  • U.S. ends search for Iraqi weapons of mass destruction

No I mean like. ok.Iraqi civilians were there before U.S. The terrorist dont want them to leave, just the U.S. I just don't see the point in terrorizing the people of Iraq when you'd think they'd target Americans. I don't know was just somthing I was pondering this.

Yeah, I know what you are meaning, and it just confuses me too, why attack other muslims to get to the US/Nato troops. But what I think it means, is basically, they are creating civil unrest to make it harder for US/Nato troops to seize and control an area, like how'd you control total anarchy? AND the another idiotic brainchild of some not so intelligent terrorist warmonger, thinks that all civilians living in IRAQ are "supporting" the invaders because they let them control the country and are not starting a rebellion, and actually submitting to the "rigged" election of the invading force. Or so certain Aljazeera news network can inform us, and frankly, Aljazeera has been the only thing anywhere near the truth during this whole time, which is kinda sad.

Well the whole "War on Terror" started with 9/11 (For Bush anyway.) sort of.Again I cant really say for I dont watch enough CNN or FOX.

What 9/11 basically did, was it made the whole "War on Terror" a way for Bush to lauch for political rockstardom, and made a small CIA mission in to a global scale public circus. We should not forget that this whole "War on Terror" has been going for well over 20 years, and it was ran by CIA officials and it has had several campaigns through the globe during it's time.

I heard a little rumor that if we break world in to regions, North America is actually using more money to R&D but produces the least practical uses. Now I'm not so sure about this and I tried going through all the statistics sites and R&D council sites to get proof about this, but it seems to be near impossible to gather any data whatsoever.

But the rumor goes about like this, since major funding to R&D in North America and Europe comes from public sources and goes in to public foundations like Nasa and such, I'm pretty confident that this might be true. As opposite, Japan being the major player in R&D with most practical uses put to mass production and in to the market.

Now, I think there is truth behind this since Japan HAS done alot of technological advancement during past 40 years or so, and in Japan most of the R&D is done by major companies, like Honda for example that is reseaching robotics. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that if corporations put millions of dollars to R&D they are bound to make some profit out of it.

But it is actually pretty interesting when you think about it. So if anyone has any source with some tasty numbers or any other data, please post here. And if anyone has anything on their mind about the subject, you are welcome to contribute.

(I know the forum is for political discussion, but I didn't think this kind of post would be good for General, since there is some politics involved here.)

I'm a huge fan myself, own all the HoMM (excluding the first) games and their expansions, and it just blows my mind to think how genius Ubi has been hiring the two developers that are "experts" in their respective areas, thinking about Nival which has done RTS and RPG type games and especially their knowledge from Silent Storm (I absolutely love this) games. And Arkane Studio that has knowledge of first-person dungeon crawls.

Ubi has announced that yet another game based on the Might & Magic franchise is on the makes.

Ubisoft acquired M&M franchise in 2003 when 3DO filed bankruptcy. Ubi has already announced the first M&M game earlier this year which is based on the Heroes of Might & Magic series, it is on the works at Russian developer Nival Interactive of the Silent Storm fame.

The new game Ubi announced is sequel to the more traditional M&M rpg series, and it is developed by Arkane studios which also made Arx Fatalis, the new game is using the Source engine and is sheduled for release around Q3 2006.

The new game will bear the name "Dark Messiah of Might & Magic."

  • Expansion packs?

I actually think that expansions are great when the game itself is really story driven like Warcraft 3, it's like a sequel to a awesome movie or next issue of some comic novel, that is why most people here list HL expansions, HL was one of the greatest story driven games ever.

But expansions like the Quake 3: Team Arena expansion sucked ass.

But then again, there are games like Carmageddon what Mazle said that are just so great that even without massive story you are just happy with some amount of new content. Oh man, I better install Carmageddon right now.

quoted for truth. how come nobody else has said this.

Nah, I don't think so, Valve fucked HL2 up when compared to HL1. So devs don't always hit the gold, it's around 50% of skill and 50% of luck.

    What the hell?

I used to live in a place called 'Herukka' (dorry don't know what it is called in english, but it is a berry) and we planted some bushes along the road to celebrate the name of our "area", and many more followed. So I don't really see the point in fining the guy for something he did for love of the name of his living place.

Sure it is bit weird to have a gigantic sesame street big bird on your chimney, but oh the humanity, the harm it causes, almost like nothing at all. Losers.

Regardless of what you might think personally, Rockstar's PR strategies buys them more word of mouth than even EA could ever afford to buy via advertisements.Makes good business sense...

I agree, it has been very long since some movie or game has stirred media this much. But I'm just afraid that the conservative politicians are shooting them down and Rockstar is feeding the belt.

Again, another game Rockstar is making has stirred up controversy. Are they just testing their luck or what is this all about?

I'm really getting tired of this and Rockstar is actually making the situation worse with their shenanigans, their factory of controversial games are going to get violent games banned all around the globe and what the hell are we going to play then?

Ok, let's see, she is violating the freedom of speech, tampering with the economy by suggesting of banning a whole medium, being a major pain in the ass, and still not dead but still fugly. I think that covers it, she is satan, and insane cunt and definedly winning the next election for precidency since HE is not a woman anymore with that kind of balls.

    :edit:

Duh, a fake well who would have tought about that

But what I said about Mr. Hillary "satan" Clinton is still valid argument.

Not to scare you off, but you have a lot of work ahead of you. Learning to create content for modern games is a very daunting task. Don't be put off though, keep at it.

It is. Thinking back to the days of Quake1 and 2, the models I made back then, they were like a 5sided cylinder with some boxes sticking out of it and it was a rifle. Now you have to put up very high polygon models for normal maps (altho I'm trying to avoid them when ever I can), and complex lowpoly "cages" with high quality textures. AND you have to think about how it will be animated and physics and all that shit. It's insane amount of work compared to the good old days.

I'm interested in this kind of opportunities.

Ubi Montreal is obviously in montreal, and you are looking for applicants from all over the world. So what about all the paperwork and appartments and that? And are you hiring for each project or is it going to be fulltime?

I'm just interested since I have never even tried to apply for job overseas, only tried to get a job from local developers or from somewhere near (sweden for example).
