Rotating objects on the z-axis SHOULD spin an object on the XY plane - sounds to me like they introduced a new bug if it no longer does that.

Yeah, it costs 400 marketplace points or something, which equates to about £5 I believe. There is a free demo you can download first though, so check it out and see what you think

Download Geometry Wars Retro Evolved from the Xbox 360 Live arcade - the original minigame from PGR2 was an absolute blast and the videos and review I read of this update make it sound even cooler. It's a panic inducing retro game with crazy particle effects - pure adrenaline pumping fun

I've actually heard that the 360 version of Madden was missing out on some features of the other versions, but I haven't done any sort of investigation to weed out what truth there is behind it.

Yes there is, and displacements are shown properly too - that's one of the nicest (and most bloody necessary) updates

Some guy on the snarkpit apparently heard word of it from Adrian Finol who is a programmer at Valve. I can't really confirm anything and I didn't notice anything about it in the current beta, but as I said, there are whispers

I had heard whispers of previewable lighting, which would be neat

Best of luck getting into that uni mino, sounds like a good opportunity!

I'm currently in my 4th and final year of uni, studying computer games tech. The uni is pretty shitty but I met some good mates - unfortunately too closed a group and now that half of them have left uni, I basically just chill with my flatmates. I'd say that's not the best situation to find yourself in by the way - we never end up going out, which would probably be true regardless given my current workload and financial status!

My social life only really exists back at home - at uni I seem to live only for computery stuff. I think I got in with a "bad crowd" Women...well occasional things here and there back home but I haven't pulled at uni for...well, two years or something I'm somewhat disillusioned with my previously chosen career (level design), so don't know what I'm going to be applying for once I finish uni in 6 months. I lack any modern engine portfolio stuff for level design, have too much stuff to do for uni to really focus on improving my modelling skills, and while I'm a reasonable programmer, I'm far from the competence level to be applying for games programming jobs! I don't wanna be one of those graduate supermarket attendants

All in all, things could most certainly be worse, but I'm not at my best

Nice update indeed - most significant overhaul to hammer for a long long while. Pity I don't have time for mapping at the minute or I'd actually have another crack at finishing up something for source.

I think that the 360 and PS3 have plenty of power to manage both AA and AF, thank god

Mazy, I hate you. You aren't even excited, yet you still get one at launch. I can't wait until I'm an employed and earning citizen as opposed to skint and scrounging student I'd love one for PGR3, Condemned, Amped 3 and DOA4, not to mention half a dozen other later games that tickle my fancy. I've had all the current gen systems for a while now so not been limited in what games I can buy, but I will be for at least a year now, which is gonna be painful. At least when I finally get one I'll have dozens of tempting games instead of a handful...which maybe isn't such a good thing.

I guess that means I voted "when they actually get some interesting games", but that decision isn't made by choice

You're taking that comment out of context to be honest - he said he listens to all genres besides country and rap, then went on to give examples of rock groups. Varied rock groups indeed, but not examples that are particularly indicative of a varied music taste. Not that I give a shit, just throwing my nose in where it doesn't belong for some reason

Oh, er....I'm listening to the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children soundtrack, to give my post some justification

Nice stuff man, and you are selling yourself short with your comments Not sure what to make of the sword though, whats it for? Looks a nice enough 2D cutout, but it has no depth?

The ellipsis is the new comma!

Out of curiousity, is there a reason why you are using nodraw brushes to cover wall indents and the like, rather than using clip brushes? Clip brushes are made for that purpose after all, and can allow bullets and physics objects to pass through (or not, if you don't want).

I'm finding the brick repetition a little much - needs some variety. In the previous areas you broke up the walls quite nicely but here there is too much in the way of flat expanses.

I'm not even in the industry, but I agree. I doubt I could hack doing that much more work after hours in the same field as I've spent the day. Maybe a bit here and there to work with some theme you don't get the opportunity to at work, but I don't think I'd be jumping at the chance to crack open another editor once I've got through my front door. There's more to life than what people do for a living, no matter how much they love that thing.
