Why don't you design your own map from scratch? I find it kinda lame to rip stuff from other games and it's illegal too.

It's all about money sometimes. If this wasn't the case they wouldn't make a deal with a company like Activision, ignoring everything that just happend with IW.

And how is CoD an overrated IP from a buisness perspective? It's a money printing machine. Overrated in other aspects i would agree with you happily but this barely has any weight for big companys making deals.

Wouldn't be surprised if if Bungee is working on CoD then. They speak about a new IP in the article but i will believe it when i see it.

This industry is really crazy when even one of the most renowned studios can just disintegrate like that.

lol Crycore is the new Grincore. Congrats Ginger!

    regarding topic:

I only had three interviews at game studios yet. The one at Grin wasn't really a job interview. Basicly the boss welcomed me and showed me the studio. The rest of the day i hung out with Evert etc. pretty casualy. Guess they already made up their mind about me before they met me in person.

Then last summer i had another interview in a quite well known studio. Phone interview first, then onsite interview. Had some interviews with the art lead and studio boss but all very casual and maybe 30 minutes per person. Spent a couple more hours in that studio checking everything out, eating lunch, casual talk with people and beers after work.

The third interview i had was quite short at one of the better known swedish studios. I only was in the studio for about an hour, didn't see much and didn't met many people. The interview went very smooth tho and they offered me a job.

Gotta say i like job interviews at game studios a lot more then the ones that i had in "the real world" in my earlier life. I'm usualy extremely shy when i don't know people or when i have some kind of pressure. So this was always in my way of job interviews. But in this industry i felt much more comfortable going to interviews, talking with people that i havent met etc.

played it during lunch break today ( god damn i love steam cloud ) its excellent but indie game devs seriously needs to stop binding shit to the Z key !!!

the y and z key are swapped on german keyboards (don't ask me why i think its retarded) in this game you can rebind it but but in a lot of indie games you cant so they are unplayable in germany way to cut your possible audience down unnecessarily.

Well you can switch the keyboard scheme with one simple click in your task bar. Right next to the clock the blue "DE" symbol just switch it to "EN". At least thats how it works for windows xp. i'm sure a similar thing exists for later windows versions.

I don't remember exactly if i had to install it. Just do a quick google search if you can't find it. It's called "Eingabegebietsschemaleiste" for german windows versions.

I don't get your post nineaxis. The Mona Lisa should be labeled "Painting" considering how you labeled the other things.

For me the most important thing to consider something art is that it has to be an expression of human creativity.

Things like quality or quantity should be no criterion for a thing to be considered art or not imo.

Imo the people who don't consider video games art look at them from the wrong perspective. Most games will never be art exclusivly. Games are always many things at the same time and art is just one them.

Why did the wrong movie critic have to die?

As a matter of fact Roger Ebert is dieing. Already lost his lower jaw due to cancer.

I hate movie critics. Bunch of pretentious idiots. "omg this movie sucks ass because it just came out 20 years ago and more then two people have ever heard of it".

Ok Ebert is not that bad but he should shut up about things he knows absolutely nothing about.

Also there is nothing more silly then people who only consider stuff art that they personaly like.

That's cool. I believe thats the third or even fourth studio that spawned from the ruins of Grin. However i think it will take a couple years until any of them will be ready to work on a rather big game again.

But then i dont know what Bo and Ulf are up to with their new studio. They still have all the technology and a lot of industry contacts.

    Cool stuff Klein!

When you were at Grin Barcelona did you ever work with Tor Helmstein? He's the singer of a semi famous indie band called Loveninjas.

At lot of ex guys from Grin have their own bands actualy.
