I don't think it's a trap. The games are very comparable in scope and complexity. Witcher 3 set a new bar for production values and polish for a game of that scope and to me wins in every regard. FO4 is still fun but no way Bethesda will get away with another one of these, especially not if some more devs take cues from W3 by the time the next TES comes out.
And btw. i disagree that polsih means a game can't be crazy or random. It starts with things like plastic looking low res characters vs. highly detailed, beautiful character models.
