Revolver should only have the delayed left-click shot ability, so you have to utilize that properly.

I played some DM earlier today to check it all out and I totally didn't realise there was a faster way to shoot the revolver. Left me wondering why others could pump out two bullets quicker than I could fire one, lol :D

    That's so cool :D

Kinda hard to tell from the overview you posted yesterday, but are you taking the map back to a (more or less) greybox phase?

Is there a playable version available somewhere?

I think it looks better than you think it does :)

Is it just one model you're using or are there a few variations?

Can definitely see what you picked up here! Intersting.

And in terms of managing reference, you keep stuff in the work folder of the map?

I create a dedicated folder for each map I work on. It contains subfolders like Pakrat, Overviews, Screenshots, References (consists of subfolders too), etc. Basically anything that is related/needed for the map, so it's all in one place.

No idea how other people do this, would actually be interesting to find out about other/better ways :)

It's been a while off course, but I don't think I've seen these picture before. Either way, my first and biggest inspiration/reference were the following pictures ;)

And here are a few others I found that you might recognise:

Seems like I lost a large chunk of the references I gathered for this map though :(

If you really want to shit yourself (from even listening to your own ever-increasing heartbeat :P), play some Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear, the originals from 1998-99.

    - Spend 10 minutes in planning screen setting waypoints and tactical entries for Ding Chavez and Santiago Arnavisca - check

    - Slowly open the back door and get inside the embassy - check

    - Spot 2 tangos from way across the hall with potential hostages - check

    - slowly move "shoulder to the wall" literally holding your breath while glancing each 5 sec to check if your team is still behind you - check

    - barely peek around the corner to "get a clearer view"... and that's the last view you'll get :D - 1 shot, 1 kill and it works both ways.

Another game that will make one shit himself is SWAT3 (and 4); good times :)

    Display More

    You forgot to add:

    - rage whenever bravo squad got stuck on a door/ledge/whatever after carefully setting out all the waypoints in advance, resulting in you breaching into the final room of bad guys on your own, in full expectation bravo squad would enter from across the room to assist - check

    :D

More seriously though, that was indeed a lot of fun :)

Nah I was thinking you could link to your topic on your profile. So if I wanted to know what your were currently working on it would show something like the below:

    https://migrationtest.mapcore.org/topic/17628-csgo-de_stupa/

(it's meant to show the topic preveiw here but it's not working- other suggestion- get the software working consistently!)

Thanks for having me on board

The way I read it, it would do the opposite. You say something in a thread and I click on your profile and am able to see topics you have chosen to spotlight which leads me to your thread.

This! I think that would be a great addition. It would be a lot quicker and easier than doing a full search on the forums and browse through the user's threads/posts, which I find myself doing from time to time

/Edit: I'm not sure what the best way would be to select these topics/posts though. Seems logical to have it so every user can select them themself, but the disadvantage about this is it would require people to actually do this ... and also keep it up to date. The second way would be based on views/likes/replies or some combination of them?
Ideally, the forum would pick 3/4/5/whatever topics based on views/likes/replies, but the user can choose spotlights which would have priority over these. Jumping way ahead here though :D

  • CSGO SDK -- best practices?

I placed the instance's .vmf in the default SDK folder, as I remembered reading that's necessary, referenced it from the .vmf in my mapping folder and the building wasn't showing up. I simply copied the map in the SDK map folder and the building appeared as soon as I opened the map, so is not like the entity was setup wrong.

Of course a limitation like this (would) make no sense for what it is intended to achieve with the feature... it's just like including a picture in a web page basically.

So you had both files in a comletely different location on your HD? That seems akward to work with. How did you reference to the instance file, with an absolute or relative path?

Just put both the main vmf and any instance(s) either inside the same folder, or the instance in a subfolder. This way, it should work whether the files are in the /content_sdk folder or in a folder outside of Steam.

As long as the relative path for the instance is correctly set in the func_instance it should work. At least, that's my experience with it. Never had any troubles with it.

but instances don't work unless based in the sdk_content folder

That's not true actually. I used to save and store my vmf's in a folder outside of the Steam directory (and thereby outside of sdk_content) and it always worked fine for me.

Can anyone explain me why I had to keep CS running in background for an hour to download workshop maps I'm subscribed to, and there was no download at all in Steam?

Hey I installed CS again a few days ago after the big cleanup I did on Steam, reinstalling only the few games I'm playing.

I wanted to take a look at certain workshop maps but when I'm on the Workshop tab of the play offline, all maps but two have a spinning wheel and nothing happens. There are no downloads going on so I assumed I was all up to date as I've seen in the past days that Steam was downloading some Workshop content!

    Anyone has an explanation?

I experienced this lately as well. It eventually finished the download, but it took a ridiculous amount of time. No idea why.

That could be a leak. Load the pointfile in Hammer (if there is one) and see where it's leading to.
