For interviews I go with a shirt or polo-shirt, and some fairly smart jeans or chinos. Nothing OTT like a suit, but not what I'll end up wearing after a few weeks in the office either ![]()

Just thought I'd throw this link in for anybody who hadn't read it yet. It's an interview with SCEE boss David Reeves, and he's rather more open than I'd have expected. It's got a few suprising answers, such as...
QuoteEurogamer: But you're still asking people to commit GBP 425 to a games console. Isn't there a problem with the perception that that's an awful lot of money to shell out?David Reeves: It is, but surprisingly, people are paying that amount of money for it.
and...
QuoteEurogamer: How concerned are you about possible criticisms that you should have given European consumers what Sony America gave the US; the option to pay a lower price?David Reeves: Well, they're not really are they, because what the US are offering from the 1st of August is a USD 599 version with one game. All they're doing is taking their stock they've got at the moment of the 60GB model, marking the price down and it will all be gone by the end of July.

Completely readable if you ask me, I didn't have any problems. Are those of you with trouble reading it using CRT monitors? I'm guessing from the "...and LCD screen horizontal deformation" that under such circumstances it might not work too well.

I gave it a play last night and was also impressed. I never played AC5 but did enjoy AC4 on the PS2, so I wasn't that surprised I liked this one. What I love about the AC games is that they might feature real planes, but they plonk you into far fetched scenarios that are so much more interesting that ordinary flight sims. Those nimbus missiles you end up facing in the demo are an example, but AC4 had some really cool missions tasking you with taking out an orbital cannon before it can launch from its rollercoaster-esque ramp, or sinking giant submarines that have some sort of area effect weapon that destroyed anything below a certain altitude. Also, while the storylines (and place names....Gracemeria, urgh!) tend to be a little cheesy and badly acted, I do appreciate how much more involved they are than your typical flight sim. The fact they've got multiplayer in this one just makes it more appealing - coop over Live to replace your wingmen in the campaign would be cool too.

Never been a fan of the xbox myself, the Playstation seems much more of a 'gamer' console, it gets the stronger franchises and more support from the Japanese market. 360 seems to be much more casual, lots of sports games and generic shooters I couldn’t really care for.
Odd, I've always been of the opposite opinion. The people I know who are more "hardcore" gamers tend to be Xbox/360 fans, and its the "semi-gamers" who seem to go for the PS2/PS3. I can see your point in some regards though as the PS2 certainly had a huge supply of niche and obscure titles that made it indispensible for dedicated gamers, but I've always found that one of the big problems the 360 faces is its lack of appeal to casual gamers as opposed to the hardcore.
Then again I love racing games and shooters, so I guess I'm almost the ideal customer for the 360

I really hope this is NOT the link Major Nelson provided

Ooops, copied the URL from the wrong tab  Lets try that again...

According to the new Playstation blog, Sony's conference will be streamable from http://%7boption%7d. Not sure about the others, but Microsoft did it last year didn't they, so they probably will this year too.
EDIT: According to majornelson, you can get watch Microsoft's one at http://%7boption%7d.

I too think Microsoft is going to have the strongest showing. Their keynotes have tended to be slick, interesting, and content heavy, particularly when compared to a lot of the meandering and theoretical ones given by Sony and Nintendo about bringing the family together or harnessing the power of the Cell. I'm not too sure what bombs they could drop though; most things they announce I imagine will be quite expected. I hope and expect them to detail their plans for bringing the video marketplace to Europe and elsewhere, although while I will probably use the service, it isn't something that greatly excites me. I wouldn't be surprised to hear MGS4 is coming to the 360 either; if so then most likely a few months after the PS3 release, but *fingers crossed* with added multiplayer
Oh and please please please announce a Crimson Skies sequel. Please. More on the new Kingdom Under Fire and Ninja Gaiden 2 would be nice too.Sony? I reckon they'll have a solid showing, and an improvement over the last few efforts. Rumble going back in the controller is likely on the cards IMO, although its one of those awkward issues where they initially underplayed its importance and now are going to have to completely reverse their stance if they wish to tout it. Unless of course it is some fancy new force feedback system - in that case they can downplay lesser forms of vibration
I'm curious as to how Killzone 2 is gonna turn out, and how much they shot themselves in the foot with the old pre-rendered footage.Nintendo? Oddly, I don't even really care. At all. I want a Wii but only for mucking about on with mates - I honestly don't mind whatsoever if they manage to get some "proper" games announced because if I want those games I can get them on the 360, PC, or (when I eventually buy one) PS3. I suppose I'd be interested in seeing a new Mario Kart.
What would be the nicest birthday present (I'm 23 today, yay!) from E3? Well I'd like SEGA to continue some of their better franchises from the last generation. Gimme a new Jet Set Radio, or Gunvalkyrie, or Otogi, or Shenmue, or Panzer Dragoon. Hell, even Breakdown! Chance of this happening? Fuck off%

LOL Peris, your comments on your own map's page aren't exactly... subtle

Personally I don't really "get" Gameflood; they seem to have their focus on some sort of obscure level customisation feature, which I'm really not sure anybody uses. And why can't I see what maps/whatever a person has submitted by viewing their profile? That seems like an absolute bare minimum feature on that sort of website!
Oh and anybody who feels inclined to vote for Weaver can do so here, although given nobody has so far I think it's fairly safe to say it's outta the running

I was very curious about how long they would remain tight lipped about the problem when such a large portion of the gaming media around the world was hounding them for it, so it's nice to finally have an answer. I think it is a costly move but one that ultimately had to be done, as word was beginning to eek outside of the gaming community and into the mainstream. I also think that it was very good timing on Microsoft's part - getting this announcement out before E3 means people have their faith in the company somewhat restored, and it means they don't have to concern themselves with a negative issue once at the show. I'm pleased at the move

This is the first time I've seen Guitar Hero (and related games) discussed and the majority of comments have been negative. I've not played it so can't really comment, but I just found it interesting to see everybody being negative about this sort of game after everybody seemed to be in love with it a year or two back

I remember reading that there are actually several full length movies in the game - when you come across TVs you can just kick back and enjoy them for as long as you wish

Two Towers? As in the LOTR hack and slash Two Towers

Oh the cruelty - 95% and for some reason the download speed has dropped to 0.0kbps. I left it for a while, then tried pausing and unpausing, but it's having none of it. Looks like it might be back to the start for me
Ah well, I wasn't gonna be playing it tonight anyway I suppose... -
Oh come on, its not like no-quite-ideal distribution methods are gonna spoil the actual game - just learn a little patience people, you'll be playing soon enough!
-
Sorry JeanPaul, but were those gigantic screenshots meant to convince us the game looks sexy? I'm afraid it still doesn't look any better than BF2
Still, I haven't played it yet, so here's hoping it plays a little different/better. -
Will Smith chose a nice car
Looks interesting, I'll definately keep my eye on it. -
Aww that last pic is cute as cute can be
Congratulations mate, best of luck in the coming months and years

Does ET:QW have incredible marketing buzz? Also, while it did have some gorgeous looking screenshots, the beta doesn't exactly look so stunning.
What is the course you are doing by the way ginger?
