Well just to jump on the bandwagon, I had a run through as well. The screenshots really made it look incredible, but in game, while still pretty, it is less impressive. I spawned at the top of some fire escape on the outside of a building, and found my only real choice of route was to head down two stair sets, a ladder, and run along a platform - much too far a distance to travel without being offered an alternative route. The fire escape was also only really wide enough for a single person to fit past. I was unhappy to see this was the case with the vast majority of the map. The main interior section had potential with all the criss-crossing upper tiers, however again it is just one linear path in essence. Worse still was the exceptionally cramped lower sections - being forced to duck under train carriage connectors, and even having to crouch to get through what claims to be a doorway, just doesn't lead to a good deathmatch experience.

With looks like this, the author obviously has huge potential, but he needs to play some deathmatch games.

Its funky for the reasons its wireless and without batteries, but its not very smooth, needs to be used on the tablet, and can't match a good old MS Optical Intellimouse for most purposes. I wouldn't dream of using it for gaming at any rate.

Its a model of graphics tablet, made by the main tablet manufacturers Wacom. Its their most reasonably priced model, hence why a lot of people who are merely interested in art seem to have them.

To me those screenshots just looked like a poor heightmap - it doesn't really look very high poly or natural to me, and the textures are distorted horribly. If you were making some sort of flying game or something it would be fine I guess, but if you tried to play an FPS on that sort of terrain it would look shit. That said, I'd like to see somebody pull something that scale off in MOST engines designed for FPS's and have it not look like ass.

Put a negative value into the scale options to flip it in that direction.

God, everybody got Graphires for christmas it seems, add me to the list I've barely had a chance to use it really, and the one night I set aside to play with it was spent just getting the hang of the damn thing! Once I get back into doing some more drawing I can see it being very handy, I like mucking around with anime style characters and colouring them on the computer seems much easier.

Funky map, looks like something made in a 3D modelling package as opposed to a level editor.

That little stair set looks like it would collapse under its own weight - make it look more supported or attached to the wall. You shouldn't be afraid to use more colour in your level, its all very drab as it is.

Cool theme, and nicely realised to boot Hope you get this done in time for the contest...well, sorta hope

Dropping the lightmap scale would hit performance, but I've no idea how much by. Just test it, see how it goes I guess.

EDIT: Dunno if you are trying to make the sections of the building look round or not, but if you are then you should assign smoothing groups. I've found them to be fairly effective for making low face count curves look nice and smooth.

That texture repetition on the ceiling with the alternating bands of lightly and heavily rusted metal looks pretty bad. You could probably at least get away with upping the texture scale a bit due to its distance from the player, and you may want to look for an alternative that tiles in both directions nicely.

I think OL is being a little extravagent in his description but I'm leaning more to his side of things than the majority's here. The office/lab type section is pretty nice and the garage/warehouse is quite cool, but the outdoors are dull and the tunnels looked pretty crap in my opinion. Its not a bad map, but its not up to the standards of some of the others in my opinion.

I must say, if I was looking to build a house, next to a sewer outlet in a small hollow near a warehouse would be my plot of choice

I think that visually its one of the worst actually, I think most of the other maps came out far better with their remakes. Its far from ugly it just isn't much to my liking I guess. Should still be fun to play though, which is the most important thing after all

If you are building a portfolio, then you want a variety of settings in my opinion. You are not only trying to demonstrate that you are capable of making great looking environments, but also a wide range of environments.

Why do you have to turn off AA for screenshots? Does it give an error, or does it just give crappy results? You might also want to try binding a key to "screenshot" in the console, as I think thats the command that writes out a TGA rather than a JPG and it might allow AA to be on perhaps.

Make the tops of the cliffs far less flat, looks really unrealistic at the moment. I like the little river running between the sewer pipes though, its got a good shape to it.
