Not interested. Don't like the cartoony art style and obviously its a rip-off of some other games.

I really don't see the point in this game. EA has a quite strong "modern warfare" brand with Battlefield. Nobody is gonna break CoD's market dominance anytime soon. The love that franchise gets by the gamers is way too irrational and out of control. EA just make themself competition for the same market share that is left next to CoD.

I have exactly the same model. I was slightly disappointed with it when i got it tbh. The optimal viewing angle is quite small and there is some ghosting. I also hate the buttons and i had to put a small sticker over the power LED, fucking thing was like a blue laser that was burning my eye.

However colors and contrast are great. A lot better then my 3 year old 22" Viewsonic right next to it which used to have one of the best picture qualitys on the market around 2006.

I wonder if there is also a reason from a art pov for a small fov. The higher the fov the smaller stuff looks. Often too small even if its scalled correctly.

Games like Dead Space and Bioshock play with fear and the levels are mostly indoor. Could it be that they tried to achieve a more claustrophobic look?

Also could it be that they did it intentionaly to trigger uneasiness in players? It's a horror game after all. The movie Irreversible comes to mind here where the director added a low frequency noise to the ambient sound. It's barely hearable but it triggers discomfort and anxiety in a lot of people.

Did you know that Inga Humpe from 2Raumwohnung also was the singer of DÖF? That was a mindblowing fact for me when i found out.

You might also give it a try with a different race/class combination. I started with human noble and hatet it. Then i started over with elve mage and it was a lot better right from the start.

Are you using a french version of PS? It could be that your folders have different names from the english version and you have to copy it in the correct folder by hand. I know that this is the case for my german version of Photoshop. The Plug-Ins folder for example is called Zusatzmodule in my version.

This is double edged. Low FOV causes motion sickness so in essence it is their fault for not incorporating high settings to prevent this.

I really wouldn't go that far to call it their fault. It's your eye-brain coordination that is causing the nausea not the FOV. It's something that should be discussed with a doctor and not with the developers. Thats like blaming the manufacturer of a ship for seasickness.

Of course i understand that this sucks for you especialy when you work in the game dev buisness. I don't want to be in your shoes. You must feel like a cook with an allergy. Imagine you have to work on such a game.

This reminds me of when i was in the army. When you sit in a tank you see the sourounding trough an optic with like 3x magnification (minimum) and a FOV of maybe 10-20 degree. It's feels like a constant roller coaster ride for hours. Some of my comrades couldn't handle it and were forced to do a different job.

Motion sickness is not a fault of developers. Its a medical condition. The same condition that is known as travel sickness and seasickness to other people.

That b3d format seems fucked. But you can also export as *.x

I found a program called Ultimate Unwrap3D that allows you to load x files and save them in any 3d format. Importing 3ds and obj into 3dsmax from there worked for me.

Unfortunately Unwrap3D is not freeware. But this should give you a hint. Maybe someone knows a better and free way to convert x into other formats.

    edit:

    I also found this:

    http://%7boption%7d

It's supposed to work with 3dsmax. But it didn't work for me.

    edit2:

Don't know if you have noticed but this program can also be used to render foliage textures, including alpha channel

Just finished it. Took me 79 hours. According to the stats i solved 42% of the game and i only saw 90% of the locations.

My final thoughts on the game:

    PROS

    - epic main quest

    - incredible depth to character development and relations within the party

    - the plot is like a tree with so many different branches and full of surprises. your decisions really have an impact on the game world. the npc's will remember if you were good or bad to them. it's possible that due to your decissions people get killed that would have been useful to you later in the game.

    - combat system is quite nice

    - replay value seems a lot higher then for your average singleplayer game

    CONS

    - environments. sometimes they are nice to look at but often enough you find yourself in a dungeon that reminds you of half life 1 era games

    - repetitive, forgetable music. Nothing like the awesomness of the Mass Effect soundtrack

    - boring dungeon design. unfortunately thats a disease all modern rpg's suffer from. There were a couple of nice riddles but they were not more then half a dozen of them in the whole game

    - not enough different enemys. fighting the same dozen enemys over and over again in a game of this lenght gets repetitive and boring after a while. Felt almost like a chore near the end

    SUMMARY

Dragon Age: Origins is a very nice RPG but it's quite flawed in some aspects. For fans of classic western fantasy rpg's it is a must. It has a lot in common with some of the classics of the genre. Think Ultima 7 in a modern look.

That's the program that i always wanted when i was still doing mod work:

    http://www.frecle.net/index.php?show=treed.about

It's really awesome. You can use big textures for the leafs like typical for games instead of using hundrets of single leafs. So its very easy to make trees that are cheap to render.

The program is free for amateur and even commercial work and already comes with some halfway decent textures if you don't have the skills to make your own.

You will also need this 3dsmax importer:

I don't think only piracy is to blame when it comes to DS games. I would certainly buy more of them when they wern't so ridiculously overpriced. 40 Euro for a new DS game? Give me a fucking break. They shouldn't cost more then xbox live games or casual games on steam because they are in no way more complex or more detailed.
