Something tells me that this instance of They Hunger won't prove as popular as the others. I don't mind mods going commercial if they are commercial quality, but if something is a "different game" yet uses what looks to be almost entirely the same resources as the game it is based upon, it ISN'T commercial quality.

Little update, fixing the font and changing the title image a bit (a circle wasn't really in keeping with the rest of the design).

EDIT: IE screws up a the page a bit (links and copyrght info sit too high, "indent.gif" which is at the bottom of each table segment is pushed too far right and looks daft), and I've spent ages trying to fix it unsuccessfully. If any HTML guru's feel generous and bored and take a look at the page source for the problem, I would appreciate it. For now, I sleep. 9am maths tomorrow. Argh.

Jesus bic, you've an awful lot of faith in that precariously balanced piece of wood stopping heavy pieces of equipment crashing onto your head while you sleep
There's even an original Xbox pad on there - that's enough to kill you! -
Hehe yeah, thumbnails are just there to test layout, obviously they will ACTUALLY link to full size versions eventually
Map description text has now been shifted to lower case - was a bit "unfriendly" I guess. I'll probably have to change the links into images if I want to use the same font as I've used elsewhere on the page, but its hardly gonna be a huge additional file size or anything.Hey, it's gotta be better than this, right?

Oooh lookin' good ferret! Strikes a balance between realistic and fictional in my eyes. Made me think of the new FFVII game "Dirge of Cerberus" for some reason - I think there was some helicopter screenshot I saw that had a similar design. Very professional looking anyways, good job

Hey guys, I'm currently working on a portfolio for myself and would appreciate people's thoughts and suggestions on it before I get TOO committed to the way it is. Obviously there isn't really anything much in the way of content there just yet (other than a hoarde or thumbnails) but comments on the style and layout would be appreciated. Thanks

Nothing for me. My 6800GT broke a few weeks back, sent it back for replacement, and ended up getting a refund. Unfortunately I got my 6800GT for an astounding bargain (£165), and bargains like that don't exist anymore
I'm now using the money to buy a 6800 standard and a 1gb memory card for my PSP. Nothing left over for any games unfortunately. -
Good job getting them all (or near enough without searching). With my flatmates help we got 33, though we basically had 34
Also note we were drunk, which may not have helped! -
I'm with you Nazul, I couldn't figure it out, yet it seems like it should be so obvious!

Oooh thats nicer
The bar is looking very cool indeed - nice variety of lighting in there. A couple of suggestions - get some frames on the windows in the ruined room (if there are already some, they could use more oomph as it doesn't look like it), and change the texture on the bottom of the pillars in the first shot. -
25 on my first try and 30 after a couple of additional guesses. Don't think I can get any more than that without doing some hunting...which I'm not inclined to do

-
The first shot is more final than the second, but both are subject to change. I'm definately gonna do something with the lighting in the second one, and quite possibly in the first. I'll try out some blue and see how it looks - should provide a nice contrast to the orange. Thanks for the comments and positivity guys, means a lot

Been out of level design for months and months now, so been playing around with some things the past couple of days to get back into it. Some may recognise this from a few months back - it was going to be my part of DrGlass's mosaic project (basically a group map effort) but unfortunately that seems to have died a death. I'm planning on continuing the theme and doing some sort of Vagrant Story style dungeon/mine. All, or at least most, of the map will take place underground.
Also notice I'm jumping on the screenshot marking bandwagon - do you think this is too much or too intrusive? I was toying with a few designs, some of which more subtle than this one.

Nah I'm afraid not, but thanks for the suggestion. I found a solution in copying the contents of a problem map into a new empty VMF file. No idea why it worked, but it did
I'd saved the original map into a variety of files and it didn't make any difference, but copying and pasting did

Awesome! Now we just need Chuck Norris to come up with a rival drink

If I wanted fame and recognition I woulda moved onto mapping for mods that people actually play

He raises some good points there but a few I don't agree with. He seems to be saying that you should only map when you are in a good mood, but I've often used to it to get out of a bad one and I don't necessarily think it always results in poor work. He also seems very jaded about the scene and possibly taking some jibes at more of the famous names, but most of the biggies I've come across in my time have been really nice people who do it for the love of it. People often say there is too much one-upmanship and non-constructive criticism around, but I musta been lucky over the years because everywhere I visit has been far more full of camaraderie than competition.

Check out the CGTalk forums, I'm sure you'll find plenty of signatures with portfolio links and things there...

That building is gorgeous. Its a simple design but with the lighting and small details it looks extremely realistic and believable. The rest of the map is looking cool too, and its hard to bitch about the generic theme given it fits the mod so well. Good job, I like. I'm gonna start doing that screenshot labelling too
