After playing PGR3 in a shop today, I'm a firm believer that well done motion blur is the shit. It makes such a difference!

Haha, the cop looks pretty like the one from the first game, so good on them. Bird on the right is that fit-yet-square-jawed one from Pitch Black Can't really tell much about it yet, but I'll probably watch it regardless.

Interlopers seems to be one of the premier HL2 editing sites these days, at least in popularity. I visit once in a while but haven't really explored it properly or at length. Seems like a neat place though - I'd probably frequent it if I could be bothered with another community.

Nah, it's PS2 only. Nice looking game, at least seemed it from the demo, but pretty naff gameplay...it seemed from the demo I always meant to pick it up merely because it's now cheap and one of few non-PC FPS games potentially worth playing, but as of yet I haven't.

Well the key members behind Goldeneye and Perfect Dark went on to form Free Radical, who make the Timesplitters games. If you play one, you'll see they make no effort to hide their roots

It's too subjective a topic for one person's opinion to sway anothers, but I'd say PGR3, Ridge Racer 6, Condemned, Amped 3 and DOA4 are pretty damn appealing.

Yeah I dig 2pi, but 360 has grown on me a lot more than Xenon. As others have said though, that is Rainbow Six 3 on the Xbox, not a 360 / Xenon / 2pi game

    Quote from Kosmo

Isn't that the coolest movie ever The movie has worst script ever, but the action scenes are way too cool and the setting is nicely done.

Hehe yeah, the script is really pretty poor. The whole "no emotions" thing seems to fall by the wayside more often than not Badass action though, and Christian Bale in his white outfitnear the end is the definition of cool.

  • Hammer 4.1 BETA is out - New issues

    • ReNo
    • December 1, 2005 at 12:12 AM

Do you not understand the concept of "beta" releases or something? Of course it has bugs - the thing exists and was released for the very purpose of identifying and fixing them. Beta releases are by no claim stable or fully functioning. If you have problems, report them. If they are already known problems, then you will have to wait for solutions.

If you want to roll back to the old version, how about you read some of the documentation and do so rather than shout about how it is impossible?

    Quote

If you roll-back from the beta SDK by removing the command line you will need to re-extract hammer and its other files from the SourceSDK GCF using GCFScape

Now stop whining, and be happy Valve are continuing to work on their editor to improve it.

Musa: The Warrior (just known as The Warrior over here) is one of my favourites actually Just bought a very similar movie to it the other day called "Warriors of Heaven and Earth", which while at times feeling like a bit of a rip off and didn't feel as emotionally strong, is still very worth watching. Plus its got the ever lovely Zhao Wei in it...ever lovely except when she is bald and disfigured in Shaolin Soccer that is

I've seen both Zatoichi and Brother, and enjoyed both of them. Beat Takeshi is certainly one of the few actors that can make Japanese films appear in shops over here.

One of my flatmates is Chinese and he got me into HK cinema, hence my love for it. Over the past 4 years we've watched dozens and dozens of asian movies - at one point we were watching about 4 asian movies a week he kept buying them so fast Things have kinda slowed down now as he seemed to pick up pretty much every obvious choice in the back catalogue, but between us in the flat we seem to get most of the big new ones.

Oh and if you haven't, check out "The Happiness of the Katakuris". It's a Japanese movie by Takashi Miike (of Ichi the Killer and Audition fame), which pretty much gives away the fact it is going to be fucking crazy, but it's not the OTT violence and cruelty you might expect from him. It's a comedy musical. With zombies. And volcanoes. Utter madness, but so unique and enjoyable it could only be Japanese

  • Yet another school project...

I'm not a sailor (though was for a short while), but I do live in a harbour town, and this strikes me as a VERY weird shape for a boat such as this. For one, rarely are they symmetrical end-to-end. Typically you will have a flat back in order to fit an outboard motor. Also, a keel, though not all that pronounced on such a small boat, is pretty important to make the boat keep balanced. A keel is a structure under the boat that stops it simply spinning over if too much weight is applied to one side or a wave knocks it. You can see one here...

    [Blocked Image: http://www.boatnerd.com/news/newpictures03/Can-Transfer-keel-4-03-FVR.jpg]

Now it could be as simple as just a ridge running along the length of the boat under the middle, anything to break the smooth curve and provide a resistance against it flipping over really. The central outdenting of the sides is a bit wierd too, and I gues is there to suggest the boat is old and warped, but the symmetry of each side makes it look more like a design feature of the boat to me. How about adding in some oar rests for additional detail too?

    Hope this helps out somewhat

Going snowboarding with my dad somewhere, and otherwise just chilling with my mates back home. My winter hol's are kinda short though, and I've got my 4th year honours project to continue working on, so I'll probably not get out and about all that much.

I find myself far more interested in asian cinema than western cinema these days Kosmo, and you've listed some great films and some I've yet to see. Been meaning to pick up Azumi and it's sequel for a while now. Volcano High was awesome as it reminded me so much of Rival Schools, right down to the kendo fighters and crazy teachers

You ever watched Infernal Affairs series? I've seen the first two, both of which are great (crime thriller fans, watch these movies!), but I'm sceptical about the third. I'm planning on picking up a copy of the trilogy for myself since the ones I watched belonged to my flatmate.

We've watched the 24 season 4 DVD's a while back, but maybe it came out earlier in the UK since they stopped showing the program on TV
