Brazil. All your talents are Football, Samba and Capoeira. Your government doesnt give a fuck about the poor people so they rob and kill each other. I heard the country had something like a rain forest. Is it still there? Your race drivers never have a chance against their german teammates. And your girls are hot. Everybody likes hanging around on the beach of Rio, flirting with the girls and drinking Caipirinha.

    Germany

games released in episodes will make it even worse. Most retarded idea evr by the way - imo. Players complain about short playtimes of modern games and what do developers? think releasing games in episodes is cool

Yea there is some annoying bugs n stuff but imo source is still a dream to work with as modder. The game i modded before (Call of Duty) was a nightmare. There was no sourcecode and nearly no documentation and support for the sdk.

They should fix the annoying inverted alphamaps hammer bug before adding hdr to the sdk.

There is a mapping community. Mapcore is only a part of it. I know a few other forums with plenty of mappers. And the hl2 modding community is everything else then small. Only Battlefield 2 has a similar huge modding community.

I think the reason you don't see so much is because so many people work on mods. I for example map, model, skin and texture nearly every day but i cant show the most of it because the mod isnt released yet.

Next year the situation will change imo. There will be some good mods released.

the lighting in the floor texture comes from the wrong direction. Maybe let this job do a normalmap instead of textururing it?

looks impressivebut I'm sure you could have done the pavilion thing in hammer as well. the lightmap doesn't work for models the same way as it works for brushwork, so the lighting looks a bit weird. also the physic model is never as accurate as brushwork (besides the fact that it must have been a pain in the ass to make the phys_model...)

It's sad to see the same textures and models again and again in different games. A retail game should have its complete own content or i will always have the impression that they only want my money. I could cry when i see the ugly naked overused to the max hl2 trees in so many games, mods and maps...

    Indeed nice work.

Peris: You can configure the resolution of the cubemaps in hammer. But huge values can be very expensive as you can imagine.

Afaik is real time raytracing the future. I have heard of it before. Modern hardware and even the coming next gen technology is too slow for it tho. But wait a few years and you will see it in games.

It depends on the society you live in. When i grow up in East Germany all the athlets were heroes for us and we were fucking proud of every gold medal at the oplympics etc. In some countrys the success of the athlets is still very important for the national identity.

Nowadays in western countrys sport has become less important. A few sportsmen are still national "heroes" tho. Michael Schumacher, Jan Ullrich, some of the ski jumpers etc. Also athlets who win at the olympic games become often very popular in germany for example.
