Found a few minutes tonight to fiddle.

You found enough time to fiddle and make a map?

I was going to. Mainly because I loved what JJ Abrams did with early Alias even though MikeyZee keeps telling me he's a hack and Lost's awesomeness all comes from David Fury.

I've been viewing it on and off, although I first made the mistake of going to buttonmasher.net and thinking you'd scrapped game design and formed a band.

I don't not like him... but I can't say I see the fascination with him. I guess I've just never got into it...

    Oh yeah, just remembered.

The follow-up creation from the makers of The Office... is on BBC2 tonight.

    -Click-

Those of you in the US with HBO will only have to wait until September (-Click-), though I'm betting any US Gervais fans will be renting tors tonight.

    Oh, just found this. Brilliant.

Yeah but forget the director, sure it's his visual vision and all that... but the two writers (and one extra one (Office quote without realising it )) are brilliant... they did wonders on Alias, so the 'human story' and twists are bound to be good.

As for WotW, we had trailers for Lost which UK Terrestrial TV is finally getting in the Summer and King Kong. King Kong looks amazing, like Jurassic Park on acid...

Whoa, yeah, I interpretted that as a 'you need 100% to get in'.

Good luck next year... we all know the people at Mapcore who actually make maps and work with current engines in their spare time probably have more motivation and a better drive than 'theoreticals'.

Yes, it's Michael Bay... BUT... early-Alias writers (and I looove early Alias) Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci wrote this one, and it looks like it's gonna be amazing.

It's out tomorrow in the US, but us Brits will have to wait until early August.

Oh, and the lovely Scarlet Johansson's in it (with Ewan McGregor, the amazing (well, he was in Alias tongue.gif) Djimon Hounsou, the underrated Sean Bean, the cool Steve Buscemi, and the big bugger Michael Clarke Duncan).

Don't watch the trailers, just go.

Oh well, I think it was an 18 over here anyway. And there's no such thing as pad publicity...

Still, I think games are going to be the new scapegoat for society's problems for a while just like Rock n Roll and 'Video Nasties' were.

Yeah, it does look sort of gloomy and overcast.

Apart from that, though, it looks really nice and I don't know why there aren't more comments.

It's also unfortunate how it shows up how crap Source is at rendering the 'edges' of water (in straight lines, no waves), although maybe in-game (from an FPS view) it doens't look as pronounced - maybe there's some way you can think of to reduce this effect by having 'gutters' or building/sidewalk edges that overhang? (The water shader itself is still good, though.)

As long as there isn't an unskippable EA Games intro movie (á la C&C Generals/BF2) I see this as a good thing.

Their marketing campaign/budget alone will make HL2 reach the ears of the casual gamer so more people can experience the game.

Maybe not Counter-Terrorist, but a SWAT mod would sure fit the flank-and-maneovre gameplay perhaps, especially if you wanted to simulate a bank robbery (like Heat's) or something.

    Quote from Kosmo

Max Payne has been modelled after real people too, in the first one Sam Lake (Sami Järvi) the writer of Max Payne, and second one after Timothy Gibbs since they were "in the money" so they could hire a real actor to pose as the charater and do the comicbook cutscenes. The strangest part is that, why they didn't model Max after James McCaffrey who just looks too badass, and has actually played several quite similar roles.

    I'd always thought Mel Gibson...

Oh and yes, all this is in 'Raising the Bar' - Valve had one physical model and one voice actor.

Oh, I dunno... Vin Diesel would probably be good enough. I mean, no offence but it's not going to be an adaptation of Shakespeare is it?

In fact, the game itself borrows from several 'movie moments' (though I'll admit it has carved out its own sense and style) - such as the shotgun in the box of roses from Terminator 2, etc.

Having said that, Jason Statham would have been good, but perhaps he's done that kind of thing with The Transporter, so the movie guys don't want that type of film again, they'd rather go for an action movie with Vin to pull in the money.
