  • The elephant in the room - Kane & Lynch reviews :D

Played from the start again in single player tonight, and didn't wanna stop playing until I hit the Havana mission. At that point I realised it was 1.30 so I should probably start thinking about getting some sleep Really enjoyed everything so far, and my fears about it maybe being too hard in single player if the coop were anything to go by were completely unfounded as I seem to be finding it quite a bit easier. Sounds like the Havana mission might change that however - I'd better get a real challenge or I'm gonna be disappointed Mazy

Tried to get a couple of rounds of Fragile Alliance in this evening too, but it kept giving me shit about connection problems and booting me back to the main menu I'll give that another shot tomorrow I guess - looking forward to some backstabbing action!

Not yet, but I'm considering it. First PSP game I've considered buying in ages actually, aside from FF:Tactics which I just bought coz it was cheap. I never use the thing, but I'm quite tempted to for a Silent Hill fix. Plus I'm going on holiday in January, so I'll definately find some time for the thing when sitting around in airports or buses

I enjoyed both the Tomb Raider movies more than I expected to actually - I hadn't seen them so bought the DVD double pack in a sale, and surprisingly I don't regret it. Then again it was barely over £5 They're not great movies, but they're fairly fun and entertaining.

Played it with a mate last night and we had a great time with it. We were going out so only planned on having a wee go, but we ended up getting to a fair bit through the Pagoda mission and not leaving for the pub until 10:30 I'm looking forward to starting again in single player, although I'm a little worried about the difficulty as we played on the hardest (a least initially unlocked) mode and found a few spots to be hugely challenging. Single player might prove a tad frustrating if the enemy numbers or whatever aren't scaled down a little.

From my experience so far I'd say its a 7/8 out of 10, but you seem to be most proud of the multiplayer which I've not even checked out yet so maybe that'll knock my estimate up a notch.

My copy arrived in the post this morning, but I haven't given it a shot yet. Trying to get Assassin's Creed polished off first, and I'm taking my time doing that it would seem Looking forward to seeing K&L though, despite the mixed reviews. My flatmate was just about drooling when he saw it had arrived, but he wasn't gonna get to displace me from my Assassin's Creed session this evening

Last lanparty I went to we had a lot of fun with Flatout 2, Medieval 2, Soldat (crazy mix of worms and counter-strike - also free!), and Battlefield 2.

Yeah, I REALLY can't see you being able to pitch a game idea to a company in that way. Like Thrik, I've never really heard of anybody getting hired straight into game design - not in the sort of senior position that you're suggesting anyway. You can definately get into the industry without, as you say, a more tangible skill however. You'll definately want to learn to do some scripting though, as that is typically the entry point for game design.

I'm kinda putting this off until I've got more time on my hands - Assassin's Creed, K&L and Mass Effect are first up. I'm far from being a big Mario/Nintendo fan, but I did enjoy Mario 64 back in the day, so here's hoping I'm not gonna be disappointed.

At least a 4/5 for me. I can see what you mean about the repetition - seems to be the most common complaint about the game - but the sense of awe at the environment and fludity of movement completely makes up for that for me. It could be better, but I guess I'm the sorta player who doesn't mind spending hours just running around looking for hidden flags The first time you come across that view of Damascus, and the realisation kicks in that you aren't gonna have another loading screen before you're running around on all those hundreds of rooftops you can see over the city walls? There's really not many games that can give you that sense of OMFG.

Don’t ask about my motherboard and what my favourite game is. I don’t know the answers to these questions!

Haha, so true! I was at work at the time so couldn't check with ease, but I knew I'd remember which one I had if I saw a list. Ended up looking through the bloody Asus website until I saw the one I recognised. I really don't think it matters what motherboard a person is using - asking the core computer specs might be relevant but I wouldn't require that degree of detail.

    you are joking?!

how the _fuck_ did they let that slip?!

that is a serious blow; doubt I'll buy it now

No joke, sadly I read something about it a while back, they said it was a technical issue because the world was so full of NPCs or something that they couldn't realistically network but needed to for the gameplay to work. I've read a few reviews and they all state the lack of online coop as one of the negatives, so it doesn't seem like they got around the issue.

Its a real shame K&L doesn't have online coop Not a deal breaker by any means for me as I'm more likely to play with my flatmates than anyone, but it seems like such a glaring omission in a modern coop game.

I'm really looking forward to it, its one of my top 3 most wanted games at the moment alongside Mass Effect and Kane and Lynch. Sadly I'm not sure I can afford to get all 3 this month, so I think one of them's gonna get shunted into December. I don't think this will be the one that does, however!

I really enjoyed the trailer, but then I've loved all the trailers for this game so far so thats no real surprise.

voted ps3 and wii, dont have a ps3 but am getting one once i get paid. the announcement of god of war 3 and skate really forced me to do this

Don't know how big a problem it is, but Eurogamer today did another 360vsPS3 article and it talks about problems in the PS3 version of skate. Hadn't heard of them before, but then I hadn't read anything about the PS3 version of skate before.

Because you love games, each has exclusives that you want to play, and you can afford it? It really isn't that complicated.

360 and mostly unplayed Wii. Poor little thing doesn't even get used at social gatherings anymore. Like Mazy says though, with SMG (not to mention new Mario Kart, Smash Bros, RE:UC etc...), I'm hoping it justifies its purchase soon.

  • What old games are you playing?

I very occasionally go back to play some classics. Typically it's just PS1 games like the Final Fantasy's, Vagrant Story, Front Mission 3, Parasite Eve 2, Resident Evil's, Tomb Raider's, Micro Machines V3, Bishi Bashi Special, etc... Other than that I suppose I play some old school games when they hit XBLA - Smash TV, Doom etc...
