Needs Ivy's sword/whip from Soul Calibur. Too much of a focus on FPS games for me, but I guess they are the games in which the weapon is most "in your face" and directly controlled, so it doesn't come as a huge surprise.

Oh hardly - it might not have been the most exciting match all the way through but it wasn't that bad. Think of crap like the Switzerland vs. Ukraine match...or anything with Switzerland for that matter

Vault 13 eh I like what I see. Will be nice to see it as part of a larger scene and all skinned up.

Hey guys, any of you particularly "in the know" when it comes to TVs? My current one is sorta on its last legs so I've decided to go the whole hog and get a really good replacement to last me a while. Its kinda like a Birthday/Graduation/First Paycheck treat My requirements...

      [*:1yrt5o8g]32" or higher
[*:1yrt5o8g]VGA or DVI or whatever connectors let me rig it up to my PC

Best I've found seems to be the Hyundai Q321. I was looking at it on Overclockers who had it for £750, but Novatech just dropped their price on it to £600, which is significantly lower than the prices everywhere else. There are 8 5/5 reviews on Novatech and 32 reviews on ebuyer that also average 5/5 - I've yet to read anything particularly bad thing about the set. They also have a Hyundai A321 for the same price, which isn't listed on the Hyundai website which leads me to think its an older or discontinued model. The A321 comes with HDMI input while the Q321 comes with the (older) DVI input instead (other connections seem to be the same). The Q321 also has integrated Digital and Analogue tuners, while the A321 seems to only have analogue. Here are links to their respective pages on Novatech...

    Q321: http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specp…ml?nov-q321&P=1

    A321: http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specp…ml?nov-a321&P=1

Any advice on either of these, or suggestions of other models to look at? Not sure how important or useful it would be to have HDMI over DVI at the moment given I've nothing that outputs HDMI, but I've heard the PS3 will use that interface.

Mazy is so with the times, that he is beyond the times.

I saw a trailer for this quite a while back and liked what I saw. Haven't been playing my PSP for a long while but now I've got significant travels every day to work I'm getting back into it. I think this is my next PSP game

Wow, full speed PSX emulation would be awesome. I wonder when Sony are gonna get around to doing the PS1 stuff for the PSP they mentioned ages ago?

Haha, take a look at the pre-order page on Steam as well - gives the minimum spec as "Windows 1000" and recommended spec as "Windows 200" Sloppy Valve

Don't think I have played with you yet, I'll look you up next time I play. Will probably be at the weekend, possibly the normal Sunday playtest slots, as I've a fair amount of work to be doing before then

I'm working on The Ship, and I vouch for it being much fun All the team jump into a big playtest on Friday afternoons and its always a great laugh. People spewing all over the place after being poisoned, or peeing themselves in the middle of a corridor (or even collapsing into a pile of dust) due to neglecting their needs, never fails to entertain It feels so different to other FPS games due to the less hectic, more subtle gameplay, and while that might not be everybodies cup of tea, it certainly sets it apart. And of course it can still be hectic when your hunter whips out a Katana and all you have to defend yourself is a frying pan!

As CJ said, people don't really appreciate the game until they have played it and "get" it (as in, understand how to play). I remember playing the HL1 mod and some people were slagging it off because they simply didn't know what they were doing. The Ship is all about being cunning - misleading both your quarry and your hunter - but it also relies a lot on learning the maps - knowing where to find weapons, where to tend to your needs, and where to watch out for security. The more time you put into the game the more enjoyable it becomes

I look forward to playing any of you guys who decide to grab the game come July. If anybody has any questions about the game then fire away and I'll answer if I can!

PS. Sorry Frie, beta testers were chosen before I started working here

Very true nico, forgot about that one! Breakdown's is rather cooler though - as I remember it (might not be accurate!) you get blown off a roof by an explosion caused by a helicopter shooting missiles at you, and as you fall, your female companion dives off the roof with a cord attached and grabs you. Breakdown had some seriously awesome moments to it, but the sad truth was that the bulk of the gameplay was kinda poor. Still, underrated and underappreciated game - just one of many cool Xbox exclusives that people completely overlook when they say the console only has PC ports or cross platform titles.

I was flicking between it and other things for a while, but it seemed a bit boring and I couldn't have cared less about the two teams, so I stopped. Wish I hadn't now, sounds crazy!

The diffrence is that military fights the military or terrorists, and terrorists fight civilians

But BF2 doesn't advertise or glorify killing civilians - you can only kill military people.

Breakdown on the Xbox, now THERE was a game focused on FPS melee combat Lots of moves and a nicely handled first person viewpoint at all times (including the first ever first person spewing and bungee jumping scenes unless I'm mistaken!) Pity it was a bit crap overall, but it certainly had its moments, and given it was pretty much the first of the wave of FPS melee games it deserves recognition.

I don't think I could heap enough praise on your work to be honest. I think that is possibly the nicest level designer/environment artist portfolio I've ever come across. Many congratulations again on the job - with a portfolio like that I'm pretty sure you coulda had your pick of the companies

Yet the American government can create a game killing it's opposers, and not be considered the same thing? Fucking hypocritical bastards...

Somehow I actually forgot about that. I'm not so sure their problem with it is that it is an American game (though that does rub salt in the wounds), I think they just have a problem with the fact they are using computer games to glorify terrorism and lure in children, and that really is hypocritical considering AA is designed to do exactly the same thing for the American army.

EDIT: Oh and this should really be in games industry discussion, shouldn't it?

Don't think there is a fix - as far as I know the latest update to Hammer screwed it up for ATI card users such as yourself.
