  • Helping with other team member's maps vs your own projects?

I've always helped other mappers with their stuff even during my mod days. It's a good exercise for team work. Also you will benefit from it if the extra polish makes the mod more popular. You also gain respect from your team members and leaders, that's something that can be important later on when they work in the industry and can help vouch for you to land a job at a studio.

I wouldn't put a map on the portfolio if you only made a minor contribution. But when you made a good contribution to the visual appearence of the map i don't see a problem. Just write that you did the art pass for this map and if it's worth it make a before and after comparison.

Unreal Engine 4 allows developers to see changes to the game instantly, as they work. Current production pipelines have the least WYSIWYG process imaginable: For example, when lighting elements are altered, computers have to parse the data and figure out how to render the changes. Depending on the extent of those edits, this process, sometimes called baking, can take half an hour or more. UE4 removes that bake time entirely. The effect it could have on studio workflow is staggering.

Wow that's revolutionary stuff right there.

I switched to zbrush now because i never was happy with my results in mudbox either. The mudbox brushes just suck. With zbrush i find it much easier to get decent results. The standard brushes are much better and it's simple to make your own too. Sure the program is intimidating at first compared to mudbox but the switch actualy was much easier then i thought. I'm really happy about my decision to learn zbrush eventualy.

Why is it so expensive? You can build a good PC that is adequate for all your 3D work stuff for about 10% of that money.

Also what will help you much more with your work then all this fancy hardware would be a second monitor.

Man, beeing able to look out of the window, and the thing will tell you what the weather is like, that must be the future.

It's the future indeed. Just look at Windows 8. Now your "desktop icons" will be huge with live updated information overload.

The irony is all this stuff which is designed to make your life easier actualy makes it more and more complicated and on the workplace hurts productivity.

It's already bad enough when you have real social interactions and all your friends are constantly messing with their smart phones during a conversation or while you watch a movie or show together. In the future they will look at you and talk to someone else actualy.

Hence i would prefer this technology to be used as a device for recreational purposes.

I see lots of potential there for VR apps. About fucking time VR really takes off. Sit on your couch and have a virtual stripper undress in front of you. Smoke some weed and then use an app that makes everything you see more trippy and funny. Darken the room, listen to music and the glasses project some trippy visuals in front of you. Visit a stadium or something and then see through your glasses how it's like during a match day. Stuff like this. Gonna be fun especialy once it can display 3D stuff.

Couldn't care less about all the social networking stuff.

A bit late to the party but I started watching Trailer Park Boys lately, currently on season 3, and I love it, it's hilarious.

I love TPB. One of the best comedy shows ever. It's also worth rewatching. There are so many funny details hidden that you will only notice on the second or third rewatch.

I didn't saw it, but i would like to have more info about why ? Except that HUGE umm.. drama, with the melancholia planet ..

    - only unlikable obnoxious characters

    - super annoying shaky cam. It's basicly like von Trier tried to merge Dogme '95 with high production values.

    - pseudo intellectual/artistic wank fest. there are no subtleties. It just rubs everything in your face and wants you so badly to marvel at how talented and clever von Trier is but the effect is actualy the opposite.

The planet is actualy the only good and interesting thing about the film but for the most part it's just a backdrop for the unbearable whining of the main characters instead of the center of the film.

My opinion and i actualy liked Antichrist.

Eye sight getting worse due to bad light conditions has been debunked for a while. It's an urban legend parents tell their kids to stop them reading under the blanket when they were supposed to sleep.

edit: Furyo what you talk about is probably CVS (Computer Vision Syndrome) which is only temporarely and doesn't damage the eye.

    - a lava lamp makes cozy light on your desk when you have to work late hours

    - don't touch the game magazines that lie next to the toilets. they are sprinkled with piss

    - when you have a long commute after work don't eat foods at the office that give you diarrhea

    - don't eat dry fruits if your digestion system isn't used to them. your colleagues will appreciate it

I had an ultrasound on my left ball last year because of a dull ache, turned out to be fine but still aches now and again. I've had my balls fondled by so many doctors and nurses I don't even care anymore. All the best man, you're handling it a lot better than I was/am.

Do you wear a pair of pants thats tight in the crotch area? Serious question. Thats what caused me some ball pains once. Took a while to figure it out.

We're all getting so old...... I wonder if in 60 years time, we'll all be posting on Mapcore about having our dentures fitted and how many times we've had to empty our catheters.

Don't think i'll still be around in 60 years.
