Wow, somebody else who played Breakdown, and to the end at that! What did you think of it? I thought it was hugely flawed but I still really enjoyed it. First person spewing and bungee jumping FTW!

Thank christ for that Might have been wise to have a follow up message that made it clear it was a joke though, as to me it just read as the ridiculous PR bullshit that you were actually trying to mock. But then maybe I'm just slow Looking forward to playing it on Thursday!

Awesome, glad to see a new release of this as it was very entertaining for a few lunch hours. I'll definately give it another try. New classes look like fun, the new maps (or map) look rather sexy, and if it's undergone other general polish I've no doubt it'll be a really solid release.

What the hell was that "The release that will change the face of modding" bullshit in the video though? Ill advised...

    Sexy new bindings!

    [Blocked Image: http://images.boardwise.com/lrg/038215.jpg]

Lots of other bits and bobs, like...

    - Mass Effect (loving)

    - Super Mario Galaxy (seems awesome from the tiny bit I've played - my Wii feels justified!)

    - Afro Samurai DVDs

    - Bourne movie collection DVDs

    - Awesome new wallet

    - Beer

    - Money

Thinking I'm gonna buy myself one of those messenger chat pad things for the 360, as much because they look so cool as because it might be handy I'll probably use the rest of the money to pick up clothes or something in the sales.

Seriously though, I don't really see what the problem is here. There's a guy who prefers Halo, and a guy who prefers other FPS games, and they disagree. Granted, the first guy seems to be a Halo fanboy with no time for anything else, but hey, it's their loss.

    Personally I enjoyed them all.

  • Music library organization

    • ReNo
    • December 16, 2007 at 1:24 PM

I use a fairly similar approach to Thrik, dissonance and sentura. Unfortunately I didn't do that from the start, so I've got a ridiculous amount of stuff that is just all the tracks have from a band shoved in one folder.

So my current job that has been stretching on for months and months is reorganising everything. I've got a network attached HDD so everyone in my flat can access stuff, and on it I've got a nicely organised "music" folder which probably has about 25% of my music in it which is setup as my Winamp media library. The rest is just a wasteland, with hundreds of bands waiting for me to listen to them again so I get around to sorting their stuff in album folders with track numbers. For somebody like Less Than Jake, of whom I have pretty much everything they've ever done, that prospect isn't exactly appealing!

I wish I'd had the foresight to use a decent organisation system when I first started collecting music

I kinda liked the teaser, but I hated the voice acting. Which makes it odd I kinda liked the trailer, seeing as it was pretty much all just her talking.

I totally agree with some earlier sentiments about 3D not ruining a beat-em-up. Tekken's always been solid, some of the 3D Street Fighters were cool (the first EX game was awesome, sequels less so due to lack of progress), Dead or Alive is a little TOO accessible and shallow for tech fans but still fun if you want some pick-up-and-play excitement, and the Soul Calibur series is fabulous on all accounts. I'm a lot more excited about the prospect of SFIV now than I would be if it were 2D.

  • The new year is coming...

    • ReNo
    • December 8, 2007 at 3:16 PM

It's been a year of ups and downs for me, professionally. I can't really talk too much about the job side of things but suffice to say things were not good for a significant part of the year. Gladly things worked out well though, and with everything back on track I'm really enjoying it again. I work with a great bunch of folks, in a nice office, earning decent pay, and getting a lot of creative input. Can't really ask for much more than that to be honest!

On a personal note, things have also been up and down. Had a string of short lived relationships, and when it isn't you calling them short it can be a bit of a confidence hit. That said, the fact I've managed to find other ladies to get involved with each time is an improvement on how things were in the past I guess I'm a bit more confident in that area than I used to be. I moved out of my parents house and into a flat with some mates during the autumn, and I'm really enjoying having my own space. Just unfortunate that they are a bunch of skint students and I'm earning decent money, as it typically means I'm the one left paying for half the stuff they can't afford! Shoulda seen it coming really.

Hopes for 2008? Well I'm pretty satisfied with my life just now, but I guess I'd like to start going out a bit more and meeting more people. Particularly attractive young ladies

    SPOILERS

    SPOILERS

    SPOILERS

    SPOILERS

I finished it in coop yesterday, enjoyed it start to finish. I must say though, that Havana and afterwards I wasn't quite so keen on. I loved the crime vibe the game had going, with business suits and so on, but Havana onwards went a bit too military. Still fun to play, in places actually more so, it just lost some of it's identity. I'd also have liked the fights against The7 members to have been more significant. It was pretty much only the final two that felt like a significant moments - the others I only really knew I'd killed because the revenge achievements popped up.

The endings are both pretty disappointing. I quite liked the fact they are both tragic endings, it's a brave move I've not seen done before, but I didn't like the implementation. Really short cut scenes and neither felt like a good payoff for the game. When you rescue Shelley, he runs off and dies. I think it's a nice move killing the daughter, but you could at least have got Shelley out I reckon. And if you take the chopper, why the hell don't you take Lynch?! He was stood right next to me, then I chose the chopper and he's suddenly back down at the plane saying "I fucking knew it...". Another minor annoyance is Lynch changing his opinion. All through the car chase/plane level he's saying "we've got to rescue them!", then you go to do it and he starts whining at you for not taking the chopper.

But despite all the niggles I had with the game, I still really enjoyed playing through it. I'll definitely finish it off in single player as well at some point.

EDIT: Something I meant to mention is that, on the 360 version at least, the initial control sensitivities are horrible. I put aim acceleration right up and increased the aim/turn speeds, and it became much easier to play. I recommend you try tweaking these yourself, as watching that video review made it look like he hadn't bothered.

Legend was great; I still need to snag Anniversary.

If you liked Legend or the original Tomb Raider then get it - best of both worlds, albeit less "holy shit this is incredible!" than the first game was at the time it came out. I stopped playing my PC version once I heard a 360 version was coming, but I've not got around to picking that up yet. Might do once I finish K&L actually...
