  • StarCraft II to be Split into 3 Separate Games

The more like the original, the better for me and it seems most other people would be happy with just a visual update and a new Sp story, I get really fustrated with the recent trend to add super sized - end game units. I know why they include them, but I prefer fighting it out with normal units and taking the time to win properly. It's not like MP games of starcraft go on for ever, infact allot of matches are over in 20 mins or less.

I'm excited to see what new units they add, but i'd love it done in a Broodwar way, add but don't go silly and break the game.

Blizzard know what they are doing, I have complete faith in them to get SC2 out and really fun. I would say there is no developer out where who I trust more to release the game when it's really ready. (Ok maybe Valve and don't mention WoW launch as a bad example of releasing a game early, MMO's are different thing all together)

    What Warby said.

If it's a casual title you can develop it yourself given enough time an dedication, get it on XBL or Steam

Get jobs at Maccy'ds to pay some bills and make games the rest of the time, if it's a good game you won't be flippin burgers for long. Or get a job in the games industry and develop your own title at home. Just dont tell anyone

    Let me also add, because I'm sure others are in this boat;

You can view this from 2 different angles, the career or business perspectives.

Career - Many ex students or people that are just interested in making games professionaly come up with game concepts and designs in hope of finding your first professional position. I'm confident that if you decided to develope this title your careers would get a fantastic start that otherwise might be tough.

Business - Are you willing to develope this title by yourselfs with a good chance that it won't work out the way you all want.

Personally, I see the business option as better, mainly because you can still apply to work at studios (using the work done so far) and continue with the casual title in your private time on the internet.

I didnt actually see the comment above me I was just speculating. I'd prefer to have everyone playing the same MP no matter what version you have, but then a part of me wants the 2nd and 3rd mission packs to include more than just SP story. Suppose new MP maps would be a good place to start, and if they do introduce a new units into MP give it to everyone as a simple MP patch.

They might add some special units for the 2nd and 3rd game? But you can only use them in MP if you own them? I hope not but I'm sure most people will buy all 3, unless they suck, which is about as likely as james bond doing the washing-up in the new film.

If the games are accordinly priced for the gameplay time then no problem. I'd rather see SC2 in the next six months than wait ages.

I'm not a fan of platformers either but ima buy this for sure, mainly because any game that uses a clean/modern art style gets my approval I've got so bored of a grungy look now.

I was so immersed in Mass Effect with a 3rd person camera! Even though before playing it I had different opinions on the matter. I think any single mechanic won't screw a games experience, if the rest of them you really like.

In terms of health regen, Why not tie it to the difficulty setting? CoD4 has a hardcore mode that makes the game a little more challenging. That way you really can play the game how you want, rather than being forced down a direction.

I'm also wondering if it would increase forms of "motion" sickness allot of gamers have. If so the idea is doomed already Who knows it might actually prevent it, i'm no scientist.

Gaming is about relaxing and having fun as much as it is an interaction, we spend so much time trying to make things more realistic when most of the time gamers want to escape reality. I think the Wii hit the nail on the head when it comes to interaction between user and game. This tech takes it a major step forward and I don't think people are ready for it (yet) Also the limitations of a single perspective must definately hinder multiplayer mechanics, which the Wii is so popular for

Just to add, I have dreams of playing awesome virtual reality games in the future so I'm not against interesting tech like this, just I see it as a progression towards that end. Startrek's Holodeck anyone?

    lol sweet

really cool idea, but you know I don't think this will become mainstream, even in 15 years or so. Kind of like 3d IMAX cinema Gimmiks rather than substance. Could be wrong though.

The problem is due to allot of server admins not updating their servers for the new steam release. Theres always going to be a transition period where things get a little messed up.
