', so if you use 5 out of 9 action points in one turn, you lose those 4 APs. Where did they go? Did you and your enemy just stand around for 4APs worth of time, chatted a bit then went back to shooting each other?

I don't know, to me it just seemed tedious to fight, so I spent most of my time figuring out ways to either avoid battle or be tricky to hedge things in my favor, like locking doors, sniping people from long range, or simply just getting a huge gun and trying to get as close as possible and hoping for a critical hit on the first burst, if not, reload until I get it. That is sort of what its all about in Fallout 2, trying to design a set of weapons that'll do the most damage for whatever ammount of AP you have.

The thing that really made Fallout 1/2 good was the immersive story, variety of gameplay options and tactics, the sheer size of it, and the vast skills and perks system. I'm not shedding any tears about the combat system changing. I'm not sure what they're changing to will be good or not, I think I'll just have to play it to decide for myself.

I've never played Obvlivion so I don't know of this voice system, but I'll take everyone's word for it that its crap. I hope they fix whatever was wrong with it, because the conversation is a huge part of fallout.

I kinda like the change in setting, could be interesting. Maybe more city ruins like we saw in the teaser. Mountains, forest... Ohh maybe some crazies from appalachia Some backwoods rednecks turned into backwoods redneck mutants
