I haven't really been following this debate, but I'd like to point out that your eyeball example has a hole in it in that if you have 2 organisms of a species, and one is lacking one of the things essential to its survival (in this case, its eyesight) this organism is more susceptible to not surving. As such, evolution has worked in this sense. In the end, you'd find it more probable the person whose eyesight is good would survive.

"The eyeball; requires rods, cones, lens, photonic sensors of some sort, an aperture system. Lacking any element its totally useless."

Sure, it shows evidence of intelligent design, but it also shows how evolution has worked as well.

Co-op is already being done in Earned in Blood, from what I've heard. Not sure if its traditional co-op or not.

I was thinking a Halo mod for BIA might be cool, might run into some thick legal mud, with Microsoft owning the IP and such.

Uses UnrealEd, and can be used to for anything from small modifications to total conversions.

I hope this is the right forum, my apologies if it isn't.

Seeing it tomorrow. Tom Cruise is a badass actor, and Dakota Fanning never seems to disappoint. What can you say about SS other than he's one of if not the best director there is around. I'm so hyped.

I guess this should be a community decision...

There is probably a server company that would be willing to donate a server.

It should be a CS:S server IMO. HL2DM is utter garbage.

Yes, I know perfectly well that common soldiers and the average street person were not Nazis nor did they support the acts that they did, but if you think about it, there has not been a single Nazi in RTS or FPS games since the days of Wolfenstein and Spear. So why did they leave them off?

In these "realistic" games you never attack and save people from concentration camps nor do they tell you about the things that went down behind the closed door with Himmler and his SS. So now we have kiddies who think that WW2 was cool because of Tom Hanks and his Band of Brothers series. All people who have studied WW2 do not think it was that glamorous, just like RD said, american soldiers were mostly kids with no idea what they were doing and SS had some very sick agenda.

Maybe it is just me and maybe I'm wrong for hating WW2 and people who make it so glamorous, because when I watched those documents I got sick and almost threw up, and that is the effect those games should have, to remind us of what it really was, and not to entertain us.

But yeah, now if those games were as brutal as they should, they wouldn't make them, and actually, that would be way better.

I hear ya, but often times the units who were the hardcore Nazi supporters weren't anywhere near the frontlines. Thats not exactly handy for a war game, after all. If we're trying to be historically accurate, you wouldn't really run into these units in a game like Call of Duty, Medal of Honor or Brothers in Arms. Seeing as how these games (outside of BIA) are already borderline arcady and hold very loosely to history, I don't see a reason why they wouldn't implement Nazi-ized soldiers outside of the fact that many people find it offensive and the swastika is banned in Germany.

But yeah, I know what you're saying. If you've got an adrenaline meter, boss battles and other arcady shit like that, why wouldn't they throw some Nazi scum into the mix as well? I don't know.

Personally I don't get the WWII is old argument. Its not the setting you hate, its the games. There are 2 billion post-apocalypic FPSs, but that setting sees a satisfactory amount of innovation that keeps it fresh. You have games like Medal of Honor: European Assualt that has things like an adrenaline meter where if you get enough adrenaline, you get infinite ammo and you're invurnable. That shit is whack.

I'm also getting sick of the light hearted approach and glamorizing (is that even a word) of the actual happenings, the games portray USA troops as valiant heroes with clean morales and bright white smiles and German soldiers as just regular German soldiers, not Nazis nor do they portray the actions both sides took during the war.

Not sure what you meant by the German comment, but I'll go by what I think you're trying to say. You're trying to say that most of the German soldiers in the military during WWII were Nazi and sympathized with everything the Nazi's were doing. Thats no where near entirely correct, while there were certain factions of the German military which were fiercily loyal, such as the SS, the vast majority of German units were composed of conscripts, for example the normal soldiers you speak of. Most of these people were not Nazis, rather, fighting for their country. Most were completely normal and level-headed human beings. The nutcases who were carrying out the atrocities generally weren't level-headed or sane, and shouldn't be confused with conscripted units.

Then again, you could have meant exactly that, and I could just have misunderstood what you said.
