very nice jonm. from the resolution i can't really see much. the feedback previously on the contrast was correct. don't be afraid of touching up renders in photoshop

i'd like to see higher resolutions before i say anything however.

My portfolio has been dumped on again.

Currently working on a SP Quake 4 map and MP UT2004 DM map.

Wish I had time to create a new asset/texture library but I need to make these quickly.

Quake 4 SP mapping = best sp mapping I have ever done... REALLY fun.

i'd say the veins look a little weird, might want to touch up on those.

on the last shot you have a lot of texture stretching going on, as well as some pretty low resolution textures you may want to fix up as well.

it's interesting, your ad's could use some more grounding on their placement. I also see some errors with lighting on some vertexes.

pretty nice feel though, never hear anyone making swat 4 maps.

it's fine for anyone to protest, on anything

it is NEVER fine for what they are doing right now, unless we where physically harming them, trying to kill them off in a genocide fashion they have no right to do what they are doing right now.

    TOLERANCE IS NOT RESPECT

do not get them mixed up.

peace is not respecting each other

    peace is tolerating each other

i see constant jesus bashing everywhere, constant atheist/other bashing from christians as well. it is a rare chance there is ever any hate crimes out of them EVER. even in the bible belt when i lived in Arkansas, where there was a church on every corner I could wear a shirt making fun of God and usually be talked shit to but probably never be killed.

if you are justifying what they are doing is right, you are stupid, very stupid. if you are saying what the western world is doing is wrong, that is your perception. it is not right or wrong, it's media reporting. that stupid reverand italian guy or whatever was clearly making fun of them yes, but that doesn't mean he deserves to die.

you guys should move to america, if you want to know what tolerance is all about - you won't find it more calm any where else in the world. and that is no lie, america is the most diverse country on the planet, our hate crimes are insanely low for the amount of different cultures and beliefs here.

we have SATANISTS here, and they are public EVERYWHERE, you don't see the christians burning them at the stake anymore.

    WHY YOU SAY?

because they FORCED the christians to ACCEPT IT by saying THEY WHERE NOT AFRAID TO SAY/DO WHAT THEY WANT. Witches are everywhere, pagans all over the place. christians used to hunt them religiously with a striking force, not anymore.

forcing tolerance is the only way to go, the thing the muslim world needs to realize is that the world is changing and we are all becomming one. It is going to happen, they are just now getting in the spotlight since world war 2, just now getting technology, just now getting the ability to see the rest of the world and they are getting all ass hurt from it.

it has happened to every country and culture, it's now the muslims turn to feel the pain. and it is not every muslim, just the extremist fuck tards.

And you think that this can be achieved by insulting their beliefs? i highly doubt it. it does the exact opposite. Moderate muslims become radicalized by these things and join the troops of terror and mindless killers. I don't think it's the right approach.

this is how christians where brought down to a calm.

forcing them to become tolerable, which was a long process. but it was done.

i'm curious as to why every gun model i see made looks 'smokey' in almost every game. They look dirty, super scratched up or whatever - this is especially evident in STALKER but that fits the theme of their game.

last time I checked, most guns are very clean, shiney metal with not much on them. surely there are shaders for whatever game you are doing this for that will let you do something like that?

straight forward - gun metal textures are flat, one solid color. their gloss should be handled by a gloss map or maybe enviromapping with some hdr on it.

    that looks great!

my only complaint is that I think your bump maps might be a bit too high on certain surfaces...

however, it isn't that big of a deal to sit through another 64 hours

i've been there before.... oh the agony.

and whats worse is if you open a window on top of the 3dsmax rendering viewport, that way you can't see the rendering until it is completed (not so good).

    I'm interested.

however, i'm sort of in.... loathment, of making maps in hammer these days. I don't know source's mapping pipeline, as I only did it for a while and I was really baked when I tried it that night. I like making all of my levels in 3DSmax now.

if it's not possible for me to make these and get level objects in and fully functional inside source, I may be able to offer services to anyone needing props for maps.

alas, I won't make them just for anyone.... I'll need to know that person on here, as well as know their commitment to getting things done.

how is this map performing? it seems like a lot of detail to me, which is nice - but part of making a good map is making a map that performs well as well.

I think the map is too dark.

Winter wonderland is what i'd think about, a very ambient lightish lighting would do great here, barely any shadows from a clouded sky but the lig ht still getting through, i think you may have a better effect that way.

    hehe, nothing about ego's...

just to say you know, we are mapcore 'members', so we stick together in the community of each other etc. on our web-sites, and if we got good enough even post it on our resumes etc.

i'm not trying to make an elite group here, just saying the kind of Mapcore Communityisk thing.

  • Mapcore official 'members'?

So, I'm wondering about starting official 'members' of mapcore.

I'm guessing maybe these members can be voted on by an initial member count, they be put in. That way we can say we are a 'mapcore' member or whatever. This way we could possibly build up prestige for the community with our talented professionals/amateurs/indie developers.

I'm not saying I should, because I haven't been here long enough for that kind of thing but I believe we should have that sort of thing started perhaps.

we are growing in numbers here, so to speak.
