Look, I don't have a beef with d3, infact I haven't had a beef with anyone for a long time, I was a vegetarist for so long.

But just sometimes he posts things, that makes me want to have a thread rating system on the board. And I admit, the vase and the phone were funny (you'd have to be pretty old and miserable not to find them funny), but I still think this thread should be more on the EOT side than in the mapcore discussion

well the graphics are so good i have an erection, but im not a big midieval fan.

Railguns and lasers are Sir Lancelots weapon of choice.

It's not that medieval, more like post-apocalyptic or something, nice mix of hitech and magic&mayhem.

Like Mojo said, multiplayer is bit like battlezone or something, there are two sides the humies and the beasts, you kill opponents to get money, and money to upgrade your class or get completely new class (bettar), or you can use your ass for something good and be a commander and pimp the base.

There are alot of different weapons ranging from bows and arrows to railgun like toys and explosions *woohaa*, and there is pretty good melee engine, kinda like the old jedi knight or something.

There are some siege weapons too, like catapults and ballistas.

You have to gather some resources, you can do it yourself or let the commander to order some peons to do it for you, anywho, you have to protect your peons, and you can also help them build the structures. There are one trillion things to do in the game and this is why it is the most innovative multiplayer game I have ever played.

Great fun! Fun! Say it with me! F-U-C.. I mean FUN!

Hmh.. they took the starsystem down? Oh.. didn't notice since I haven't had any use for the site since I have seen all the VTMs from the UT2k4 dvd, but the Buzz VTMs are easily the best source for all UE stuff you ever want to know, I learned some scripting from them.

Yeah, it is odd how people seem to think that Savage is like 5+ years old or something, it's like two years around now.

And another that kills the buzz, is that these fragfucks don't play anything that isn't CS or doesn't have anything to do with Half Life or Instagib, FACE IT GUYS THOSE GAMES SUCK ASS!

But anyways, seems that not many here have heard of the game, nor are excited about it, I just hope that people will try it atleast.

That would be nice. It just seems that Gnomon is first and foremost highend film/TV stuff, and then perhaps a distant second - games.

That is true, but as our luck is changing, making games these days is resembling more and more like making movies. So the gap is narrowing

And Gnomon released a set for game modelling, and some fine Zbrush videos and ofcourse the texture videos that are good for everyone from games to movies.

Yeah all the videos there are provided by 3d Buzz. And yup, you can get them from the 3D Buzz site but the starsystem is an ass.

I'm just waiting for Gnomon to release something similar.

I have briefly been in a mod team making some models to be used in Unreal, but I know jack shit about the Unreal Edit

Well, I had just the same problem with my old Raddy 9800 SE, everything GPU intense locked up my comp. The lockup does not damage your system permanently, but the heat problem might reduce the lifespan of your Raddy.

I worked around this problem by installing memory heatsinks and opening my case sidepanel and put a big fan blowing air to the card, yes it was pretty noisy But when I'm playing a game, I wear headphones so that is not a problem.

Yes the problem is obviously heat, but I'm pretty sure that it some manufacturing problem, since it is extremely rare. But memory shouldn't heat up that much anyway, and you'd get artifacts and not a lock up with memory overheating, my guess is that core heat was the culprit here, maybe the manufacturer changed the thermal paste or the heatsink is bit off from the core, there are alot of possibilities. so your options are to get a new HSF for your card, or put a big ass fan next to your comp, blowing cool air to the card.

Awesome, awesome, awesome game, savage, lots of funny multiplayer moments and actually great balance to the game, with nice innovative gameplay and truely different 'classes'.

And the only thing I wanted, was to have a sequel to the game, and it looks AWESOME!

I haven't really looked in to the machine, I'm not that interested and even if I were, I'm sure I wouldn't buy it, there is way too much spending going on with games atm, and when Xenon launches there will be even more.

But it's current set of games are pretty interesting compared to my DS, but I'm a fan of multiplayer and DS seems to be the top dog when the Nintendo network launches. Can't imagine what PSP game would possibly beat Metroid, and Metroid on a deathmatch over internet.

Kinda Off-Topic, but I recently saw this BBC documentary about Vikings, and appareantly the word viking means pirate

Well the word "viking" is used often loosely, it usually means scandinavian (norse) people of the viking age, the histroy of the word has not been yet unraveled since there are alot of sources it could have come from. Some jackass english novelists use it to describe what many these days would use for pirates, but out of the rare occasions, the two things are completely different words.

Sorry, I was in a mod team making a viking mod for Warcraft 3 so I had to learn these things

But anywho. I'll be checking PV&K2 out.

People are discovering new things eevery day. FOrinstance edge looping fo better animation. I never new that. Its sweet and I'd definatley go through what it takes to implement it cause its worth it in every aspect.

Yeah, edge loop is pretty sweet, seen some Steven Stahlbergs models with that.

    Quote from von*ferret

I read in some awesome magazine though that was refering tobump mapping. Geometry should not be sacrificed for bump mapping. When something calls for geometry, model it. Dont' rely on bump maps to do the work for you. Same goes for normal mapping as far as I'm concerned. If something is worth modeling, than fucking model it!!!! However keep in mind the strengths (along with weaknesses) of normal mapping causeit can help you define the sillaughette (worst speling ever) of a model so it doesn't have so many polygonal edges. U3 models look sweeeeet with lighting, but silaugoute the model and suddenly its charm is not swag.

I agree, form defining aspects of the model should always be modelled and not left for some materials like bumps and normals, but polygons should be used to smoothen the form, angular parts in any normal mapped model will jump out too well. Model has always been like a canvas for painter, for the texture artist, mainly it's purpose to me is to make the texture (and what ever you add to it) look good, and not the other way around, you do the model to compliment the texture and not make the texture work around the models small details. But ofcourse, not all see things like I do, and I appreciate it, that is actually the way I like it, the situation where we all can learn from others experience and not have to try everything out ourselfs.

I have to be honest and say I didn't read the previous posts, so excuse any redundancy.I am excited for project offsett. I want to get that out first. However I am more warry of a couple of things. 1.) it is a built by a couple of people. So that means who KNOWS how long it'll take to get running.

2.) There is no mention to computer specs, just what the engine is capable of achieving. So 5 years down the line the average person can possibly use it. Example kinda is halflife 1. It was never meant to achieve things that some mods pushed for it to do. It was CAPABLE of doing them, but...god damn rants. hold on.. right hlaflife1. Made with possibilities but it was finaly released knowing that it shit I cna't think.

3.) these are ingame demo's of the engine. They're touched up with some program (premiere?). These are product demo reals. Just like developers hiring applicacee's (word?). People make their demo look nice to hide their faults. Just cause it looks shiny doesn't mean it wont break. My friend got lured into a closet with a shiny object to make out with some guy, she's not the brightests, knor do I have any diea waht that has to dow tih anything.

    Drunk very much?

I think model making HAS changed when normal mapping came, no more polygonal surcafe detail, the models are almost completely smooth now, unless there is like extruding elements in the normal map, but even then there is way less definition to the model.

Like I said, there is more importance put in to the functionality of the model than how the model itself looks without normal map and texture, modellers are now spending more time tweaking their model to get the normal map on it's surface to look as good as possible, and ofcourse they can spend few more polygond on the joints to make the animation smoother.

But like I said, that is just my opinion, and my point of view to all this.

I agree with kleiney, three man team, with only one man developing the engine, which means that the engine itself is a one man job, or the two artists do some heavy duty coding too.

And this could be just a rendering engine, not a whole game engine like UE3 is, I'm not a programmer, so I don't know how easy it is to do a rendering engine, but that stuff is absolutely impressive.

Just have to add, these guys have been making Savage, one of the best games I have ever played, it was totally awesome.
