They made Anarchy Online and the longest journey.

Yes, and I'm still waiting to see the good game, mind you.

I think there might be a touch screen on the revolution controller too, or I sure hope so, it's the best FPS controller since mouse and keyboard combo.

But there is no telling what it might be since they are japanese, they can come up with anything, some weird crazy shit I believe. It could be bukkake doll or a human thumb!

I'm hoping that Nintendo reveals their dildo or what ever the controller will be, and maybe some sneaky peeks on Super Mario 128 and some other games (SUPER FUCKING SMASHING REVOLUTION BROS.) for your enjoyment.

Why should Nintendo focus on hardware heavy HD gaming? HDTVs are mildly popular in USA and even less so in Japan, tho there are very little applications to use one, but I'm pretty sceptical about their popularity in the future, it could easily take 3-4 years before 1/3 of the televisions in USA and Japan have been changed, push back the release of the HD dvd formats do not help the situation in no way.

And when we look at Europe, where about 1-3% of the televisions are HDTVs and the popularity is not rising in any way, which reflects pretty much the situation in the rest of the world.

I'll see the boom of HDTV sets when the HD dvd movies start to pour on the market with great volumes and stores start to carry them in shelfs, before that, I don't think people are ready to shell up 2000€ for a HDTV they can only take advantage with a gaming console.

Besides, Nintendo has a clear advantage here because they didn't go with the HD crap, they can produce high quality graphics with less computing power, smaller resolution = less computing power wasted, they can make the console cheaper, and it is cheaper to make games for their console AND like the Square Enix guy said about the Xenon, HD video takes up so much space that a normal DVD can't handle long videos, so Nintendo erased that problem too, no HD video so it can easily fit on a DVD.

This is exactly why I hate Apple iPod line, you got a player, AND YOU MAKE ANOTHER ONE JUST LIKE IT!

I have worked for advertising agencies and even I can't figure out how to sell these new iPod anus and GBA yetanotheronebutsmaller.

Even as a person who doesn't own original GBA but I own DS to play those GBA games (can't play older tho) I'm not seeing any good reason to buy one. Maybe I'll buy one and mod it in to a 8-bit nes controller and sell it on ebay for rediculous price.

Would have included Blizzard, but the talent and genius that went into creating Starcraft, Diablo, Warcraft, and WOW has primarily left

What I know of, only the Bliz North designers who developed Diablo games have left, the guys who are responsible for the craft series are verymuch in the house (the original founders), and guys like Chris Metzen who is primarily responsible of the look and feel of the Warcraft universe is intact.

Rockstar Games - Nothing much has to be said really. No idea about whats the enviroment is like at the offices, I'll assume its pretty fun, since the games have nice easter eggs and a casual attitude to them.Gave us the great GTA series, and the even greater (imo) Max Payne series.

can't think of any others :G

So is HAL labs inc == nintendo?

Max Payne 1 & 2 were developed by finnish Remedy Entertainment, it was just published by Rockstar Games.

Nintendo bought Hal Labs. way back when they made Kirby or something, they are responsible of pretty much every Nintendo 1st party game since then.

Dunno really, so many different to choose from.

There has to be some company that you admire, like I said, it doesn't have to be in any particular order, you don't have to choose "the best" just tell which one you like and why, would you like to work for them some day.

I have to add two more developers to my list.

    6. Remedy

Now how doesn't like them or their games, they are a solid game company, with a good few games, they don't rush anything out the door and they have very interesting concepts.

They seem to have very talented people working there and it would be a super place to learn. And I guess that answers my question if I'd like to work there

    7. IO Interactive

Well, I haven't been that big of a fan of Hitman series, it has had it's moments, and it really is very innovative series, but somehow it just didn't strike me like Freedom Fighters did, now there is a game, man, I couldn't stop playing that game, it was totally awesome and had a great story, not to mention the graphics.

And the fact violent crimes have been actually caused mainly by something completely different things.

Like *cough* street gangs and drug cartels *cough*

    [Blocked Image: http://www.drugwarfacts.org/Modifiedmurderchart.gif]

So I think games are the least problem in a country that fights wars all the time and has a massive problem with drugs, alcohol, poverty and unemployment.

So, what are your favourite game developers (studios), you can also give us reasons why that particular developer is so dear to you. They don't need to be in any particular order, there is no need to have exactly five developers, there can be less, there can be more.

    I'll start.

    1. Relic

Relic is the absolutely best developer for me, they have never done a bad game, they always seem to have fresh ideas, and they seem to be most concerned about the fun element in their games. Well, it doesn't hurt that all their games have been RTS games. One day, I hope to work there.

    2. Blizzard

Well, do I really need to explain? As far as gameworlds go, there just isn't a company that does them better than Blizz. I might want to work there, maybe more at their cinematic team than the game team.

    3. Team Ninja

Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox has to be the best game I have played on the box, hands down. And DoA series has no rivals in terms of gameplay and sheer adrenaline (ok well, maybe Soul Calibur games top DoA games, but that is just a maybe). Tho I wouldn't like to work here, Japanese game development cycles are not my piece of bread.

    4. Nintendo (Hal Laboratories)

Nintendo owns almost every game franchise I love to play, there has been few bad ones tho, like all those Kirby puzzle games, I mean wtf is with that, and Mario sport games are just plain wrong. Wouldn't like to work here either, look reason at Team Ninja.

    5. Firaxis

Sid Meier, a god amongst men, Pirates, classic, new Pirates, fucking awesome. Civ? I think I wouldn't be so avid gamer without it, a lifetime spent on it and then some, just have to click away on Civ3 while waiting on Civ4 that looks totally balls on the walls awesome. Totally would work there.

Maybe there is more, but atm, I can't think of anything that pops on top of them.

    Now it's your turn hombre.

Nice post Izuno, fit for a book about politics.

The only thing bad (and this is a big bad) I see with capitalism when compared to socialism (not going to compare capitalism with communism, that compare would be fair if imperialism and communism was compared), capitalism like fascism is created by few, the same pattern can be seen through the political ideologies when moving from leftwing to right.

Everyone benefits from socialism, instead of the very few and select elite that are the ones that benefit from capitalism, there is opression of the poor and middle class, not like in socialism, but usually man is greedy and selfish, so that wrecks the whole idea of socialism, the thing works like a charm in paper, but when you have to actually run a socialistic society it just crumbles.

Capitalism instead works fairly well because it is a straight political conversion of human greed and obsessions, but even it won't last if we take is step higher to Imperialism where majority of people are opressed, not just the unfortunate, power is transferred to very select few of about 1% and the country usually rules over other countries managing "peace" through armed forces just like communists do.

I don't like the whole idea of placing the power to a select few, because it gives the chance of retarded warmongers like Bush to come to power and abuse the hell out of it, in Finland, if our president wanted to attack some other country, we'd give her a gun and say "you are very welcome to try, when you come back, do tell how it went", because that is how actual democracy works.

And that is the way I like things, fair opportunity to everyone to success, education and work/social security for everyone, no one is left behind (this is ofcourse on paper, we DO have hundreds of homeless people too unfortunately).

Tell me Izuno, did you study? How much did it cost? What have had happened if you didn't have money to go to shcool? The uncertainty is what I hate, and capitalistic world is full of it.

I have quite a few friends which have served in Kosovo, and they are only prone to getting horribly drunk.

I have a friend, old photographer, my "photography mentor" if you will, he has been in african warzones where they fight their insane civilwars and tribal warfare. He was a photographer in there for several years just like many other photographers, got shot at, but he didn't get hurt even once (I guess he was very lucky) and sometimes we talk about things that went down there, he said that if someone is not affected by that kind of stuff, they are already mentally unstable or can drown everything very well, but it has got to have some kind of effect, watching people kill eachothers.

More so than violent videogames I'm betting my money that people who join military are much more prone for violent acts. Especially the ones who have served in a warzone or some other catastrophe/disaster area like in Kosovo.

minos is the truth, more so than god

I don't think that necessary those people who are looting, actually realize that what they are doing is wrong, just like when you are downloading a game or a movie from internet, do you get sleepless nights over it? I doubt it, but do you want to get shot because of it? There are some studio excecs really pissed because they lost potential viewers and millions of dollars because of a guy in the theater with a videocamera, and my guess is that they propably want to shoot the guy.

I know stealing is stealing no matter what you think justifies it, but then again, murder is murder, even if your country told you to do so in some foreign war OR if you think you are doing the right thing shooting some looters.

I agree totally with Minos that the country and culture has made people obsessed with material goods, you didn't see this kind of behavior when the freak tsunami destroyed prettymuch everything, sure there were some looters, but either it was not as much reported in news, or it was not nearly as widespread as it is in New Orleans, and believe me, those people are literally poor, not that BS poor "I can't afford two luxyry class cars and a plasma tv" those people are poor like "I don't have ANY money, I can't get even the basic education if I don't collect recyclable plastic about 5kg so I can scrounge few pennies to go to school tomorrow, and then I don't have anything to eat else than carbage."

Every capitalistic imperium through the history has been viewed as the oracle of wealth but only to be eaten from inside by it's own greedy people, countries that actually take care of it's citizens like Canada, or any country in scandinavia or prettymuch every european country don't have this kind of problem. There have been pretty big disasters here too, and we don't have that kind of problem, and why do you think that is?

Dawn of times, man invented fire, fire was good, brought protection and warmth. Then he invented wheel, wheel brought many inventions that are still in heavy use today. But it seems that man never invented catching a thief so instead they decided to kill the people.
