i've only played the deathmatch so far for a bit (night map for 20 frags, day map for a few minutes) until i realized i just didn't give two shits about the gameplay. the visuals were also very dumbed down by the bloom and lack of contrast in the lighting. i understand that they also didn't include the high res textures as with their previous demos, not a huge deal. the taunts also didn't seem to turn off after disabling them twice, why are the taunts still in the game anyways? does anyone like to hear them?

i've read that the demo underrepresented the game... i don't know how much it can do that for a seemingly basic game. maybe i just need to check out hte VTF maps later on. either way i will probably end up buying it for the editor and such.

sweet jesus @ DX10 one, so many subtleties there that just pull the whole picture together. i love the rays of light going through the trees and the way the rocks really "pop", or maybe that's because they're actually models there?

Just finished Portal too about 30 minutes ago- great game. The humor was solid throughout. The puzzles were great to the point that they were easy enough to get through with the right thought, but not so challenging that I ever quit the game and had to come back.

that was pretty retarded, and nothing to do with portals . i was almost excited for a second when I thought it was greengrass directing, but then i found out he didn't do the first one.

While I'm not on this project (even though I know a thing or two about it), I can say some things

    1. Some of these comments are pretty funny, some are clever!

    2. There's lots of ignorance here- try not to judge a book by it's cover. Just because you see this or you see that, doesn't mean that's all there is. That's about all I will say about that.

Let's have a cold one, and in memory of Friday Night Lights Season Two, look at this sweet headshot of Brad Leland:

some pretty amazing art. there are more polies in those cast iron railings than any game i've ever worked on combined.

no word on gameplay? RE1'ish would be a good guess...

Edit: Thrik... right, where the view is frozen and you can move around (ie; RE1)

played my first (few) xboxlive matches tonight, great stuff.

and the SP campaign was a little underwhelming up until the last few maps that i'm at, where i'm getting more and more impressed.

    these are my impressions just from the demo, and having skated for 10+ years myself;

+world art is simple and well done

+characters are well done with great animations/animation blending

+control scheme is intuitive and interesting, most of the tricks make sense

+feels much like a skate simulator, works well

+community system with sharing videos and stuff is great

-stereotyped skateboarding lifestyle, mostly talking about the narrator's dialogue (who is... mike carroll, right? "yo, what's up dog, that is sick! let me say some more bullshit against my will!")

-distance movement seemed pretty jacked. in real life you would ollie up a curb pretty close to it, trying this in skate = slam. you have to ollie from what seems like over ten feet away to get up a ten inch tall curb.

-camera position is terrible, it's hard to see what is coming up, this really kills it for me (is there a way to change it?)

-many tricks have similar movements, so it can be difficult to do what you want, when you want

    Quote from Izuno

The whole quote from gamedaily is:

The little redirection at the end strengthens the "...............................can we talk about something else cause we don't want to talk about this" undertone.

I thought it was, "I'm too busy with mountains of cash, hookers, and blow" :megaman:

This would be quite the move though.
