Batmans parents were killed by a small timer known as Joe Chill, but various assumptions has been made to the direction of Napier, and Denton. If you want to see mindless action but solid coolness of Christian Bale, watch a piece named Equlibrium. Solid awesomness, none of the bullshit.

Faith in something more powerful than man gives hope and structure to a variety of circumstances, which is why people created religions in the first place.
Truer words were never spoken caped crusader. Man doesn't want to take responsibility on things he does not completely understand, like microwave oven, if the fucker killed my cat, how the hell was I supposed to know it'd do that? The problem would be BALLS, and the lack of them.
Quote from Pericolos0why are we still discussing?can we all agree that god has no place in science as long as no evidence points to it but that god still is a possibility and that religion is a personal thing and should not interfere with state
We discuss this, for the sake of discussing it, just to show off our intellectual prowess, just like why does people drive very fast cars and lift heavy weights, you can drop the wheights just like that and walk away, but you still would turn to take a look at our faces if we would be mocking you. The pride won't let you keep your mouth shut, on the matter. Or can it? Proof me wrong.

science considers nothing as truth. We can never be 100% certain of anything
Yes but when presented with sufficient amount of scientific proof, that something is considered as a fact, the closest thing of absolute truth humankind has, just like with other man made things, like justice for example, there are not always abolute proofs but when sufficient amount of proofs is presented, a certain group of people consider it as truth, and that is all even science has to do.

I calls 'em like I see 'em. You got us started on all this God=scienceLOL shit anyhow, so don't even try to bail now. God filling the gaps is bullshit. Pure and simple. "Creationism," "intelligent design (see: Creationism)" and other such false tripe have no place in a science classroom because...they're not science.
But I want to say only one thing, science nor god are both all powerful, god might be actually some alien being who has done great things, or he could be some 'divine' thing that actually created intelligent life on earth. But science is just as fucked up, they consider truth as something that occurs 90% of the time, like example, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, now many times that may be true, but there are alot of places that doesn't occur. But that is just hypothesis bullshit, which is as vague as existense of god.

Now present me a gamer who doesn't fall in love with that in an instant! My GOD! That is just too cool for any amount of money, but I'd still play a pile of it just to get one.
My @-penis has never needed upgrade so badly!

Let's do a rally mod for it, like half-life rally and quake rally.

So, RD, if I say there is a god called Mundaamuno - a frog headed moose - that just spoke in my dreams and said HE is the creator of everything, this could be the truth because there is no proof against it? That is a stupid claim.
But unfortunately 90% of religions are just like that, some dude claims he saw a spirit or something and since at hand there were no proof against him, to that person the spirit must exists.
That is why religions are matter of belief and not matter of facts, that is what separatest science and religion from each other. Religion loses it's meaning when it is dressed in facts, just like science loses it's meaning if it is dressed in beliefs, so that is why there will never ever be proof of god and never will be the proof of that god created science since science stops being scientific if god comes to us and tells "I created science to fool you guys and test ye faith".
This is an age old debate we are having here, and since then the score is something like 0-0 religion against science.

Do you even read posts before you reply to them? No, God is not in science. God and dieties like him were used to define the world around people who did not really understand that world. Nowadays you're watching the desperate clingings of a slowly dying view of the world.
If you analyze my answer, it was more of a metaphoric answer than a truth written in stone, there are alot of scientists who believe in god, since even tho they do not prove his existense nor do they deny it, it gives them comfort when something goes wrong, like a death of a relative, are you actually a complete moron or do you think that god is just simple pile of atoms that we somaday might proof that he exists or doesn't.
Religion is much more than science, even I know that and I'm against most religions, there are people who are smart enough to know that god and jesus (or his connections to something divine, I'm not going to debate if he did or did not exist) are bunch of crap, but when their relative dies they want to have comfort and they go to funerals that are usually held in churches so that they may feel that their soul or what ever is in better place and they want to pray, not because they believe in god or anything, but just because they want some ease to pain.
I have lost 3 relatives in past year, one of them was my mother, and believe me when I say, even if I feel repulsive when I think about every think man does in the shroud of religion if feels so fucking good to think that she is now in a better place where there is no sorrow or pain. So that is the core of what I just answered to you, so take out a pair of brains and think about something before you answer.
Quote from The PostmanYou can certainly choose it. It's not like it's friggin' genetic.
Yes, you can choose is like your choose to go out or not to, but when basically everything you know is based on the same beliefs, you have a habit of clinging to formulas, like christmas and easter, they are part of the culture, sure you can go and be something completely different but the culture that has been molded by the major religion is still there, I still take the free day off from work when it's easter, and I still celebrate with my family when it is christmas, not necessarily celebrating them as religious holidays, but because I have done so for all my life.
So you see, you can choose your religion, you can be anything you want, but you still are what your roots are (I know you are moronic enough to twist this to something like "you can choose not to be something you were blah blah" so don't even go there, I know that), something many of us learned from Muhammad Ali aka. Cassius Clay.

See, now that is a thing I'm not really that sure, I have played NS for several years, in several clans, and I can't actually put my mind on a map that has extensive amounts of crates and that they would alter the gameplay in to a way or another, we have had clan matches almost every map ever built on NS and I have never tought that someone had an upperhand because of crates or any other map element.
Don't get me wrong, there are alot of crates and barrels and such in the maps, but they are not "unnaturally" in anyplace like in the middle of nowhere without apparent reason (like they are in CS, where they are used purely to alter the map layout), and aliens can walk on walls, fly and blink so crates don't create obstacles like they do in CS.
Think about the poor little skulks. Some crates are positioned to conceal a skulk so that a marine will pass by the crate, unaware of the skulk hiding behind it, and then the marine gets bit. Same can almost be applied to marines. In faceoff, the upper doorway to the alien hive, if I have no marines to go into the hive with me and I don't have high level, theres a crate right next to the doorway that I hide behind for cover. If that crate wasn't there, I could have been skulk food more often, resulting in different game results.
Also in ns_lost, there's a hallway that marines almost always used to relocate to, near alpha hive, there used to be a res node next to this hallway. In the end of this hallway are a few crates. Some comms drop specific structures cornered between the wall and the crate so the structure has less surface visible for skulks to bite.
As for "for no apparent reason", many crates in ns maps seem to just be there, rarely do these maps show signs of a crane to lift the crates (SOME do, but rarely) or conveyor belts. And the doorways are too small to indicate any heavy machinery (ie forklift of the future) to move the crates. Hell, you can have a room with only 2 tiny doorways, and the crate inside is way bigger than the doorways.
Was not even going to answer this but what the hell. Yeah sometimes some crates can get some marines killed, or aliens, but there are many forms of gameplay elements to counter them, motion detector, cloak, jetpack, grenades, heavy armor, in opposite to CS which actually has as much gameplay elements as Wolfenstein 3d. Still while crates may create an upperhand in one skulk vs. marine match up, the outcome is never on the favor of the one holding the crate card, a good rine can make swiss cheese out of that skulkey even if he is "concealed" by that evil crate, I usually go giving freebies to the usual camping spots, and when a fade comes around, there is very slight change that the crate will hold your life, believe me. And when introduced the slight nuances of gameplay in NS like welding doors shut and stationary turrets, commanders, again, the crates are your least problem, since a good commander can really siglehandedly turn the tide (assuming that other marines are not 8 year olds), there is no dice for the crates to do that. So gameplay vise crates and barrels are just really some decoration, as opposite to CS where crates conceal you when you place a bomb or give you a great camping spot.
But obviously this is a matter of taste, since you feel that crates can make or break your NS gameplay. But I give you this, now that I tought about it, there are crates in the middle of a tunnel in few CO maps, so some of them are put there just for the novelty of it. I just never tought about it since I have never said "fuck that skulk bit me because he had that crate advantage, since if he didn't I'd whoop his ass".

Good science doesn't involve "God" filling the gaps.
But then again, can good science afford to exclude god? From what I hear, he has quite a fanbase.
Quote from The PostmanOh that is such incredible bullshit I don't even know where to begin.
Begin from the view of a young boy born and grown in a conservative country and culture that forcefeeds you things as truths till you are 16 years old. That is where I always start.

I beg to differ, I never ever eat breakfast, I only drink coffee in the morning, the reason being that my apetite is zero in the morning and I just can't stuff anything in my mouth that is not liquid and coffee.
Though sometimes I eat some vitamin tabs in the morning to keep my body in balance, especially when I'm training.

Meh, a lot of ns maps have crates*, just hardly as much as most cs maps.*Gameplay altering, too.

I didn't mean that CS is a bad example of overusing crates, I meant that CS is a bad example of the lack of innovation from mappers side, that is why I gave you the NS example. Besides I don't think that crates give TAHT much of an impact to gameplay, without them, I could still run, gun and have fun, I would just use the walls as cover, the crates are nothing but extensions of the walls, they could have been skinned as Gandalf for all I care, and we'd be camping behind Gandalfs right about now.

There are a LOT of scientists that don't believe in science then.
Actually there is a very valid argument behind what RD said there, I know this might sound ridiculous, but god just might not be what we think he is. If you take the good old Star Trek for example, in many occasions there is god presented, but in a form of evolved being, higher intellect and physical form, this suggest that these so called all powerful beings are infact gods, when we define human capabilities and compare ours to those of these supposed gods, anything that is more powerful than us is a god, or higher being, it does not neccessary need to be divine, what is divine to us, is undivine or nefarious to others. Completely outruling the existence of god is to outrule the existence of science, in a way, not meaning that if you are a holyroller you are an science extremist. But the views of people in different cultures and religions are so different that to someone that what is god is to another just a enlightened person, or just a normal person, he at the same time exists and doesn't.

CS, where most mappers can't think outside the box (pun intended) and can only provide crates for cover.
In my opinion, that's gameplay related (being your source of cover) opposed to if it the boxes were to the side on shelves and had no use other than decoration.
But CS is a bad example, let's take NS maps instead, very little crates and barrels, maybe few to cover the ventilation shaft for aliens to sneak in and so on, but even if they provide cover, their impact on the gameplay itself is very minimal, it's not like you can't use walls for cover.

Let me point you a different view, you all look your relationship with religion through christianity and it's many forms (I believe there are some other religions here too), but as a person who has had the time for no apparent reason to study religions not defined religions by the way we define them, e.g. Buddhism (Zen buddhism to be precise), Taoism, Confucianism all big philosophies in Japan, they are not religions in the way christianity is, they serve the people, not the religion.
You may be confused why I said that they serve the people, well example, usually in Japan people study different religions, not neccessary settling for one thing, but drawing strenght from all of them, sometimes Japanese stufy Confucianism when young, then Taoism when matured and Zen Buddhism when they are old, this kind of religion hopping is frowned here in western society, besides our religions are the absolute truth to those who believe in them, but in most asian countries, they are teachings, they use them to find answers, not to tell them answers.
So, how we see the universe is rather different from them, due to the religions and cultural differences, we don't know how all began, we try sciences to explain it, and when it fails, we go to the shortest possible route i.e. "god created it", when you ask someone who studies Zen Buddhism his answer might be "does it really matter? it is here for a purpose, just like we all are" and so on, while this Buddshists answer didn't give us absolutely anything, you have to understand that neither did the "god created everything" mumbo jumbo, the difference between these two are, the christian way is absolute, there is no room left for being wrong, but Buddhists realize the fact that at somepoint people have knowedge so vast that we can answer questions like that.
So, that is why I do not believe in any religion but have decided to remain philosophical human being, looking for answers, not giving them.
