Finally, its been to long since I could release something new.

    Insurgency mod level,

goal of this map was to make a level where the insurgents were on the offensive side,

have a large open environment with no close fog range and still decent fps in lower systems.

(no download its automaticly downloaded when installing insurgency on steam)

I wanted to do a model based on concept art , I was looking for a player model but could not find any reference images with front and side views but stumbled upon this

stuff from a old canceled mod I was part of and desided to give it a go instead.

Its a dropship that carries modules.

6134 triangles, by far my most complex model so far and my wrist hurts from making it

    Times have changed,

It takes alot of work to make a nice mod.

As the retail market proves, players want fun, good looking games, the original games usually have a hard time selling, the same goes for mods ...

Yeah a 5 man team of high expirienced modders is probebly better then a large team, but you have to know 5 expirienced modders and they must be willing to work on your project.

And that means that you must be expirienced to start with.

As for insurgency mistakes, I think the gameplay/objectives should have had priorty and do much more early testing, instead of when the maps are pretty much done :P

Doesn't matter to me as they are both right winged in european terms (if they both would be european party's they would be on the right side of the spectrum)

But if McCain wins he better stays alive for his whole term because Palin seems pretty uninformed to me :)

I rather saw Hillary sitting on the throne

    Quote from Ginger Lord

I've seen the trailers and some of the reviews but I havnt been a complete nerd and hunted down every last scrap of info. All I see is a zombie co-op game where the zombies can...run!

Edit: Not that I play TF2 much either but due to L4D no more TF2 updates till next year

Its 4vs4 where players can control the 4 survivors and 4 of the 5 special infected (when doing it multiplay)

They think griefers will be happy to play as one of the infected, altough I think a griefer would just join the survivors and shoot his team

  • Piracy is the great equalizer

    • Bluestrike
    • October 5, 2008 at 10:53 PM

    - Piracy is bad.

    - Players won't be able to buy all the games they want unless they or their parents are loaded.

    - Alot of players pass on a legal version that has a tough DRM.

    - Alot of players get a pirated version because its faster to get.

    - Few players crack their legal version so they won't have to play DJ.

    - Some players won't get a legal copy because they think its to expensive for what they get.

    - Who can say he never stole a single thing in his entire life?

    - Stealing is also bad.

I know few people with legal windows versions, yet microsoft is loaded, talk about a overpriced product

Are gamestudio's themselves using completely legal software?

  • Overview problem

    • Bluestrike
    • September 30, 2008 at 9:16 PM

    Is the overview image correct,

Did you use the overview_marker_1024 so you knew what part of the image to take for a 1024*1024 image?

(for that matter were you in the correct resolution when taking the overview image)

Are the coordinates you used the ones last updated in the console before taking the screenshot?

Out of idea's now, but when css was just out the cordinates system was screwed but I managed to tweak&test by hand to get it somewhat accurate if youre up for that job

What also bothers me is that such a pretty game has no screenshot setting in the key config.

Lets see if google knows how I can take some :)

Hmm I asked someone at Valve if games what have install limits in retail have the same limits in the steam version.

    The awnser was:

    Quote

Any game specific details like this will be covered on the games page in our storefront.

I don't see any limitations mentioned on their steam games pages so I guess there aren't any.

How does it work with the retail version, do they have a warning somewhere on the box or manual?

Does the game says anything about the number of activations yo have left or anything?

Wel Steam has its own DRM / is a DRM on its own.

    As for Warhead:

Still think Crytek needs to playtest more,

    Quote

When in the hovercraft its not that clear where you have to go , and I got stuck looking for a exit where you meet the exosuit or whats it called .

Stuck as i got stuck under the exosuit, And stuck because I could not find a exit for my hovercraft, I think youre suposed to leave it behind there but I'm not sure...

Where I can play Valve games at normal difficulty with barely dying I quit warhead 2-3 times already because I kept dying at the same locations.

    Quote

(usually when fighting against the aliens, currently stuck at the location where you have to hold out untill the tunnel extrance is rigged with explosives)

Don't notice much from the performance improvements, game still freezes quite often on my high end system with a low AA setting and the autodetect options.

The grass and trees still sway as if they are on speed or someone increased the time. Makes it look pretty fake where a very slow sway would be more subtile.

This must be me but enemy's are harder to kill then it takes for me to go down, only times a headshot works is when I get close with cammo or wtih the sniper rifle on ordinary soldiers.

As soon as there is somewhat of a distance I get a hard time killing enemy's, even when prone with the strenght mode on.

Another thing that was pretty frustrating are the frozen umbrella's in the hovercraft scene, you can knock a tree down with it, but these umbrella's are indestructible :)

The intro video was nice and shows the players some additional tactics like 'boxing' a verhicle , in the orriginal crysis i found that out after waching the special edition content after finishing the game

I think the intro also shows Psycho with the speed enhancement and then switching to strength for a super jump but I can't seem to do it myself.

Haven't finished it but I think its slighty better as thye original so far, lets see how the game ends and the crysis bossfights were pretty anoying and buggy.

  • Valve to be bought out by... Google?!

    • Bluestrike
    • September 17, 2008 at 8:18 PM

Wel money wise it would be better to sell when youre strong?

Anyway maybe some parthnership in steam but if I owned a company like Valve I doubt I would sell it as a whole.

Ofcourse maybe Valve isn't doing as good as they say?

Anyway lets hope its a wild rumor, it seems to spread pretty fast tough ;)

Just to pick up a very old thing, isn't that rigging hessi?

I called it skinning because a model with multiple textures in Hammer is changed with the skin value

Anyway I integrated my portolio in my website , i hope its better and not worse now

There is also some new stuff.

Still have to fix any spelling error
