yus my first shipped title is out on the shelves.

theres a launch trailer on http://www.enemyterritory.com which some of you might not have seen before.

i left splash a few months ago but by the time i left almost all of the art content was locked already.

well.. i just wanted to check if any of you picked it up yet and what you guys think about it. i played the demo which was a bit buggy on my laptop (read something about radeon mobility issues) but i think this has been fixed in the first patch. definitely loads of improvements since i last played it at work.

gotta give the final thing a proper whirl though.

there were moments in development where i wished we would be using a different and more suitable engine, especially the shadowing (stencil shadows) is a bit weak, even in comparison to an "old" game like bf2. personally i wouldve liked to see a bit more contrast in places (darker interiors, darker shadows) to make things look more juicy but some other devs seemed to prefer the bright and clean pro-gamer look.

i might be launching a portfolio update with some work i did on etqw soon but i better ask for permission first. i'll let you know when its up though.

oh btw.. theres a cool google-maps type site where you can have a look at the megatextures. http://d8d.org/etqwmaps/

i think they turned out great. i hope id is able to really get this "megatextures on everything"-thing working properly. those editor videos of idtech5 looked very promising

anyhow.. please post your opinions here

like grin and warby said.. its nicely modeled but it lacks a proper structure. it has a lot of fancy shaped panels, curves and details but it doesnt seem like they are there for a reason. what i mean is that this is just visually appealing but doesnt make a lot of sense if you know what i mean.

i know its definitely too late to fix this but something for you to keep in mind for your next model. simplifying things often not only helps the quality of the model but also reduces your workload (i.e. why spend time modeling all those little details and funky shapes if they dont improve the final result)

i second skjalg on the rocks. i think the map wouldve benefited of a more stylized approach on those. and the lighting could be more effective and stylized too.

still a decent looking map though not the usual city17 map

Lacks detail and as stated above there is a lack of contrast in both the lighting and textures. As a first beta it looks solid enough though. Are you planing on a release to test the gameplay?

ahaha.. if its a straight copy then theres no need for testing. the original played very very well (..like most of warbys maps)

terminator: i was hoping you would diversify the map visually from the original map. not saying you should choose a different setting but you copied the blockyness (due to the old engine) to source, and it looks a bit cheap, u know.

glad to see one of warbys maps coming to source tho. might give it a go when youre done

i am definitely going to see this but wow, that hitman logo animation in the end is just super crappy.

and i still think that timothy olyphant is NOT the right actor to be 47. he was so lame in die hard 4 and he has the potential to ruin hitman too

but then again.. you never know until you've seen the movie, right?

edit: the hitman symbol in the very end has some severe uv stretching too. o boy

here's a realtime radiosity demo that you can download

actually quite nice but this is still far from being usable in a game environment

    nice project, zap

the style is quite nice. the building could be brighter and a mit more saturated and the track looks a bit out of place with no snowy patches on it.

definitely like where you are going with this though.
