I saw Happy Gilmore last night, and apart from some shoes or something the major thing was Subway... the thing is, it 'sorta' fit into the story.

Plus when it first came out I didn't know what the heck Subway was... it's only become big in the UK over the last couple of years or so, and even then I only found out recently it wasn't some crappy unhealthy fastfood joint like McDonald's but did indeed serve fresh... I think what tipped it was a programme (maybe the docuFilm 'Supersize Me') where I realised the guy in the Subway ads used to be some famous fat guy in American Television who lost a lot of weight.

Yeah, I have to say, I don't usually mind product placement - especially in TV shows where advertisers have to find new ways in now people just TIVO out the ads... but having said that, the Puma and Xbox did annoy me.

Things like the iPod being in War of the Worlds, I didn't even notice first time really - stuff like that is fine.

It would've been better if, say, the Pumas hadn't had a sole shot dedicated to them to show us they were Pumas, but I guess they paid money and didn't want them half-cropped from the screen or in the background blurred... which imho would have been better.

Yeah, I have to agree with Chris, the bloody corridor door 'set-piece' made me jump (and swear out loud too ). And the ladder one-two punch was disturbing too. Very cool.

The AI is impressive, however scripted... can't wait for the full game really.

As do I the ':o' was in relation to how inventive and imaginative some of them really are... making crates into just about anything.

What did everyone think of last night's ep?

I thought it had some amusing parts, but wasn't *that* funny. Plus, I think I agree more with the reviews that said it's missing the 'time and place' and 'momentum' of The Office so far.

Still, it's better than most of the comedy on TV at the moment.

He also jumped over the ticket counters and stuff which is a pretty stupid thing to do (that and the running part) when you know there are officers everywhere with a "kill if in doubt" rule.

Well, and also knowing that a couple of weeks ago there had been 4 bombs go off, and the day before 4 bombs had been found but didn't go off.

Still, sad. And like Lurker says, it's a slippery slope.

Looks like Aliens meets Deep Rising. I doubt it'll have some of the amusing moments from Deep Rising though, that film had some really fun/good bits.

Loved the end of the panel interview thing, though. "Now he knows why they call me The Rock."

Following in the footsteps of the Squirrel of Fu, I thought I'd post my updated site... I'd gone for minimalist before, but I've started to add in some of my past stuff that I thought was half-decent too.

Yeah poor guy, I heard on the news the bitter irony that he'd phoned his mum in Brazil and said how safe London was and how the police didn't even carry guns.

Still, shouldn't have run - although the cops were plain-clothed so maybe he thought they were gangsters or Cartell or something strange like that.

Yeah, as well as the 2 recent MGS games.

I still like listening to the songs from Little Big Adventure, although I'll be honest and say that most gaming songs wouldn't be as treasured in my collection if they didn't evoke old memories of evenings and nights spent exploring these magical gaming worlds.

I love listening to Carpenter's stuff, not for the music but from the memories/feelings/emotions it evokes of watching his films...

Then again, there's nothing like blasting on Zimmer's The Rock soundtrack or something like Judge Dredd from the underrated Alan Silvestri (Predator, BTTF, etc).

Yeah, I agree about Begins. I thought the same thing, but changed my mind while playing CS and hearing Track #3 come on... about 2 minutes in the music pumps up bigtime. Great stuff.

I thought the Team America stuff was amusingly self-referential until I found out it came from some at Zimmer's stable; that English bloke who's name I forget and could look up but who looks like Gary Oldman.

and damon lindeloff is also awesome (lost show runner)

abrams is just a guy who wrote a lot of felicity episodes.

Well, he did then go and create (and write & direct the Pilot and Season openers and enders) for Alias, which is pretty underrated over here in the UK.

I guess we'll have to wait until MI3 before I can say "yep; hack", although even then he's only directing (although 2 Alias luminaries are writing; same guys who did The Island and are doing the new Transformers movie).

You should definately give the first couple of seasons of Alias a try; they're hard to get into if you practically don't watch them on DVD, and after a hit n miss Season 4 it does seem to be going downhill, with 1 still, imho, being the best.

Hmmm. Well, that was OK I guess. I'd say early reports about it losing place and momentum due to the segmented nature of it (in that first link) are about right, although it was pretty funny.

Putting on The Catherine Tate show right after it made me appreciate it all the more though - I turned that off quick.

The episode itself was pretty amusing, but too short, I guess having The Office DVDs to hand made the half-hour episodes easier to bare.

There were some pretty damn funny Ben Stiller references "Dodgeball" and "Starsky & Hutch" and a general feeling that Stiller was almost taking over the Brent role, which he did well.
