because of a sexually explicit video hidden inside the software.

And here I was thinking that it was just a in-game cutscene

If they are going to badmouth something, atleast they could use proper terms for things like this, to avoid misleading people to false presumptions. Like UE pointed, the quote clearly implies that there is some sort of Ron Jeremy clip there.

Oh great, so now Microsoft owns the word Windows and Rockstar Games owns the word Rockstar?

I'll trademark, register and copyright the letter E, the single most used letter in english language, so you won't be typing anything commercial anytime soon!

For that price, I would expect blowjobs, pancakes and a steady 200 fps in any game.

Well how about steady 78fps on Chronicles of Riddick: escape from the butchers bay 1600x1200 everything at max and then some.

OR UHQ at Doom3 with steady 80fps and around 60fps on Battlefield 2 (tho you have to drop some dynamic shadows and light, or else it plays like doom3 on a 8-bit nintendo). And I think bit over 100fps on HL2 with everything through the roof.

But I'll have to call to my retailer and ask them about that bj and pancakes

A great quote from IMDB Trivia section of Doom (2005) "Certain characters in the movie, such as Dr. Carmack and the Dr. Willits are named for members of id Software (John Carmack and Tim Willits, respectively), developers of the series of games the movie is loosely based on."

Yes, movie loosely based on, just like Stalker the movie is loosely based on "Roadside Picknick".

I think that anyone who has followed the Halo development has not been able to not hear from Marathon. My first contact to it came around 95' or so when Bungie released the Marathon 2 for Mac and me and my friend played for ages and ages. Just had to try the first one aswell, I'm not sure if it is the time or if they really were that great games, but definedly better than Doom series.

Hilary Clinton's involvement is nothing more that solidifying her right-leaning base for the 2008 elections. Mark my words, when and if she is running for the Presidency, she can and will use this situation to attract right wing voters.

It almost sounds a joke, a woman president for USA, what next? A black president? Nah I don't believe that a conservative country like the states are going to elect a woman president anytime soon.

But then again, we elected a woman president, but that was because she was only one capable of more than just drooling like the tools she was running against.

Looks cool and all, but PSP is good for me to poop on tbh.

Tho it's all about the games, so if PSP gathers some other cool games, maybe it's status will raise in my eyes, but atm it has nothing on GBA.

And I think PSP could run HL1 with lowered texture quality since there has been some talk about the power:memory ratio, the hardware has enough kick to it to run cool games but the joker who designed the hardware didn't notice that, the kind of graphics the hardware is able to run, needs alot of memory

What I have heard about the movie, it's again one of those "loosely based on.." movies, interview with one of IDs designers he said that even tho the setting has changed to something different, the outcome (groin gripping action I presume) and monsters are still from Doom3.

But just like Resident Evil movies, I just loved it even tho the similarities were vague at best, but I take a good movie with storyline altered to work better for a movie, than a movie that is made straight out of the game and sucks ass. I mean, movies like SinCity that follow the resource material step by step and still manage to be the best frikkin movie ever, happens only once in a lifetime.

So you'll be looking one happy camper who is definedly going to see this movie asap.

    :edit:

Hey hang on a minute, why did that one guy find a rat during the trailer? I mean, who brought the rats to Mars?

Rats are usually used in laboratory environment to test different bilogical agents, and as that base was a biological R&D, I think it is pretty obvious.

And the fact that it looked like a white (albino) rat it is just a dead giveaway.

reread what I said.basically, they're saying that the game is unsuit for today's youth

youth refers to the ages before you reach maturity.

    the game is rated mature

therefor, the youth was not intended to play the game, but rather the mature (17+) persons.

    Oh Misunderstood the message.

The problem here is the same as with the Spongebob = Gay thread, it is widely considered that games are for kids, even though the major demographic is around 20-35 year olds, so when a game sells around 2million copies they think that 2million children has got their hands on a violent shooter, when in the reality it is closer to few hundred thousand (or even less) of the buyers are children and majority are the main demoraphic.

    on that last link

    Youth.

    A definition of youth:

the time of life between childhood and maturity

So pre-mature age. AND THE GAME WAS RATED MATURE.

    enough said.

Pre-mature and Mature are still two different things, even if both of them contain the word Mature. Youth is widely used for everything teen and under.

I've got pretty high hopes for Vista, it seems like it's going to a more OS X-ish direction with all that fancy new desktop stuff.IE7 might actually be an usable browser, there's the new Monad shell and the new filesystem is coming sometime too.

OSX-ish in bling, nowhere near OSX-ish in power, the truth is that Apple computers are not that powerfull, but the OSX can harness the power of the computer and it doesn't waste anything, plus the perfect memorycontrol Windows machines are lacking.

IE7 might be good, but as long as it doesn't support standards nor has tabbed browsing, it is just a prettier version of IE4, just like all IE versions since.

I have heard alot of good things about Monad, and I'm waiting it to be something really good, Chris Sells seems pretty excited about it.

All this means to me is the minimum specs will be raised for no real reason, again! And I will have more shit to tweak and disable before I can get my computer cozy.I can't be the only one that doesnt want flashy animations and transparencys.

You are absolutely right there, windows is heavy as hell as it is, and now they are going to toss in some more. But there is the upside that MS is going to include some fancy effects to Vista, but they are going to be rendered by the GPU thus it should be logically some load off from CPU.

So I guess we have to just wait and see, but the bottom line is that, there is still going to be alot of tweaking and adjusting to do.

But hot coffee, sims 2 blur and many others are unlocked by hacks or mods, so I'd put them in to the same caregory as nudeskins. If a game has a nude skin and you can just unlock the skin by some sort of in-game thing, then they are "evil".

They should have sticked to version numbers in the first place.Keep it simple, stupid.

Yeah but Windows 95 marked the beginning of a new era, so naming it Windows 4 or 3.12 would have been bad marketting. But I agree with you that version numbers make it way easier to keep track of the OS and maybe even see the bits of truth behind everything, like if Windows 95 would have been 4, would 98 have been like 4.10 or 5.

Besides, there is no chronological order in these names anymore, people might get confused that did Windows name#1 become before Windows name#2 or the other way around.

I kinda hate these names that are words (or retarded acronyms of them like XP), why can't they use the numerical naming sheme? It doesn't have to be the year neccesary, but Windows 06 would be good enought to me.

Besides the ME and XP are so bad names for operating system, it makes them sound cheap.
