didn't it come out a bit close to the awards to win GOTY? ![]()

YOU SHALL NOT PARK
-
-
you appear to be trying to simulate what would normally be a 4 different texture shader setup with a single diffuse - how do these look with normal maps, gloss/spec and some lighting?
-
I'll take a peek on my old pc at home when I go back, I hope your still in a nostalgic mood at xmas time ;P
-
yeah either ME3 or Xcom for me too

Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with failure, or maybe I'm not getting the purpose of this. But the last thing I try to do is fail on purpose just to learn from it. Isn't the key to fail fast, and then do it right before you start putting your company into a financial burden? Sure with personal projects it doesn't matter and you can learn from it, but when money is on the line you have to succeed fast.

avatar - again, man it's good

oh, it showed up as active and running ...

so - the server is locked until play tests?
-
I just tried to join the server, it keeps booting me back to games menu, any idea?
-
hehe if your making something in your own time do what ever keeps you interested in it - there'll be time when your paid to not add details, so enjoy the time when you can!
-
yeah but - are you talking cinematic video capture or real time level lighting for consoles too?
Half the time is optimizing
- come to think of it, light maps are quite consistent in their performance, who knows the next consoles might see a rise in light map use due to more memory, or the complete opposite if the games become more dynamic. -
grats on finishing this

I guess times moved on, I just assume every artist knows how to work with them already as a given
(unreal anyone?) And I actually want a level to look bland and flat before any art starts, In fact I work most of the time in flat shaded mode with shadows/crazy lights disabled
Personally I don't mind, but I do know modders will freak out with Crysis 3 lighting setup, good luck is all I can say
I'd hesitate to say you spend as long messing about with real time lighting issues as you do fixing light map problems, for the same kind of cutting edge results anyway. The real question should be, what kind of game are you making, full of interiors or vast open expanses, got forests? have a bazillion interior to exterior transitions to do?

I miss the simplicity of lightmaps

Quote from Skacky
My favorite game of all time had quite a lot of women working on it, and I don't think it would have been as powerful and amazing if they didn't. This article is pretty good too: http://effingarcade.tumblr.com/post/366794667…n-twitter-right
yeah defo, I know for a fact some of my fav games had women working on them in writing/design/production roles - anyway like rick said I've never seen anything happen in my experience.
