Neato, i'm level 21 and still on the starter island ![]()
Instead of doing the SP missions at the start I've done most of them tonight at level 20. Suppose I'm about ready to leave zee noobs behind ![]()
Toon name is Rainbringer, ranger on crom.

I played this on a server a few weeks ago, it was real fun. ![]()
Cool map matey! Nice work on the updates.
Bummer, my real life matey is on Crom, So I guess i'll play there
Who knows if I enjoy the game my alt will defo be on your server.
I prefer using Maya, that being said I've spent most of my modeling time in it. Also I was shown allot of tricks while working at a game studio, kind of helpful having some great artists there to help ![]()
Maya for me is more logical and I love the interface, it reminds me somewhat of UED or Hammer where as 3dm is a jumble of complicated icons and deep menues I get lost in.
Now they are both owned by the same company I can't see either Maya or Max losing popularity, they both do the same job in slightly different ways. For the record I think maya's official demoreel kicks max's ass ![]()
Indeed, it's the same price as I pay for all my MMO's
I've decided to hold off attempting to play the game for a week, hopefully they will fix most of the performance and login issues
I'm not in a race to get to lvl 80 before most players.
So, I can't find a thread on the forums about it ![]()
Is anyone going to play it? I've pre-ordered my copy and can't wait. According to the official site it's the best selling MMO before release, that's some serious hype. It seems allot of people really like the setting and gameplay or are just really bored of WoW ![]()
Anyway, it's being released on Friday in the EU and already out in the USA.
Good question, I'd say the only game in the last few years that I regret buying was Ground Control, it was a technical issue that stopped me playing the game, I got pretty sick of searching for patches/driver updates just to play the game.
Also although I really LOVE the game, the constant issues with Supcoms 4 gb memory crash is fustrating and at time I wish i'd have not bothered, it's "fixed" in the expansion pack but it appears they refuse to do so in the original game, there is an unofficial patch but i'm not really nerdy enough to understannd how to install it ![]()
So yes, I play every game I buy for a minimum of 4 hours, so even if I think it was "ok" (which is everything really) it's not a bad purchase. I buy every game and film i want to play, I don't consider myself fussy with mony either, if i buy something i really don't enjoy i will just throw it to the side and forget about it, not moan about what a waste of money it was. It's bad purchases that makes the good ones even better. Sure if you are tight for money it's worth playing a demo or reading reviews but people that expect games to be good or download them illegaly to "try before they buy" really miss the point of entertainment, we all want more of it, however, your more of a person by moving on than complaning about developers.
So it's technical issues that fustrate me with purchases, I belive the most important part of me spending money on a game/film is to have it work without hiccups.
I need to do some balancing changes, currently the first CP is really easy to capture, as it takes the defending team too long to reach it, from my experiences if enough engineers go on the ceiling level at A it can be one hell of a blood bath, I got 12 turrets kills in one life up there lol
Hopefully in the next week I will have time to work on quite a few issues ![]()
it's crazy but i've only played the 2d one that came on a floppy disk for free, it was such a fun game lol
I'll have to play them because I really love the setting.
Yay for pimping my own thread but ... Yeehaw has been released, golly gosh I hear you saying to yourself. So, for the next week or so I'll be just running my new map so I can test it with the handful of players who decide to have a play ![]()
Ohnoes 2d has released a new map! ok it's beta but i'm still pretty excited, and look so is chuck!

I'm not all that happy with some of the visuals, but the purpose of this release is to find out if the map is fun and of course zap the amazon rainforests worth of bugs there will no doubt be.
To download head over to http://%7boption%7d (Ok i'd link the downloads here but I'm a forum newb and I can't remember the link code)
Or you can download the map directly from the Mapcore TF2 maps server, for the meanwhile I'm just running yeehaw ... ![]()

Cheers, all crits, comments and slices of cake are welcome. ![]()
Actually I meant expensive without dynamic shadows on (as default) with them on it's just end of story. Also, it appears in that big room with lots of spotlights you have some kind of particle smoke going on? Thats also a killer.
We had a very small playtest of redstone lastnight, with only um, 4 players
One thing I noticed was the large amount of health packs and ammo, obviously with more players they would not be so frequently avaliable but I do think there are too many and often only a few meters apart from each other. Another thing I noticed was the amount of time it took to capture a point, does it normally take thins long or is this something unique for the map balance?
I also noticed quite a number of stange lighting on props and texture alignment (mainly in the red team outside area near spawn)
Everything else is really really good, it looks great and should play fantastic with more players ![]()
Ok an update! I've got a server WOOT ![]()
The current maps on rotation are;
cp_yeehaw_beta (should be up tonight)
cp_lazytown_f
cp_redstone_b2
cp_fastlane_b1
cp_studio_rc4
I've setup a direct downloads from my website when you don't have the maps, so it's much quicker than a standard through the server download.

I'm no server/network guru but isnt a listen server one hosted while your ingame? if so it can't be done in TF2, at least I tried and everyone else I asked said the same thing ![]()
Excuse my ignorance if im being a complete newb, I just thought dedicated was the only way for TF2 (Unlike other source games where I've hosted my own net servers)

Server is up with 5 custom maps on rotation!
Yes I see your point mate, originally the idea was to have more of my older cs fun maps added that i'd prefer not to show as my best work in portfolio. I'm going to give the portfolio section a good spanking soon with a demo reel and such.
I'm going to get some youtube tutorials done, for most aspects of level design, that is after i've figured out adobe premier ![]()
I like it good start, it has that traditional tf style.
