Why do they limit their audience with these requirements? Doesn't seem like the smartest thing to do for a digital distributed indie game. Can't imagine that they have some big deals with Microsoft or hardware developers going.

edit: maybe i'm wrong. after all its developed by the world leading company for PC benchmarks

Yea i hope source gets updated sometime to something a little more wysiwyg. The whole compile process is very outdated. I'm glad that we have a server for that at my company but it still takes like 2 hours to compile my map with decent settings (would probably take 2 days on my own PC lol).

I wonder if Valve considers a complete new engine sometime in the future. Even with the newest features Source feels like a dinosaur now.

lol you should see some of the shit that went down on interlopers a while back between my friend and one of their dev members. Basically they came out looking like dicks (ND guys)Check it out

Is it necessary to bring this kind of drama from one forum to another? It's unfortunately true that what one team member says or writes in public reflects on the whole team. But let's not forget that at least 4 mapcorians work for InterWave and we are certainly not suddenly all little DaveL's.

So please don't let this personal drama between esJ and Ben escalate into full-blown company/game bashing. That's not cool and hurts all of us.

The portfolio does the job very well. Easy to access, no unneccsarry or distracting stuff in the way, no confusing navigation.

Only thing you could do to further impoove it is to add watermarks with your name and email adress to the pictures.

The story of this company is worth making a hollywood movie about. A sad one. A movie about obsession, dissociation, loss of reality.

Some nice stuff there. Love your foliage!

    A few small things:

    - The renders of your props look way too smooth. Use Catmull-Rom instead of Area for a crisp render.

    - It would be good to see not just the flat textures but also show them either rendered in a 3D package or in a game engine

Ah i didn't knew this was developed by Yager! Indeed interesting. Always wondered about this company because they seemed to come out of nowhere and managed to hire a couple of good people. Good for the german games industry to have more then one company that works on a decent action game.

Regarding Rick's duckhunt comparison. It's certainly a valid point but that was nearly the only good and fun thing about the Terminator game that i worked on in regard to gameplay.

I love the art style. It's like moving concept art. I hope there is more then just a desert setting tho.

It looks better then expected especially considering the dull afghanistan setting. You can tell they try their best to make it interesting.

The whole modern warfare thing itself gets really boring tho. Too many games have covered that by now.

Does this run on Frostbyte engine? Lighting looks similar to the Bad Company games and would make sense when Dice is making the mp for this.

For instance, I'd like books that focus on the composition involved like teaching you all about colors, lighting and shapes and how you can assemble them to give a level a soul, or all about scripting and how to pace a level, etc. rather than have all these themes only briefly mentioned in a single volume.

That would indeed a bit more interesting. Maybe something for Hourences to look into for his next book.

You can learn a lot about composition from specific art books but it still would be nice to have a book in the context of game development that covers these things.

I would also read a book where i could learn more about the methodes and workflows different people/companys use to create their levels. But it had to be a bit more in depth and detailed then your average game design book to be seriously helpfull.

All the level design books that i know are mostly interesting for absolute beginners or maybe for people from other parts of game development who want to know more about level design.

I completely agree with Erratic. Art and Architecture books is where you can learn a lot and get a lot of inspiration from as a level designer.
