I was gonna post those TF2 shots, but I couldn't find them anymore, so that's why I didn't. It's pretty much like CJ and Peris said, I copied that part on purpose. I've always thought that this TF2 map looked incredibly cool (despite its age), so one day I just felt like recreating as much as I could from the screenshots. After I had done that, I just expanded the map like I felt.

That's all. It's pretty much like how DaveJ started de_dust.

I'll tweak the lighting. The TS version is supposed to have roof access, but atm it's having some r_speeds issues on said roofs, so a lot of tweaking has to be done.

Probably because it is a stock HL light fixture texture

Woops, totally forgot to update the link, Mino. Sorry!

    Here it is.

I guess the corridors look longer than they actually are, although I have to agree that there might be to much of them. They're also rather narrow, but I don't really feel like changing that at this point (it's not like the map is gonna be played en masse anyway ).

Ginsengavenger: the layout is really not that hard. It's actually loosely based on the Stack level from GoldenEye (as you can probably tell, now that you know that) and as far as I know, that level was not too hard to learn (eventhough it has the same textures throughout the whole map, unlike mine).

I've been on smallband for the past couple of days, so I haven't been able to upload beta1 yet.

As soon as my bandwith is fixed again, I'll post it here.

Anyway, here's a layout pic (please note that some areas are overlapping so it's probably not so easy to catch the exact layout):

    *bump*

Here's a first beta of the map. r_speeds are rather fucked up in some places, but I don't really have the time to fix them.

Pics and .zip are taking rather long to upload :/

    Please hold on.

That still doesn't make it a reply that adds something valuable to the topic, but maybe that's just me.

As long as the map plays well, I'm happy (althoughy I of course would prefer a map that both plays and looks good).

Well, not that I play CS that much anyway.

    Thanks

Any comments on those blue "beams" of light (last pic)? Still not sure if I should keep them or not.

I forgot to add that the last pic(s) were not from a full compile.

Weapon placement is not final. I just put some stuff here and there

    Good point, ReNo.

Here's something I tried with the lighting. I tried to emphasize some of the curved geometry a bit more. Dunno if I like it though.

It's not really noticable in the pic. I should get a better one.

    Quote from Bic-B@ll

by that do you mean you half finish a map and then off load it to a bunch of monkies?

As long as I can call you you're a monkey (BBCode doesn't work? ).

Thx DelaZ: don't really know if they're NS textures though (read my edited original post), although I can imagine they look familiar to NS textures.

I trained a bunch of monkeys to do all the work for me. I just steal all the credit (if any credit at all).

I've always wanted to make a HLDM map (this is my first time). Since the latest CS update through Steam I wasn't able to load Steam anymore (and thus the SDK), so I had some time to do some more HL1 mapping. Here it is. There's quite some work to do, especially lighting-wise. First time I post a map here ().

    Anyway, here goes:

    [Blocked Image: http://users.telenet.be/koetchie/dm01.JPG]

    [Blocked Image: http://users.telenet.be/koetchie/dm02.JPG]

    [Blocked Image: http://users.telenet.be/koetchie/dm03.JPG]

I know the pics are rather small. If they are too small, just let me know and I'll upload some bigger ones.

Also, if anyone can think of a nice name for the map, it would be appreciated.

    [edit]

Totally forgot this for a second:

textures are by PhilipK and Adam "Who?Me?" Foster and the originals are by randy "ydnar" reddig (shader lab guy).

Some geometry (ie: the rotating beams in the second pic (you can't see they're rotating in the pic though ()) were blatantly copied from KFS's opensource pack.

Was there any particular reason why the old record was broken with +- 30 more people? Anyone released the ultimate map or something?

Good points, Peri. I hate the fact you need Steam running (especially when your internet connection is acting like a bitch from time to time).
