Yeah don't get me wrong it's a great game for a casual public blast fest. But because it's a great casual game it's really hard to play competitively because of many of the game mechanics.
There are many leagues already for clan play but I didn't find it very compelling to play at a competitive level. And clan play is always played with the original weapons, unlocks aren't bothered with as they unbalance the game.

Go for an AMD core, they're cheaper and far better. Also get an Ati card instead of a 280. For motherboards look for an MSI and ram wise I'd recommend kingston, crucial or corsair.

I would never buy another Gigabyte board if my life depended on it. they are SHIT in my experience with them. Granted, there are some people who have gotten lucky and had a good time with them but the ram slots are prone to giving up or never working in the first place as low mentioned, too.

Gigabyte GA-EQ45M-S2 Intel Q45
GAH! Gigabyte is the biggest pile of shit there is. I've had 4 motherboards and they were all useless. The last one decided to have 2 ram slots pack up for no reason other than to inrage me.
Get an MSI K9A2 Platinum Thrik, they're one of the best you can get, it's brilliant.

Thief 1's level design sucked compared to Thief 2's, and wasn't nearly as atmospheric, and Thief 3 has the captain's mansion, Shalebridge Cradle, and being able to wander around and engage in my persona favorite gaming past-time of playing with broken AI to its advantage.
